Let’s talk TICKS

* TICKS are parasites that feed on animal and human blood. They can also transmit diseases such as Lyme disease.

* They are most active in warmer months and are commonly found in long grass, woodlands, and areas with lots of wildlife.

* If you find a TICK on your dog, it’s important to remove it quickly and correctly.

* If you live in a high risk area, or your dog is prone to getting TICKS, it’s sensible to use a tick-repellent during the summer months.

* When a TICK first attaches to your dog it’s likely to be roughly the size of a pinhead, but it will grow to the size of a small pea as it feeds. At first you might mistake a TICK for a skin tag or a lump, but if you look closely, you will see it has eight legs just behind its head. TICKS are tricky to spot until they get quite big, which is why it’s important to check your dog regularly, especially after walks in long grass.

How do dogs get TICKS?

TICKS crawl on to dogs when they come into contact with them. For example, one might grab onto your dog’s fur while sitting on a blade of grass. They don’t jump or fly.
Where do TICKS live?
TICKS are most common in warm weather and tend to live in:
* Woodlands
* Moorlands
* Places with long grass
* Areas with lots of wildlife and farm animals

A day in the life of a dog walker 🙄
Sooo yesterday after the rain ☔️ had subsided I collected the beautiful and elegant Betty .
It was quite warm so walking naked was the order of the day.
Not me heaven nooo 🙄 I mean no coat for Betty .
We walked our normal walk yeah it was a bit muddy but nothing we hadn’t walked in before. We met Max the most handsome Labrador and his pawrents had a little chat 💬 about all things dog related and headed off .
In hindsight we should have walked the path up towards the mansion 🏠 but Betty had other ideas 💡 so we made our way into the woods 🌳
To say it was muddy really doesn’t cut it …… suffice to say after trying to walk up an incline into the field Betty started to slide down towards me in my haste to save her I slid backwards too…….
OMG I was covered in mud I tried in vein to remove some of the mud from my hands 🙌 , arms 💪 face 🙄and clothing 👖👕 but this just made things worse 🙄
Okay I thought I’ll make a hasty retreat to Betty’s house 🏡 fingers crossed 🤞 her pawrents aren’t home yet .
I must admit I prayed all the way back ….. the universe 🌍was not listening 🙉
My client looked at me with a huge grin on her face as she passed me the hand soap 🧼
So when someone says oh that’s a lovely little job you have I smile 😃 while screaming on the inside.
Have a lovely weekend everyone
Jx
