Did you know that cats have a unique way of communicating with their owners? While they do meow, cats often reserve this behaviour primarily for humans and not for other cats. In the wild, cats usually communicate with each other through body language and scent marking, but they’ve learned to use vocalisations to get our attention and express their needs!

This means that all the variety of breeds we see today can trace their lineage back to these wildcats, which were first domesticated around 10,000 years ago in the Middle East, primarily for their hunting skills to control rodent populations.
