Mudchute Park & Farm

Mudchute Park & Farm Mudchute is a fantastic destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to enjoy nature
(454)

Established in the 1970's, Mudchute Park and Farm is one of the largest city farms in Europe. With 32 acres of countryside, located a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Canary Wharf, the farm is a place where you can experience rural life without leaving the city. We are proud to be one of London's only Rare Breed Survival Trust's Approved Conservation Farm Parks. The farm is home to

over 100 animals, including pigs, sheep, goats, cows, ducks, geese, chickens, rabbits, and even llamas. Visitors can get up close and personal with the animals by feeding them or petting them under the supervision of the farm's expert staff. In addition to its animal residents, Mudchute Park and Farm boasts a range of facilities for visitors. The farm has a cafe serving delicious homemade food, and a gift shop selling a range of souvenirs and farm produce. The Farm includes a Children's Nursery and offers many facilities for local residents, businesses and schools, including an Education Centre, Corporate Volunteering Days, Team Building Days, Party Hire, Meeting Rooms, Venue and Field Hire for large and small meetings and events. The farm also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including open days, seasonal festivals, and educational workshops. The Farm is a community charity and our aim is
* to preserve the natural environment of the Mudchute
* to promote for local people the opportunity of recreation and leisure on the Mudchute, especially the young, the elderly and those of limited economic means
* to advance the education of local people in countryside activities
* to promote animal welfare through engagement with the Farm
* to provide education and training for young people
* to promote conservation both of the natural and the built environment

Mudchute Park and Farm is a fantastic destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to escape city life and enjoy some time in nature. With its wide range of facilities and activities, there's something for everyone to enjoy at this unique urban farm.

This Remembrance Day marks 80 years since the D-Day landings and the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe.

Mudchute has a personal connection to WW2 as a key part of the Home Front, defending London and the docks against bombing. The site of the farm housed 4 concrete gun houses, each storing anti-aircraft guns (or Ack Ack Guns) which were vital in keeping Dockland residents safe.

These buildings still play a hugely important role on our farm, with 3 of the old sites currently acting as enclosures for our pigs and other livestock. Come down to Mudchute or visit our website if you'd like to find out more about the history of the area.

Mudchute is proud to inspire and support local artists as they nurture their passion, by providing a beautiful and accessible countryside setting for artists to connect with nature and their community.

Art4u2 is a local East End Art group that loves exhibiting in community spaces and neighbourhood cafes. Art4u2 hosts regular drop-in sessions throughout East London. The Artists frequently visit the Farm for sketching and art sessions, with animals being a favourite theme for many artists.

Everyone is welcome - from beginners to experienced artists. It’s a warm, friendly space where locals can share their passion for art, try new techniques, and explore mediums like oil painting, crafts, and printmaking. Soon we plan to have regular drop-in sessions at Mudchute Farm, but for now the group meets regularly at the Brady Arts Centre and the Yurt Café.

Mudchute Kitchen Café is thrilled to exhibit art created by local artists in the community. As part of this rolling exhibition, you'll see a range of styles and mediums, showcasing the evolving work of local artists.

The artwork is on display and is available for purchase at Mudchute Kitchen Café.
