Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) surgery is a procedure designed to address a torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) in a dog’s knee by altering the structure of the knee joint. 🐕🦺
The surgery starts with a cut made at the front part of the shinbone. This cut bone segment is then repositioned, advanced forward and stabilised using a metal cage and screws. 🔩
This change in position reduces the need for using the ligament by altering the biomechanics of the joint. 🦴
Over time, the segment will heal in its new position and provide a stable environment for the stifle joint.
Following TTA surgery, most dogs typically return to their normal activities after full recovery within six months. 💪🏼
Wish Bernie luck on the rest of his recovery journey! 💕

Jazz came back for his post op check and has been doing amazingly with his new airways. 😍
Living life smelling away at everything!
How the BOAS surgery works ⬇️
💨We cut away some excess tissue from the elongated soft palate to shorten it which allows better exposure to the airway.
✂️We also remove a small area of the visible part of the nose to allow oxygen to flow with ease without obstruction.
The surgery aims to improve the pets quality of life but not all components of BOAS condition can be solved by surgery.
Owners still need to take care not to overheat or overexert their pets.
➡️ Signs your pet might have Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS)
😮💨 Loud breathing, snorting, weezing, raspy, snoring, open mouth breathing.
🏃♀️ Reduced ability to exercise due to breathing difficulties.
🔵 Bluish colouration of the gums (instead of pink)
😩 Gagging when swallowing food or drinking water
🐕🦺 If you have a flat-faced dog breed such as a French Bulldog, Bulldog, Pug, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Shih Tzu, Boxer and Boston Terrier.
🐈⬛ It can also affect cat breeds such as Persian, Himalayan, and Exotic short-hair cats.
If you are worried your pet may have any of these signs, please get in touch with us to discuss. 📞

Urethral obstruction also known as a blocked bladder is a very common emergency we see.🚨‼️
It’s a serious, painful and life threatening condition. It occurs almost exclusively in male, neutered, overweight and stressed cats. 🐈
This is due to their urethra (tube that allows urine from the bladder to leave the body) being long and narrow, compared to a female cat.
As a pet owner knowing the signs are very important. ‼️
It will make all the difference if you catch them early.
It is extremely serious as it can lead to rapid decline of the pet.
If you notice any of these signs, always give us a call urgently to book a same day appointment. 📞❗️
Big thanks to RVN Kelly and video assistant good boy Rory 🥰

A heart murmur can be an indicator of underlying heart disease. 🫀
Echocardiography (an ultrasound scan of the heart) helps us to identify the source of the murmur.
In cases of heart disease, this enables us to start treatment to reduce symtoms and extend the life of our patients.
If the vet has noticed a heart murmur in your pet it’s always good to get further tests to see what is causing it. 🧐
And help your pet in the best way possible if medication is advised. 💊
