Brian Barczyk….Mr snake byte- you will always be our inspiration 🐍

We hope you Rest in glorious peace surrounded by the Animals & nature which you taught us all so much about.
We hope you can smile down at the result of the lifetime of education & impact you & your team have made to the young & old on this planet.
And finally, We hope you went to sleep confidently knowing that your footprints (& let’s not forget the handprints) through this jungle we call life, will always bring hope, passion & confidence to a whole world of reptile & exotics keepers, which would have never existed without you.

We will all miss you an unmeasurable amount & we promise to forever continue doing what we can… promoting nature, caring for wildlife & learning all about exotic animals.

You left a mark like no other, now it’s your time to fly high 🦋

On behalf of the Barczyk family and our entire team at The Reptarium, it is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian Barczyk.

More than the guiding light of our organization, Brian's fervent passion for reptiles and wildlife, along with his steadfast dedication to education, has touched innumerable hearts and minds globally.

Our deepest sympathies are with Brian's family, his friends, and all those whose lives he has touched. We've lost an exceptional individual – a visionary, mentor, and friend. For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Brian's absence leaves an immeasurable void.
As we navigate this difficult time, we find comfort in the memories and the lasting light of Brian's work. He will be deeply missed but indeed, never forgotten.

The Barczyk family invites you to join us for a Public Memorial Walk-through to honor Brian’s memory. The event will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Heritage Church, located at 44625 Schoenherr Rd. Sterling Heights, MI 48313 from 1-3pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to show your support by visiting https://thereptarium.com/pages/brianbarczyk . Your engagement and involvement are greatly valued during this time.

Also, at LegaSea's opening, visitors will find Brian's handprints. Guests place their hands in his, continuing his legacy in a simple, yet powerful gesture. Please continue to follow this page for updates.

The Sticky Foot- A Complex network of setae (hairs) which creates millions of contact points between a gecko’s foot & the rough surface it’s climbing on…Notice the very small forces between molecules which create the force, arranged in gill-like rows.

Each tiny hair produces a small ‘van der Waals force’ when interacting with a surface, but together the multitude create reliable suction so the gecko can easily become attached/ unattached from an object or wall.

Anybody up for a Saturday night board game? 😂🌿

-The Domino Roach or ‘Therea petiveriana’- one cool little roach which brings back many fond memories 🎲🪳

…With white spots, the male domino cockroach resembles just that -the item from the much loved table top game, “Dominos”. Closely related is the question mark Roach & many other variations with black and white markings. A very small species who’s young can be only millimetres in size therefore can safely be used as a macro live food item for many extra small/ young invertebrate, reptile & amphibian species.

Large Cultures of these extravagant marked insects can also be eye catching terrarium pets which any invert lover would be intrigued by!
