🐕 Meet Buddy – our patient

Buddy was referred to the RVC after he developed a ‘cherry eye’ (pr*****ed third eyelid gland) in both eyes. He also had distichiasis (a condition where extra eyelashes grow out of his eyelids toward his eye surface). Our RVC specialist-led Ophthalmology team based at Queen Mother Hospital for Animals conducted an operation to reposition his eyelid glands so he can maintain a healthy tear film long-term. His distichiasis was treated with electrolysis and cryotherapy.

Following a short recovery, Buddy is now enjoying his life to back home in Essex.
His owner said “I am so pleased with the outcome. The service at the RVC was brilliant. The surgeons did a fantastic job to fix Buddy’s eyes.”

🐕 New research from the RVC has found that advising owners to behave calmly during their arrivals and departures helped puppies adjust to being left on their own. These findings provide valuable insights for veterinarians, trainers and puppy owners which can help prevent separation-related behaviour problems.
