A message from our team:

💔Very sadly, again we have had a carrier of young cats left outside our practice.
While we understand that these situations can be incredibly difficult, leaving animals unattended can pose serious risks to their health and safety!💔

Please know that we are here to offer advice and support if you are struggling to care for a pet or need guidance on rehoming options. We want to help you find the best outcome for both you and your pet but THIS IS NOT THE WAY!

It's important to note that, while we are a veterinary practice and of course love and care for pets, their wellbeing is a priority and we are not equipped to provide long-term care or rehoming services for abandoned animals.

🚨We would like to remind everyone that our practice is monitored by CCTV around the full perimeter and it is a criminal offence to abandon pets.🚨

If you are in need of help or advice, please contact us directly—we are always here to listen and assist where we can.

UPDATE TO OUR ABANDONED KITTENS:
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who expressed interest in the kittens left at the surgery a few weeks ago. After a lot of care, neutering and socialisation. Via a careful selection process, they have all found lovely forever homes . Your kindness and compassion have given these little ones the chance to live happy, healthy lives. 💕

To those who expressed interest but couldn't adopt this time, your support means the world to us, and we hope you'll consider adopting in the future.

If you're ready to welcome a feline friend into your home, why not consider adopting a cat in need? 🐾 Visit Hounslow Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) and complete their online adoption form.

Together, we can make a difference, one paw at a time. 🐱💖

A heartfelt update from the team

Dear clients,

We want to take a moment to share some important updates about our practice.

Firstly, due to recent management changes, we will now be operating with one vet per day. While this ensures we can still provide care, it does mean appointments will be more limited. To help us continue offering the best service possible, we kindly ask that you request medication in advance so we can manage routine care efficiently. For urgent or complex cases, we may need to rely on support from our sister branches or local practices.

💔Secondly, it is with great sadness that we announce the departure of our beloved Head Nurse, Caron Bibby, after 20 years of dedicated service. Caron took a brief break two years ago but returned as our Locum Head Nurse, continuing to pour her passion and expertise into every aspect of the practice.

Caron has been instrumental in shaping the practice, training student nurses and building strong relationships with clients and pets through her dedication, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond.
She has helped countless lives during her time here—both human and animal—and has been a true friend and mentor to all of us.

Caron, from the team, thank you for your hard work, positivity, and unwavering support. We will miss you greatly and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Caron's last day will be the 14th December 2024.

Please join us in wishing Caron all the success and happiness she so deserves.

With gratitude,
The Acton Team

✨ Honoring Lucy and Her Braveheart Award ✨

Where do we even begin with Lucy? 💕 This incredible gal has faced more challenges than most, from seizures and lungworm to a brain lesion, heart disease, kidney issues, and osteoarthritis. Despite it all, Lucy continues to shine with the biggest heart and unmatched bravery Lucy is, one of our sweetest patients who never says no to a tasty treat!

Lucy embodies courage and resilience, inspiring everyone who meets her. We are beyond proud to celebrate Lucy and present her with the Braveheart Award.

We love you, Lucy! 💖🐾

🐾CATS LOOKING FOR A HOME🐾
**If you, or someone you know can offer a home please contact us ASAP**

Last week, we arrived at the practice to find a heartbreaking scene: a cat carrier left outside, containing six terrified young cats. Each of these poor abandoned souls is now in need of a safe, loving forever home. This is just one example of the stray cat crisis!

As a vet practice, we are here to care for animals, we are NOT a rescue shelter.
Leaving animals outside our doors, frightened and confused, is deeply traumatic for them.
We do all we can to help them but are broken by this situation 💔
We want to remind everyone that there are responsible ways to handle situations like this, the most impactful thing you can do is neuter your cats.
There are far too many cats waiting for homes.

** In the process of creating this post, a young kitten approximately 9weeks was also abandoned at the clinic**

🍂🐾 October is National Pet Wellness Month! 🐾🍂

This month, we’re celebrating all things pet health by sharing some simple tips to keep your furry friends feeling their best! 🐶🐱 Whether you’ve got a playful pup or a cosy kitty, taking care of their wellness means more cuddles and happy times together. ❤️

Here are 5 top tips to boost your pet's wellness this October:

1️⃣ Proper Nutrition: A balanced diet = a happy pet! Feed your pet the right combination of lean meats, healthy fats, and pet-safe veggies to keep them energised.

