Sunday chill with my regular client 🐢

Listening to a webinar expert panel talking about the emotional needs of dogs. Hearing a soft breath of my furry companion.

I'm feeling grateful that the dog training industry is moving towards empathy and understanding. Away from threat and fear and use of dominance.

If you are a dog owner who uses choke/prong/shock collars, I respect your choices. However, I will not dog sit for you.

The use of fear goes against my values

I'm trained in "human" therapy, and my approach is all about harmony, empathy, and creating safe space for my clients. Be those humans or dogs.

Cockapoo weekend!

First Saturday walk getting to know my new BMD friend Freya πŸ₯°

And then Sunday walk in the marshes with Brewster. Reintroduced myself after few months of not seeing each other. We spend 2 hours on the walk by the canal and I think we are both ready for our upcoming sit 😍🐾

Bank holiday Monday another dog sit!

This one was pretty much last minute booking with one of my regulars.

And as it's international dog day today I've tasked my client Bobby to get us to the park. Last time I was here we went to a different park. But Bobby seemed very confident in leading me up via new road so I let him to do just that (and was checking Google maps every now and then to ensure I know where we are🀭).

And he did excellent!

I haven't been to Grovelands park before and would highly recommend it. Beautiful woodland, big lake, open fields and majestic oak trees πŸ’šπŸΎ

So here is a thing, I used to be allergic to cats. When I was little and was playing with cats I used to get skin rash and running nose.
Then at one point few years ago I even had allergic reaction to my sister's dog. She's a small shepherd mix.

And now I'm looking after large shepherd and a cat.
And nothing

Kitty chosen to get some cuddles on my lap.
The owners are amazed, and so am I

No allergic reaction
Purring kitty that rarely comes for cuddles
Lots of fur everywhere
Shepherd mix dog in my bed (her bed lol)
And I'm OK!

So even though dogs are still my top priority and focus, I can also safely look after cats.

Preferably in a house where there is also a dog

After all I'm a Dog Nanny πŸ• πŸ˜‰

The interaction with cat lasted whole 5 minutes πŸ˜†
I think I should feel honoured that her majesty graced me with her purring presence.

We have bonded
Last night she slept in my room, by her choice
This afternoon I found her in my bed
She refused mid day walk and just sat on the pavement opposite the house

But this evening we went for an actual short walk!
I'm not sure what exactly changed in those few hours

Maybe it's the 3rd day evening magic?
Maybe it's the cooler temperature in the evening?
Or is it my patience and dog whisperer skills?
πŸ€”πŸ€«

Both me and her owners are over the moon, celebrating each small progress we make.

So grateful for this breakthrough

I got you girl πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈ

Rescues

Dogs with colourful history
Their trust in kind humans was broken
They did some healing
They build trust in their loving owners
And now the owners need to go for overseas holidays

What to do?
You can't really put a dog that might have been adopted from shelter to the kennels. The dog might think you are abandoning them, again! There is no need for such a trauma for neither you, the owner, nor for your furbaby.

Dog sitting is better option
As the dog is in familiar environment, have their own stuff, can follow their usual routine and relax a bit. Even though having "a stranger" coming to the property is not ideal either...

Which is one of the reasons I do meet & greet
It gives me the opportunity to meet you and meet your dog and assess, majority of time by using my intuition if we are a good fit for each other.

Like this lovely girl
We met in June while her owners were around.
Now they have gone for overseas trip and it's just me and her.
She sleeps majority of the day, yesterday she preferred to stay away from me. This afternoon she fell asleep in my presence while I'm working.

I respect her choices and celebrate our progress.

The only time I push her is when we go for a walk, or in this case for neighbours lawn sniff. When she tries to immediately sneak back home I insist on walking in circles. Building her trust. Gently guiding her around with plenty of snacks and "that's a good girl" and "it's ok, you are safe"

This behaviour is expected
You can't use aggression or dominance
Rescues take time
And patience
Lots of patience

And while she's getting there I will continue going for longer walks by myself.
Celebrating every small progress we made as a team.

