Indy loved eating any trash and plastic bags that she could find on walks, and didn’t really care to come back to her owners when she was having fun in the park!🤣
-
Here are just a few things we worked on, and her wonderful owners put into place to help:
1. Looked at different rewards and motivations - from high value treats to toys, and how to actually use them! It isn’t just about what the reward is!
2. Introduced leave it cues, rewarding disengagement, and looking to see if there was anything physical behind why she wanted to eat everything
3. Decreased high adrenaline, repetitive ball chasing outside and focused more on sniffing & searching, and training games with owners.

I wanted to give an update on what has been happening with Griff this last year😢
-
Things I am aware of during this process:
1. Not having a definite fix is mentally very challenging, as is watching him move in case he snaps a nail!
2. Expectations when he is having a flare up have to change, so coming up with a new normal during those times- changing holiday plans, short walks on soft grass, no play, but lots of enrichment and scentwork
3. There is NOTHING more important than his comfort levels. I want to be able to read every movement and body language cue he is giving me so I can adapt for him.
4. I am so glad I worked hard at conditioning wearing a cone when he was younger. He has spent 3 months in a cone out of the last 10months.
5. Finding vets and professionals with a curious and adaptable treatment plan is a must! ❤️

Griff was heavily judging the newly popped up grass seeds this morning. Read on to find out why🤔
-
1. Grass seeds are barbed, pointed and they can get through a dogs fur and dig into their skin very easily. This can get NASTY.
2. If a seed gets imbedded, it can cause swelling, infection, and even travel to the lungs or other organs!!
3. When you get back from a walk, make sure you check key entry points like between the toes, ears and even nose. If you find your dog sneezing a lot, they could have a grass seed stuck up there! 😳

Bob the Dachshund’s guardians came to me because they were struggling with his excessive barking and reactivity to dogs on walks. This is hard when you live in a central London high rise apartment building with dogs everywhere! But they smashed his training plan and left a lovely review 💪
-
Some things we implemented:
1. Management inside the home to decrease frequency of reactions to sounds and sights, so we can then actually work on what we would rather he did instead of yelling!
2. Pattern games, BAT, LAT and general leash skills to work through changing how he feels about seeing dogs in his environment
3. Freework and enrichment to give him some confidence boosting, cortisol break from the outside world, decompressing after walks, and to explore how he moves through his body for potential pain 🙌

Everyone says that their dog is the best dog but Griff is literally the best dog in the whole world. He is smart, hilarious, inquisitive, my shadow, a napping champion, water obsessed, and has been such a trooper over the last year with various medical things! Will update more on that later plus some training wins with him but for now I’m off to feed him his birthday steak! 🎂🥳❤️

I don’t often post clients to Instagram anymore, mostly because I forget to take any pictures during our sessions! I thought I would make a grid post of some of the clients I’ve seen in the last couple weeks! 📸
-
1. Ruby, the Duck Tolling Retriever - fear towards children and things with wheels
2. Myrtle, the English Pointer- recall, leash walking and over excitement around visitors
3. Rocky, Aussie Shepherd- human directed reactivity
4. Tigger, Billy and Zack, the black labs- puppy training
5. Chico, the real mix! - settling inside and barking
6. Pebbles, the Pomeranian - toileting issues
7. Clancy, the Russian Bolonka- puppy training
8. Chester, the Rhodesian Ridgeback- fear of stairs and leash work
I love having such a mix of breeds, issues, environment and wonderful clients!
