Missing Pet Scam Warning
We have sadly been made aware of a cruel telephone scam from a man calling himself “Nigel Adams”, although he may use other names.
He says he is a vet, your missing pet has been found and is being treated at a local practice (the practice is real and may vary, but he is not). He asks you to pay a bill for your pets’ treatment before you come to pick them up. He may be stating that they need urgent care which cannot be carried out without payment.
Do NOT pay this person, in the case of a found pet, a veterinary clinic will not ask for payment over the phone.
Please contact the practice directly via both telephone and email. When you contact the actual practice, the real employees confirm your pet has not been brought in.
In this case we advise contacting the police.
We assume he is getting missing pet details from websites/social media posts or missing posters.
Please share this post and warn fellow pet owners, especially any who have a pet missing.
