Hounslow Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) We rescue and rehome hundreds of abandoned cats, kittens and other animals every year.

We don't have a rescue centre to visit, instead all the animals are looked after in the homes of our network of amazing foster carers.

Meet sweet little Emmy. 💔

She was rescued by one of our volunteers last week and she is in a dreadful state. We need a foster home for her immediately so that she can recover from everything she's been through, put on some weight, and start her journey to find her loving Forever Home 💖

She is so skinny and was covered in ticks and fleas, which has made her dangerously aneamic. She is a beautiful little girl, we reckon no more than one year old. 👧

She is currently at the vets where they have removed the ticks and given her flea and worm treatment. She is so skinny that the vet had to use flea and worm treatments for kittens because she only weighs 2.1 kg. 😿

It is absolutely devastating to find cats and kittens in this kind of state. The only way out of this crisis is if we all commit to neutering and spaying our cats, not buying from breeders/websites/ads etc, and supporting charities by fostering and adopting. ✅

Might you be able to help little Emmy by providing a temporary foster home to get her back on her feet? We will support you through the foster process, and we will find her a purrrrfect forever home. All you need to do is love her and give her space and time to heal. ❤️‍🩹

An afternoon with with some of our wonderful kittens currently boarding at . Meet:

🐼 Panda
🐻 Bear
🦦 Otter
🍫 Twix
🍫 Freddo
🍫 Snickers
🎭 Shylock
🎭 Othello
🎭 Viola

These babies are all living together at the vets, because we have completely run out of foster homes. Luckily, they all get on, even though they are three different litters (you can probably tell from the awesome themed names which litter is which!).

They are all very, very friendly, well socialised and not afraid of humans. They are little snuggle bugs, love to play and like to sit on a lap!

They urgently need to be adopted, or at least get into a proper foster home where they can get used to living in a home.

We are urgently looking for a new foster home for this beautiful girl, because her current foster home are getting builders in next week and she will be absolutely terrified 🙉

🏡URGENT FOSTER/FOREVER HOME NEEDED🏡

Sweet Bella urgently needs a new foster home (or preferably: a loving forever home!) because her foster mum is having building works done at the end of the month (so very, very soon!!) and sweet little Bella will not enjoy that at all. 🙉

Could you help us out? 🙏

Bella is quite a shy girl, but she is very friendly. She's grown up in a home with just one lady living with her, so she is definitely used to a quiet life. She is cautious around people initially but with time and respectful distance she gradually becomes more comfortable. Bella is easily startled by unfamiliar visitors or loud unexpected sounds - which is why we really need to get her to a comfortable new (foster) home before the building works start. 🏗️

She is such a striking little girl with a stripe right down the middle of her face, her lovely white chest and paws, and ginger and black markings. She is definitely one of a kind, she's simply gorgeous! 😍

Bella has been neutered, microchipped and is fully vaccinated ✅

Because Bella's rehoming is very urgent, we will consider a wider coverage area for her. 🗺️

Max, Boots, Millie, Austin, and Harley are the most scrumptious little mini panthers. We simply cannot believe they have not been snapped up yet! Look at these little faces, our hearts are melting ❤️‍🔥

They are all such sweet kittens, good natured, affectionate and playful, and well socialised. We're very keen for them to be adopted before they get too big - we don't want their future family to miss out on their adorable kittenhood. 🤸‍♂️

Ideally, we'd like them to go in pairs, or even three together! 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛

Astoundingly, the stigma around black cats still remains in this day and age; they are sadly often overlooked because of silly superstition or because they supposedly don't photograph well (follow the I Am The Cat Photographer to see that that simply isn't true). So if you are thinking about adopting and want to rescue the kittens that need it the most, why not add some of these gorgeous mini panthers to your family? 🤳

Rehoming News! Acer and Ash have finally found their forever home!
They were the last of a group of 7 rabbits rescued from an overcrowded breeding for money home.
Aged approximately 8 weeks old they arrived sticky and dirty due to terrible living conditions. But soon bounced back and have waited patiently for 2.5 years for their new home.

🌞🐇 Hot Weather Rabbit Care – Keep Your Rabbit Cool and Safe! 🐇🌞

Rabbits can really struggle in hot weather. Unlike humans, they can’t sweat or pant effectively, so it’s up to us to make sure they stay safe when temperatures rise—especially above 25°C (77°F).

Here are some simple but important ways to help your rabbit stay cool this summer:

✅ Provide constant shade – Move hutches and runs out of direct sunlight. Use parasols, shade cloths, or position them under trees or shelters. Indoors, close curtains or blinds to keep the space cooler.

✅ Keep water fresh and cool – Check and refill water bowls or bottles regularly. Consider adding a second water source just in case.

✅ Use frozen water bottles – Freeze a bottle of water, wrap it in a towel, and place it in your rabbit’s space. Many rabbits will lie next to it to cool down.

