Is It Separation Anxiety or Noise Sensitivity? 🤔
What seems like separation anxiety could actually be fear of noises - or even both!
Dogs show anxiety for many reasons, and understanding the cause is the first step to helping them feel calm and safe 🐶✨
In my Soothe Separation Anxiety Programme, I’ll help you:
- Decode your dog’s body language and triggers
- Support separation anxiety AND sensitivity to noises at home
- Build your dog’s confidence, so they stay calm while you’re away
✨ Imagine a guilt-free life where your dog feels peaceful at home and you feel free to leave, knowing they’re happy and relaxed
💖 Early bird discount (£100 OFF) ends Sunday! Doors close soon, and we start on January 13th - don’t miss out!

Does your dog guard their toys or food? 🧸🐾
Resource guarding, which can look like protecting toys, stolen objects or food, is a common behaviour in dogs.
But it usually has a deeper meaning with strong BIG feelings behind it. It’s their way of saying, “This is important to me!” With the right approach, you can help your dog feel secure and relaxed.
Let me know in the comments - does your dog show this behavior? How do you manage it? 👇🏽🐶

“But they like chasing!” 🐕
Lots of dogs like chasing, it’s a very natural behaviour especially for sighthounds, but as their guardian we are responsible for our dog’s safety and running off to chase something is not always safe or possible!
If your dog likes to chase, make sure:
⚠️ to keep them on a lead in situations where it might be dangerous, such as close to roads
🦴 you know your dog’s body language and what triggers chasing
🐕 to visit places where they have the freedom to chase in a safe setting, away from other people or animals who won’t enjoy being chased!
🐾 to bring a toy and treats@to keep their attention on you when needed
Does your dog chase people or bikes, scooters or joggers on a walk?
Share your tips below on what helps you in these situations 👇🏽🐶

Walking with a people reactive dog? I know how tough it can be, both for you and your dog 🐾
That’s why I created Soothe Stranger Reactivity, to help guardians manage reactivity to strangers and other people.
Just ask my clients Alexia & Buddy, a rescue dog who lived in a busy city:
🌟 “Becca is incredible! She patiently helped us build Buddy’s confidence, and now he loves life - from walkies to meeting people! 🐶💛”
If reactivity is a struggle, Soothe Stranger Reactivity starts on Monday 2nd December.

It’s time for another 💥50 Things to Teach a Sighthound 💥
Today, we’re focusing on a challenge many dogs face: staying calm when home alone.
While separation can be tough, a few simple steps can help your sighthound relax and build confidence on their own! 🏡
✨TOP TIP ✨ Start by building your dog’s independence INSIDE the home.
Do they follow you constantly, wait outside the door if you go to the bathroom or whine at a closed babygate?
If so, they’re not ready for you to practice leaving OUTSIDE the house yet.
Give them a tasty enrichment food toy and pop in and out of the room casually while they eat it, stopping if they show any signs of stress.

🐾 Does your dog greet visitors with over excitement, fear, or even aggression?
You’re not alone!
Many dogs react to guests at the door, but it doesn’t have to be a problem.
By learning to read your dog’s body language, you can understand their feelings and give them the support they need.
✨ I’m thrilled to announce that my 6-week program, Soothe Stranger Reactivity, kicks off on December 2nd! 🚪✨
This is your chance to transform those doorbell dilemmas into positive experiences. Plus, if you sign up now, you can get £100 OFF with early bird pricing!

Let’s make greeting visitors a joyful experience for you and your dog

WHY a dog is reactive to other dogs:
Reactivity is an umbrella term, covering multiple behaviours, emotions and motivations.
Your dog wants to achieve something through their reactivity. They are feeling a strong emotion (big feeling) and are trying to communicate their desire, through their reactive behaviour. Your dog wants to do one or more of these:
- Increase distance from the dog - they feel FEARFUL, ANXIOUS.
- Reduce distance from the dog - they feel CURIOUS, FRUSTRATED.
- Protect a valued resource from the dog - they feel PROTECTIVE, TERRITORIAL, ANXIOUS.
- Protect their body from the dog - they feel FEARFUL, ANXIOUS.
- Play with or chase the dog - they feel PLAYFUL, EXCITED.
This is what we work out together for YOUR dog during Reactivity Relief and together develop their behaviour plan.
Sign up before October 27th to use the Early Bird discount, we are starting on November 11th (link in bio).
Sighthounds are brilliant and so are you for getting one! Bred by kings & queens for tracking, they’ll treat you like royalty when they’ve had the right training. But they can be misunderstood and if they don’t get what they need, it can become quite challenging (that’s where I come in).
I can help you with your:
- Greyhound who came from a life racing at the track.
- Lurcher who was bred to work in coursing.
- Galgo from Spain who was used to hunt and then abandoned.
- Saluki who ended up in rescue kennels.
- Whippet, Italian greyhound, or sighthound crossbreed who you had from a puppy, but behaviour challenges have emerged as they matured, after lockdown or living in a busy area.
What will you learn by working with me?
- Body language - sighthounds are unique and can be harder to read. I help you to recognise their face, ear, tail and body positions to interpret the emotional meaning behind their movements.
- Behaviour traits - learn why your sighthound is ‘reactive’ to some people or animals, why they can’t be left on their own at home.
- How to support your sighthound’s unique behaviour and emotional needs, as the individual they are.
- How to train your sighthound, using positive reward based techniques, using their natural motivations, to help with selective recall, strong prey drive or overly boisterous play, chasing other people/joggers/skateboarders or being unsettled in busy public places.
Sighthounds don’t speak English (wouldn’t that be so cool if they did, though?), but they do know how to talk to us. When they’re acting up, it’s usually because we’re missing the subtle signs they use to tell us what’s up. I teach guardians and Sighthounds how to talk to each other, so you can improve their behaviour and live more happily together.
I’ll teach you to speak Sighthound.
