Thanks to this GoodGym team who helped out on Sunday morning! Here’s what they had to say:

“We were met on the farm by Connor and were shown to our task which involved tidying, clearing and cleaning an area of the farm used to store wheelbarrows and equipment. We cut back brambles and cleared the greenery away. There were large animals crates which needed scrubbing with iodine and rinsing. While working away we had a brief interlude to help herd some sheep 🐑! The final part of the task involved sweeping the store and hosing the area down. It was a satisfying task. Our reward at the end was getting to walk the ferrets around the farm to give them some excercise. They were adorable! Finally to finish Connor made us a delish hot chocolate. We all had a fab time.“

Where’s Kiera? Our little pony with the biggest character, lost the roof to her stable during Storm Bert, so she has moved out to a temporary isolation pen.
A new roof for the whole stable block is needed which will last the strong storms, we also lost the shelter in the goat yard and have to pay over £2k to repair and improve everything.
This comes during a financial year where we have faced huge cost increases with no new income to match and are already facing an overall loss. Plus Storm Darragh seriously minimised the fundraising potential of our Christmas Fair causing further loss of income.
We know Christmas is an expensive time and how many of our visitors are also struggling, but we desperately need your support to raise a minimum £5,000 to help with our financial challenges. Donations will go directly to the new roof costs and then the day-to-day running costs to keep the Farm open for free for all.

Thanks to our amazing community and awesome volunteers, we managed to pull off a scaled down Christmas Fair on 7th Dec on a very wet and windy day! We moved everything inside and under cover, with indoor Christmas craft stalls, the youth clubs sold hot drinks and cakes, our farm produce chutneys and jams sold out and a few brave folk still came for their Christmas trees! Beautiful pine wreath kits were purchased, carols sung and we even had a mini bbq and pizza making, alongside mulled wine and mulled apple juice!
Thanks to all the businesses who donated fantastic prizes to our raffle and to Vacherin who donated some of the meat for the BBQ, their support and the many people who still came on the day meant we were able to bring in a small profit on what could have been a total wash out!
The Christmas Fair is a chance for all our projects to come together to connect with our community and celebrate together and we were so touched to see how many locals still came and enjoyed the day! Thank you!

GoodGym were back on Sunday, the rain stopped any raised bed building - but didn’t dampen their spirits! The team were busy pruning the willow arch and prepping the long branches for our community programmes to use. Then they tackled the hedge by our new leaf garden, feeding some trimmings to the goats! Thanks everyone!

Greenagers sessions have been mushroom themed this season! Including foraging on site, drinking mushroom tea and cooking mushrooms on mushrooms! They loved trying a range of different mushrooms and used their foraged and dried King Alfred Cakes as fire lighters.