✅ Cool tiles or slabs – A ceramic tile or marble slab (chilled in the fridge if possible) gives your rabbit a nice cool surface to lie on.

✅ Groom regularly – Removing excess fur can help your rabbit stay cooler, especially during moulting season.

✅ Improve airflow – Use a fan to gently circulate air near your rabbit (but never directly on them). Always avoid stuffy or poorly ventilated spaces.

🚨 Watch for signs of heatstroke:
• Rapid breathing or panting
• Lethargy or weakness
• Hot, red ears
• Drooling or unsteady movement

👉 If you see any of these signs, move your rabbit to a cooler area immediately, dampen their ears and feet with cool (not cold) water, and contact your vet urgently.

Here come the mini panthers! 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

Anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing a black cat will know how special they are, and these siblings don’t disappoint. These gorgeous mini panthers are Harley, Izzy, Lenny, Boots, Max, Millie & Austin, born on 16th March.

Izzy (green collar) is such a little sweetheart. As with all her siblings she is gorgeous, very sweet natured and gentle. She loves attention and is always the first to come and greet you when you walk in the room and will regularly check in with you. 💚

Millie (yellow collar) is a little ray of sunshine. Such a sweet girl with who really wants to be friends. She loves playing with her siblings and always wants to be involved in every game. 💛

Max (long-hair) thinks he is the leader of the pack and likes to be at the front of the action. He’s a darling and is one of the first to come and say hello, check out anything new and seems to want to look after all his siblings. 🦁

Boots (blue collar) is full of beans. He’s a sweet, brave boy who likes to investigate new things and will sidle up to you for pets. He loves a bit of attention and doesn’t like to miss out on anything. 💙

Austin (red collar) is such a loving, fun character who is always in the mix of the kitten action. Austin is always one of the first to come and say hello before instigating playtime with you – he loves nothing more than a tickle on the tummy and pretend (gentle) play fight. ❤️

Harley (white collar) is a gorgeous, sweet natured girl who loves hanging out with the family observing the shenanigans and then diving into everything. She loves tickles under her chin. 🤍

Lenny (no collar) is the sweetest boy who loves his naps but never wants to miss out on the action and happily joins in the activities with his siblings. 🐈‍⬛

Next up in our adorable kittens series: Elsie ❤️

Little Elsie is a super social, snuggly little tuxedo girl. She is very happy being picked up and cuddled and will purr while being held or sitting on a lap. 🥰

Elsie is sweet and cuddly, she’s a gentle soul. That said, she is the most athletic of her litter, she is fast and amazing up and down the cat tree. When she purrs, you will feel you have earned it. 🤩

Elsie and her siblings are some of the friendliest kittens our fosterers have ever fostered! 🐈

Elsie is fine to be adopted on her own. With her slightly gentler personality, she would prefer an adult only home, or older (teenage) children who understand how to be around gentle cats. She’s not fearful, we just think she would do better in a more grown-up, calm environment. 🧘‍♀️

Next up in our kitten season series is this scrumptious little mini panther: Leo 🐈‍⬛

Leo is the brother of Freya, who we posted about yesterday, and Elsie. They were all brought up in a home and are well socialised, meaning they are super friendly, confident and ooooooh so snuggly! 💋

Leo is a little charmer, he likes lots of attention and cuddles. He likes to play on his foster mum's head and shoulders when she's laying down and flopping on her feet when she's standing up. He sprints around playing with the others and being goofy. He’s such a softy. 😍

And did we mention: so handsome!!! 🤩

Leo will be fine to go on his own, but ideally he and Freya would like to go together as they get on really well and make a lovely pair. 🐈🐈‍⬛

🐰 Rehoming Success! 🐰

We’re thrilled to share a happy update from Hounslow Animal Welfare!

Our handsome single bunny Cassius has found his forever home — he is now happily bonded with a neutered rabbit named Adeline 💕 The two are already inseparable and settling in beautifully.

Cassius is enjoying exploring his new surroundings, getting to know the children in the home, and meeting the other family pets. It’s heartwarming to see him so relaxed and content.

A huge thank you to his new family for giving Cassius the love and companionship he deserves 💖

Kitten season is here, and we are going to spotlight some of our adorable kittens over the next few days. Please share our posts, talk to friends and family, cast that net wide (in our west London catchment area) to help us find loving forever homes for our wonderful young kitties! 🐈‍⬛🐈

Meet sweet Freya, a gorgeous little tortoise shell girl. Freya and her six siblings were all brought up in a home and are well socialised. They are friendly, loving and cuddly - some of the cuddliest kittens we have ever had!! 🥰

Freya is a sweet, friendly, little softy. She loves sprinting around the house and is the first onto her foster mum's lap when she sits down. She likes being picked up and having a little cuddle. Everyone who comes round falls in love with her because she is so friendly and likes to sniff people’s faces. 😄

Freya will be fine to be homed on her own, but ideally she and her brother Leo would like to go together as they get on really well and make a lovely pair.
