'GOLDEN OLDIES'
Knowing when to let your pet go is one of the hardest decisions pet owners have to make, having a couple of Oldies myself I know how difficult this can be ~ we never want to let them go but we don't want them to suffer π
Golden Oldie Millie comes in every couple of weeks to see Dom to make sure she is okay & to tweak her medications to keep her comfortable ~ so far she is doing well π πΆ π πΎ
Handsome, happy Cormac came into be neutered yesterday, he was full of beans when he arrived & was still smiling when he went home, he's such a cheerful little chap π πΆ π πΎ
Cormac is on our VIP plan & received a 10% discount off his neutering ~ smiles all round π
"Look into my eyes" π
Lovely little Pancho came in this week for his puppy vaccines & to join our amazing VIP plan which includes vaccines, flea & Lungworm treatments & other discounts so he doesn't need to worry about his preventative care & can enjoy being a puppy π πΆ π πΎ
We were all really pleased to see Frankie (Gav in particular! ) after his exlap surgery last week & he seemed pleased to see us too! π
Francie had to be opened up after swallowing the knot from his rope toy, the surgery was extensive & he had to go to our hospital Mead Vets to be monitored afterwards, where he was looked after very well & has made a complete recovery π πΆ π πΎ
This handsome chap is Sandy!
He visited us today as he has an irritated area on the side of his face. With some cleaning up and treatment he should be right as rain soon
π
Walking Poppy yesterday, all I could see was grass seeds ~ they are literally everywhere, most councils are leaving wild overgrown areas which are very pretty but a nightmare for dog owners π²
Luckily for me they don't seem to stick to Poppy but all Spaniel & Poodle Cross owners will no doubt be aware they are a magnet to grass seeds, please check your dogs ears, feet & coat after a walk & call us if your dog starts shaking it's head suddenly on a walk, the sooner a grass seed is removed the better π
There are face guards & head bands available online to try & deter these pesky seeds ~ as you can see Poppy was not impressed with the hairband! π πΊ π πΎ
I know some of our clients have got some good deterrants, please post any suggestions you may have π
Missing from Fairthorn Road, please check attics & basements

This absolute cutie, pictured here having some reassuring cuddles with our veterinary assistant Mia, came in for some X-rays after a little accident.
X-rays showed a small fracture on one of the toes. A dressing plus some rest will hopefully do the trick to heal π₯°
Good luck little one π

As promised, we are happy to share valuable tips and tricks for muzzle training our adorable XL bullies. As you are aware, from 31 December 2023 breeding, selling, advertising, rehoming, abandoning, and allowing XL Bully dogs to stray will be illegal. From this date, these dogs must be kept on a lead and muzzled in public. To comply with the new regulations, please follow these steps: Verify whether your dog is classified as an XL bully. Apply for a Certificate of Exemption. Ensure that your dog is microchipped. Neuter your dog. Keep your dog on a leash and always use a muzzle when in public. For more information on preparing for the XL bully ban, visit: https://dnavetcare.co.uk/5-things-you-need-to-do-to.../

Our goal is to care for all animals no matter what shape or size. Here are the steps you must follow: 1- Confirm that your dog is classified as an XL bully 2- Apply for a Certificate of Exemption 3- Microchip your dog 4- Neuter your dog 5- Keep your dog on a lead and always muzzled when in public Read more about how you must prepare for the XL bully ban here: https://dnavetcare.co.uk/5-things-you-need-to-do-to-prepare-for-the-xl-bully-ban/
Now we all know you can train dogs but did you know you can also train cats π This little one belongs to a dog trainer Kats and Dogs who would practice on her cats whilst she was training herself. we were so impressed we had film it to show you all π
We have been inundated with grass seed victims lately π₯Ή. Today our vet Gav sedated and investigated a poor pooch who had a sore eye, and as suspected, once under sedation, Gav found the culprit - a grass seed was in the eye and had caused an ulcer. *IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY, YOU CAN SEE THE PESKY SEED ON THE SURFACE OF THE EYE IN THE VIDEO* The grass seed was carefully and successfully removed. With continued medication the patient should make a full recovery. Please check your dog after each walk (ears, paws, face and any other areas you can) to try and help prevent them piercing the skin or entering the nose/eyes/ears. We have also had a few cats with grass seed injuries, so please also check your kitties too!
Would you like to save 10% off your next vet bill? Then why not join our VIP Healthcare plan just like our VIP stars Milo, Pepper, Coco, Cooper, Miller, and Norton? β οΈIt's grass seed season β οΈ And this year, they are more visible as many commons around the country are being left to grow in a rewilding effort. This is why, as a dog owner, you need to be particularly careful when taking your dog for a walk! πΆ These pointed grasses hide in long grass patches all around our parks. Their seeds are arrow-shaped and can enter a dogβs skin very easily! Once itβs in, they can travel through your petβs tissues, causing infections and serious other health issues. Grass seeds can also enter your dogβs nose and get lodged in their throat or enter their lungs, which can prove fatal if not dealt with in time. Thatβs why itβs important to check for grass seeds after your dogβs daily walk and be aware of signs of discomfort such as: - Sneezing - Shaking their head a lot - Gnawing at their paw - Scratching their ear - Squinting one eye If you spot any of the signs above, donβt delay bring your pet to our surgery immediately! Grass seed removal is a painless, stress-free procedure taking place under anaesthetic by one our highly trained healthcare professionals. If you suspect your pet may have a grass seed injury, call us as soon as you can 0208 858 5151 or bring them straight in if they are in distress!