Like her falling asleep almost next to me.
I got you girl πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈ

I often speak about but what does it mean specifically?
Cuddles and kisses
Long walks in nature approx 12k steps a day
On the lead and later off the lead walking, my rule is day 2 - 3 to start allowing dogs off the lead

Now the other part that is not so "glorious", brace yourself
Lots of πŸ’©πŸ’© talk, if that gross you out don't do dog sitting. It's a constant topic. With every single dog owner we discuss food and πŸ’©πŸ’©
πŸ’©πŸ’© watch and picking - quality and quantity assessment included for WhatsApp updates of course

Cleaning the dogs
Getting woken up early am before alarm because dog needs a toilet
Cleaning the house from πŸ’© accidents in case that you are not attentive enough to early "dog alarm". They have to go, no discussions.

And right now with grass seeds everywhere, constant fur brushing after walks

Plus being covered in dog fur, and occasionally in mud.

And I wouldn't change my dogsitterlife for anything. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’š

I'm not just a sitter, I'm a dog Nanny taking care of your pets like they were my own.🐾😘

I've now completed my sit in Chesterfield and getting ready for next adventure.

Late September onwards is open for bookings 😍

Spaniels and woodlands stream was a perfect combination for our Sunday walk.

I love it when dogs can be just dogs. Run, play and have fun! With all of this beautiful nature on their owner's doorstep, lucky dogs πŸ₯° What more can one ask for? πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’š

Hello from Chesterfield!

This week I'm looking after 2 gorgeous girls Lady and Leone. After nice evening walk in a local park yesterday, where I assessed and got used to both dogs I decided to take them on a longer trip.

When I dog sit I love to explore local nature, ideally on foot, well I don't drive, keeping it green. And this morning we went for around 5 hours long circular walk to the Linacre reservoirs to enjoy some nature beauty in this not too hot weather.

Over 21k steps and 14km done πŸ’š mostly bridleways via woodlands so perfect for my furry clients.

See the last 2 pics for after the walk situation. 🐾

Note: My calendar is open from 2nd half of September. Do you have holidays planned and no sitter yet? Nice local walks πŸ₯°?

The dog that started it all πŸ•

Meet Rori, my sister's GSD x with something small, maybe Dachshund? 😍
Every time I go to visit my family in Czechia, I take Rori for walks. She might look like a puppy, but don't get fooled. This lady is over 10 years old, is in excellent shape and loves our walks. She would happily trot ahead of me, off the lead, checking that I'm following her. She's so well trained and very cuddly.

So, how did she started my dog nannying journey?

I blame it on my dad, as last summer he came up with following question: "where else could you borrow a dog on your terms?" (and kids, I'm quadruple auntie so yes I also baby sit)

Hmmm let me think...

What about... Dog sitting? 😁🐾

I'm ready for some proper summer, holiday mode on! 😍😎

The one thing you should know about me is
I love to walk! πŸ’š

Especially with dogs and in nature
I've arrived to Reading after 8pm and we are just back from beautiful evening walk with May.

Woodlands, sunset in the Uni campus, lake with very close encounter with ducks and bats! Yes bats πŸ¦‡ and beautiful full moon to top it all off.

Safe to say, both me and May are now nicely tired 😴

Wednesday walkies with Penny
one ball is simply not enough 😁

04/06/2024

The other day I went for a dog walk in the rain. And was surprised that Penny still sniffed everywhere, the rain didn't wash away all the smells.
Well, this is another level of dog's olfactory abilities πŸ€―πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Weekend in May with May

What a change after pugs mayhem to look after this gentle Saluki girl.It was our second time together. We explored another part of local woodlands and had the best cuddles on the sofa and later in a bed.
The only thing is
Why do larger breeds have tendency to sleep fully stretched in a vertical position when you are sharing your bed with them? I almost ended up on the floor πŸ˜‚

It was great to meet May's mum too, and then have May accompany me on my walk to the garden gate. The look she gave me when I was walking away with my suitcase πŸ₯Ή

One last kiss, I'll see you soon MayMay πŸ₯°πŸΎ

I think it's natural human tendency to pick our favourite. And even though I enjoyed spending time with the whole pug gang, this one is my favourite.

Lenny, the only male in the trio. Who would always come for cuddles on my lap at the moment I sat down. And then fell asleep within minutes.
Quiet dog who would only bark when he assumed it's absolutely necessary. And who would growl if he felt the other two wanted to take his reserved spot on my lap.
With his wise and somehow quizzical look bulged out eyes and raised eyebrows.
Easiest dog on walks and perfect companion for exploring Sidmouth.

There are some people who would say dogs can't love. I disagree. Dogs feel safe and content with me, if that is not love, what else is? πŸ₯°
