The time has come sooner than we would like, but sadly at the end of this week we will be saying goodbye to Daisy.

Daisy has been a part of the Richmond Vets team for 8 years and recently made the tough decision to move to the Peak District and say farewell to London.

We know that our team, the clients and furry friends will miss her so much and it won’t be the same without her! We want to wish her all the best in her new practice and life in the Peaks and say a huge thank you for all she’s done over the past 8 years. We will miss you!

🌡 With the temperatures set to soar next week this is a reminder to keep pets indoors during the hottest hours of the day. We would advise not walking dogs on Monday and Tuesday next week due to the extreme temperatures forecast. These temperatures can easily lead to heat stroke and burnt paws. Ideally cats should be kept inside and small pets such as rabbits and Guinea pigs moved to shaded areas or cool areas indoors. Please do contact us if you need more tips and advice on keeping your pets cool and comfortable

They are all super friendly and affectionate. Our big boy Buzz has become very attached to Twilight, who seems to want to mother all of the cats here.

It’s that time of year again… Grass seed awareness. •
Grass seeds are out in force! This little one had a grass seed stuck in her ear canal and needed some light sedation so it could be removed.

As well as ears, grass seeds can get stuck between toes, on the underside of paws and also armpits. They can cause big problems if they work their way through the skin so we advise checking dogs all over after walks. It may be a good idea to keep your dogs fur short on their paws during the summer months to help avoid grass seeds becoming trapped in the hair. Swipe to see the grass seed after removal

You do do not need to bring your dog to register for the show and due to the extremely hot weather we would advise leaving them at home until the time of the show.

The hot weather has arrived! 🌡 The temperatures are getting warmer through the week so here are some tips to help our pets stay safe:

☀️Walk dogs early morning and/or later evening when temperatures are cooler

☀️Use cooling vests or bandanas and cool mats

☀️Encourage pets to rest in shady areas and out of full sun

☀️Bring small pets such as Guinea pigs and rabbits inside if cooler

☀️Offer cold or frozen treats such as carrots, frozen kongs and cucumber

☀️Check the pavement temperature with the back of your hand before walking dogs to avoid sore or burnt paws!

We have recently received a stock of dog treats. We have plant based chews, dental sticks and healthy bites. Suitable for sensitive tummies, allergies, pancreatitis etc!
