Founded in 1972, Kentish Town City Farm is a charity helping local families, offering educational, therapeutic and creative opportunities in an urban farm setting. It developed out of the needs of people living in an urban environment to connect with animals and nature and is a focal point for the local community today. Entrance is free but we rely on visitor donations for the upkeep of the animal

s. The farm has a small core staff but depends on volunteers to help out. Children and young people are encouraged to participate in all aspects of animal care, from mucking out to helping with feeds and site maintenance. Adult volunteers also help plan and run seasonal fundraising events, holiday activities for children and help out in the farm office. The farm has a stock of chickens, cows, ducks, geese, goats, horses, pigs and sheep with some rare breeds. They are friendly and used to visitors. Piglets and lambs are born at the farm each year. The farm is located amidst dense local authority housing in North London, covering four and half acres, beside local train lines. The Farm has a classroom, under 5's activity room, a training room, fitted kitchen, stables, community fruit and vegetable gardens and seating areas. It also has disabled access including hard paths and decks throughout. As well as providing pony riding opportunities for local children the farm has also been offering Riding Therapy for children with disabilities for 40 years. We serve children with autism, learning and physical disabilities, including children who cannot walk or with limited mobility. It’s time for the next round of Young Farmers signups! 🧑🏼‍🌾👩🏾‍🌾

🌿 Bookings for the January - March term will be going live on the website on Thursday 7th November, at 10am.

Young people must be aged 8-16!

Running every Saturday and Sunday morning, 9:30am to 12pm, 11/12 January to 29/30 March 2025 🌿

🧑🏼‍🌾👩🏾‍🌾 Young Farmers learn many skills, including animal care and farm maintenance. 🐑 All attendees are expected to get involved, and we’re outside in all kinds of weather🌦️, so be prepared to work hard, get mucky, and have fun! 🌿

Advanced Notice to all visitors!

Due to essential pathworks, Kentish Town City Farm will be closed to the public on weekdays between Mon. 4th and Fri 22nd Nov. inclusive, with the exception of our Young Explorers Club, weekly volunteers and other pre-arranged groups, who will have access to the front half of the farm only.

*Please note. On weekends the front half of the farm will be open to all, and the animals will be in their enclosures so you can still come and say hello.

🧵 SUSTAINABILITY WORKSHOPS 🛠️

The farm is running a series of educational workshops to teach young people about ways to live sustainably.

These workshops will offer the opportunity to learn how to use natural and recycled materials to make what we need.

There will be key skills taught that equip young people to live a resilient, sustainable life including, growing food, composting, woodworking, sewing, natural dyeing, felting and making simple herbal remedies. Kentish Town City Farm is offering this training at a time when there are few opportunities for young people to learn these skills so we are very pleased to be able to offer this training for free.

The workshops are open to young people aged between 8-21years. They are free to attend but you need to register so we know numbers attending.

Using kitchen waste for natural dyes
🗓️ Saturday November 2nd
⏰ 2pm-4.30pm

Come along to learn how to make beautiful colours from things you’ll find in your kitchen. Instead of throwing away your avocado skins and pips use them to make a pink dye, keep your onion skins to make an orangey rust colour and use turmeric for deep yellows and oranges. Learn about the possibilities to create your own colours from plants and dye a scarf to take away with you.

It will consist of a free farm tour & meal followed by a talk (£10/£5) given by Morag Gamble, international permaculture teacher from Australia. You are welcome to attend either or both. Our city farm

Kentish Town City Farm is a charity providing educational, therapeutic and creative activities. It developed out of the needs of people living in an urban environment to connect with animals and nature and is a focal point for the local community today. Entrance is free but we rely on visitor donations for the upkeep of the animals. The farm has a small core staff but depends on volunteers to help out. Children and young people are encouraged to participate in all aspects of animal care, from mucking out to helping with feeds and site maintenance. Adult volunteers also help plan and run seasonal fundraising events, holiday activities for children and help out in the farm office. The farm has a stock of chickens, ducks, geese, goats, horses, donkeys, pigs and cow and sheep with some rare breeds. They are friendly and used to visitors. Piglets, goat-kids and lambs are born at the farm each year. The farm is located amidst dense local authority housing in North London, covering four and half acres, beside local train lines. The Farm has a classroom, under 5's activity room, a training room, fitted kitchen, community fruit and vegetable gardens and seating areas. It also has disabled access including hard paths and decks throughout. As well as providing pony riding opportunities for local children the farm has also been offering Riding Therapy for children with disabilities for 45 years. We serve children with autism, learning and physical disabilities, including children who cannot walk or with limited mobility. The farm is open between 9-5 and open 7 days a week all year round. Everybody is welcome to visit and see the animals and enjoy a farm environment in the city. Entry is free.