2️⃣ Weight Control: Keeping your pet at a healthy weight reduces the risk of joint problems and other health issues. Regular walks and playtime are a must! 🏃‍♂️🐕

3️⃣ Stay Active: Exercise is important for both their physical and mental health. Whether it’s a game of fetch or a fun run in the park, movement is key!

4️⃣ Dental Care: Healthy teeth mean a longer, healthier life for your pet. Try brushing their teeth or using dental chews to keep those pearly whites shining! 🦷

5️⃣ Regular Grooming: A good brush, nail trim, and ear cleaning go a long way in keeping your pet looking and feeling their best.

Let’s work together to ensure our pets stay healthy and happy this month and beyond! If you have any concerns or questions about your pet’s wellness, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always here to help! 🐾💚

🎃🐾 Halloween is Spook-tacular, But Keep it Safe for Your Pets! 🐾🎃

👻 Boo! Halloween is full of fun tricks and treats, but it can be a little spooky for our furry friends! Here are some tips to ensure your pets have a purr-fectly safe night:

🍫 No sweets for Pets! Chocolate and sweets are a no-go for dogs and cats! Instead of sharing your sweets, give your pet their favorite healthy treat. Trust us, they’ll love you more for it! ❤️🐕

🕸️ Beware of Decorations - Pumkins and spooky décor may look festive, but curious pets can easily knock over candles or chew on dangerous items. Keep things pet-friendly by using battery-powered lights and pet-safe decorations. 🎃✨

👗 Costumes: Fun, but Optional! - Not all pets love dressing up. If your pet is into it, great! If they seem uncomfortable, it’s okay to let them join the fun in their birthday suit. 😉🐾

👻 Trick-or-Treaters Galore - With the door constantly opening and closing, your pet might try to join the fun outside. Keep them safely inside to prevent any sneaky escapes! 🏠

Stay safe, and have a pawsome Halloween! 🐾🎃 If you have any questions or concerns, give us a howl!

🐱 Recognising and Managing Cat Pain 🐾

Cats are natural athletes, known for their agility and independence. However, they are also experts at hiding signs of pain, which can make it difficult for owners to know when something is wrong. Unlike dogs, cats rarely vocalise their discomfort. Instead, they may withdraw, move less, or avoid certain activities, which can often be mistaken for normal aging or having an ‘off day’.

As a cat owner, you know your cat best, so it’s important to recognise these subtle signs that may indicate pain:

🟢 Hesitation or reluctance to jump onto furniture or use the litter tray
🟢 Slowing down, sleeping more, or showing stiffness
🟢 A scruffy, matted, or unkempt coat due to reduced grooming
🟢 Nails catching on clothes or furniture
🟢 Becoming less sociable, general behaviour changes, more withdrawn, or irritable

If you've noticed any of these changes, it may be time to arrange a check-up with your vet.
Pain can be managed effectively with the right care, allowing your cat to stay comfortable and happy.

Whether it's adjusting their environment or considering treatment options, there are many ways to help your feline companion feel better.

If you suspect your cat might be in pain, don’t hesitate to reach out to us! We're here to help keep your cat healthy and comfortable.

🐾 Happy National Dog Week! 🐾

We’re celebrating all the amazing dogs out there, and today, we’d love to introduce you to Kendo, a stunning Staffordshire Bull Terrier with the most captivating eyes you’ll ever see! 😍

Kendo’s gentle nature and loyal heart make him a true example of why we love our canine companions so much. Let’s give Kendo and all of your wonderful pups some extra love this week!

Meet Rolo, Kendo's brother, our handsome German Spitz! 😍 Not only is he a beautiful boy, but like all German Spitzes, Rolo is always attentive, lively, and incredibly devoted to his owner.

These amazing dogs are very teachable and easy to train, making them wonderful companions. Their natural distrust of strangers and lack of hunting instincts make them the perfect watchdogs for the home. Plus, their resilience in all weather, combined with their robustness and longevity, are just a few of their standout qualities. 🌟

Let’s celebrate Rolo and Kendo and all the dogs that bring so much joy into our lives. Share a photo of your beloved pup in the comments below—we’d love to see them! 🐕💕
