❄️ Keeping Rabbits Safe & Warm This Winter ❄️
As the temperature drops, our outdoor bunnies need a little extra help to stay cosy and healthy. Here are some simple but important tips to keep your rabbits safe in the cold:
🌟 Warm, Dry Housing
• Add plenty of extra straw or hay for insulation.
• Use snuggle-safe heat pads if possible.
• Cover hutches with waterproof, windproof covers, leaving good ventilation.
• Make sure the sleeping area is raised off the ground and protected from drafts.
🌟 Check Water Frequently
In freezing weather, water bowls and bottles can ice over quickly. Rabbits must have constant access to fresh water, so:
• Check and refill several times a day.
• Use bottle covers or insulated wraps.
• Keep spare bottles indoors so you can swap them out when they freeze.
• Bowls often freeze slower than bottles—using both can help ensure they always have something to drink.
🌟 Extra Food for Extra Energy
Rabbits burn more calories staying warm. Offer unlimited good-quality hay and a little extra veg to support their needs.
🌟 Daily Health Checks
Cold weather can hide health issues. Make sure your rabbits are active, eating normally, and staying dry.
Let’s keep our fluffy friends warm, hydrated, and safe all winter long!
