The College offers undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD programmes in veterinary medicine and veterinary nursing. The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) produces world-class research and provides support for the veterinary profession through its refe

rral hospitals, including the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Europe's largest small animal hospital, and the Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital. As one of the world's leading specialist veterinary and biological science research institutions, the RVC brings together talented individuals; all of whom share a passion for human and animal health and welfare. We are the only veterinary school in the world to hold full accreditation from AVMA, EAVE, RCVS, AVBC and our biological science courses are accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Our programmes are of international appeal and attract students from all over the world. Our graduates go on to become practicing veterinarians, research scientists, veterinary nurses and leaders in industry and government. The College owns and manages the London BioScience Innovation Centre; which was London's first centre for early stage life science companies. This puts the College at the heart of biotechnology and other biomedical research in London and opens doors for research collaboration.

🏆 Congratulations to Alice Goff who won BETA Equine Thesis of the Year!

She said about the day: "It was a really interesting morning with some great presentations from the other finalists, I really enjoyed sharing my research project and discussing my findings with the judges. It's such an honour to have won and it is amazing to have been able to represent RVC."

Alice Goff, representing The Royal Veterinary College (RVC), is the winner of the 2024 BETA Equine Thesis of the Year Award with her dissertation: Prognostic Indicators for Survival in Horses with African Horse Sickness.

The judges praised all four 2024 BETA Thesis of the Year finalists for their practically applied topics of real relevance to the equine industry.

“The selection of Alice as the winner was a unanimous decision by the judging panel. Her dissertation was well-written, concise and professionally presented. Its outcomes have real-life application and could directly impact horse welfare.”

“The judging panel would like to congratulate each of the finalists on the successful completion of their dissertation. During the competition, their presentations allowed them to elaborate on their written work and bring their research to life,” said Dr Georgina Crossman, who headed the four-strong judging panel.

● Myerscough College & University Centre- Charlotte Hodgetts – Cooling practices for equine thermoregulation after cross country competition.
● University of Limerick – Jake Draper – An investigation into the profitability of first season thoroughbred sires.
● Aberystwyth University – Rifka Faithfull – Influences of double and snaffle bridles on equine behaviour at dressage competitions and factors that interact with their effect.

Congratulations, Alice! Well done to Charlotte, Jake, and Rifka!
