Sadly a deceased tabby cat has been brought into us today without a microchip that was found in the SW11 area between Vardens Road and Strathblaine Road.
She has enlarged mammary glands so we believe she likely had kittens recently.
If you think this may be your cat, please call us on 020 8874 5666 for further information.

18/06/2021

To all our clients,

You may have seen public information regarding rising cases of a disease in cats called pancytopenia. Voo Vets have been diagnosing and treating this spike of cases in the last few months.

Cats with pancytopenia get very sick due to a low level of platelets and white blood cells. Common signs include lethargy and loss of appetite, although in some cases there are signs of spontaneous bleeding or bruising.

It doesn’t appear to be treatable and recently there has been a product recall of several foods which may be linked to the cause, these include; AVA, Applaws and a Sainsbury’s range. Further details can be found here: https://www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/alert/fsa-prin-36-2021

From our vet and company director, here is some advice for cat owners regarding this outbreak;

1. Please don’t panic. If your cat is well then stop feeding the recalled diet immediately and monitor for signs of this illness. Remember it has not been definitively established that these diets are the cause.

2. If your cat is developing signs of this illness or your cat has eaten one of these foods and you are worried, please come to your nearest Voo clinic for us to perform an examination and haematology blood test (if we feel it is necessary). This is a quick and simple test to check levels of red and white blood cells and platelet count.

3. If your cat does show changes in haematology this does not confirm a diagnosis of pancytopenia. There are many treatable conditions that can cause these changes so we would proceed with further testing to rule out these conditions first.

4. All our team members have been briefed with the latest information regarding diagnosis and treatment of this condition. We will continue to update them with any new information or veterinary guidance that comes to light, so that we can be as effective as possible.

Good Morning.

We hope it’s a sunny one for you!
We know mornings can be tricky, from clinging to that last snooze to then running for the shower because of said last snooze. Maybe your toast got burnt or your commute is longer than a lord of the rings book.

We’d like you to meet Susan.
Part time influencer, professional sleeper, morning vocal coach and nighttime menace.
She firmly believes you deserve a good day so she has shared some little tips to help you achieve it.

Have a lovely day, from Voo 🐾 (and Susan)

**COVID-19 UPDATE**

Dear Clients,

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement tonight we want to reassure you our practices will remain open for essential, urgent and emergency care.

Non urgent care will continue via telephone and video consultations. Our staff can help advise you in each situation what the best plan will be.

We are launching our new App to enable video and text consultations. This is a great way to get the things you need for your pet without having to come in.

For medications we will ask you to pay over the phone before arrival to minimise time and contact spent in the clinic. We will be able to help deliver medications if needed.

We love looking after all your pets and during this time we have plans to make sure they will stay fit and healthy.

Our teams are following the strictest guidelines and protocols to keep the workplace safe.

Here’s Bobbi the Tibetan Spaniel having a rest from playing under reception. She came in for her first free puppy check this morning and had her kennel cough vaccine. If your puppy will be going to daycare or out socialising with other dogs, it is a great idea to protect them against kennel cough 🐕 💖

Here’s Ringo the Cavashon making himself at home on a Tuesday afternoon! Our waiting areas are as homely as possible, to try and make all of our patients feel relaxed and settled 🐶 ❤️

These beautiful Ragdoll boys are Newton and Darwin! They are 6 months old and visited us this week to be neutered. If you have any queries regarding neutering your pet, please contact us.

Ragdolls are a larger breed of cat with medium length silky hair. They are very docile and have an affectionate nature.

Pet travel to Europe after Brexit

Update on travelling to the EU with your pet.

The UK Government has now agreed with the EU to a six-month extension of Article 50. During this extension period, we will remain a member of the EU.

Pets will be able to travel to the EU using their current EU pet passport until the UK leaves the EU. No further checks or tests are required.

However, if your pet has already been issued an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for travel from the UK to the EU and back, this is valid for:

A single trip
Up to 10 days after the date of issue for entry into the EU
Onward travel within the EU for four months after the date of issue, or until the date the rabies vaccination expires
Re-entry to the UK for 4 months after the date of issue provided that the rabies vaccination does not lapse (a booster whilst in the EU would maintain validity of the AHC for return travel to the UK only).

Further information: When the UK leaves the EU
For the latest information on ‘Pet Travel to Europe after Brexit’ please see the guidance on GOV.UK at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/pet-travel-to-europe-after-brexit.

Our Story

Voo Vets Wandsworth is located in the shopping parade on the Barmouth Road. Local clients often walk to the practice, parking is available all along the road, and bus stops are only a short walk away.

Our Wandsworth practice is well-established in the area and in 2014, the practice was refurbished with the addition of the latest operating theatres, diagnostic equipment, comfortable kennels, and to create a larger waiting area.

Continuous investment is made to better support our highly experienced team, to enable us to offer world-class general, primary, consultation, diagnostic, surgical services and the very best of care for you and your pets.

For more complex cases, surgeries, specialist and 24hr emergency care, we may treat your pet in our near-by hospital in Surbiton. Complimentary transport is available, if needed.
