We should go ahead with Low level activity when the day is cooler. That is the morning up to 12 noon. after that, after that people can, take their dogs home or chill out to music, have a hot dog, get an ice cream and just RELAX. There's plenty of shade. Best Puppy, best Rescue, Best Oldie are they're low activities. We will have a vet with us who has worked with us in previous years. He has said to me today, Saturday 9th September 2023, that working low level activities in the morning will not be an issue for the dog.
In our Risk Assessment, we have covered how to minimise risks in all weathers, including warmer days. Tomorrows temperature will be 2- 3 degrees lower . Whittington Park is unique in that the area we are using is surrounded by trees and there are many areas of deep shade. We have 4 paddling pools with a hose to top up. Our activities will finish by 12 noon.
I think the a member of the animals team should come down to the set up have a look and talk through what we intend to do before shutting down activities. That would be fairer to us and show support, I feel bullied by what's going on.
We are all experienced trainers and we know how to work in many different conditions. I've grown up in Jamaica with domestic and livestock animals. I've trained out side in the park on Sundays across 8 years. I have across the years, demonstrated that I know what I'm doing. Dima is from Ukraine and has a lot of knowledge of training working dogs in packs in Heel work to music displays.
This is about coming together as a community to help raise funds for an out door water fountain for the park, for the people, for the DOGS, which has been needed for as long as I am old I'm years. Changing the programme to demonstrate how to work with dogs on a hot day is a good opportunity to break skills down and discuss Responsible Dog Ownership. . A council worker, a male wants the Whittington park group to accept a standard fountain, which doesn't serve the dogs on hot days to cool off as it's push button and the dogs can't get under the tap to wash paws, dirty back ends that may have Cling -ons or diarrhea poo dribble.
The Whittington Park group had a meeting on June 19th and voted unanimously for a Victorian styled cast iron feature with a tap, as this would last much longer, not need as much maintenance with a removable tap at night. The male council worker sent me emails bulling me to give up the funds already raised to input the standard fountain, because it's cheaper and it ticks the box. But we have worked across 6 years for something special for the park, something that is in keeping with the Victorian theme of Whittington Park. This would be a beautiful feature for the park, accessible to wheelchairs, filling bottles and drinking from.
We have raised £4.5k so far, the Council made a promise to match fund, so we have £9K in the funds, we need another 2K to get us close to the quote from Lost Art of 12.5 -£13K to design, cast and build.
At the end of the day, my training sessions on a Sunday in the park for Gundog and Agility, have at times been much hotter, especially in 2022. No dog suffered as a consequence of training in the morning from till noon. To me, this is just another training session, just as an event.
We have a Vet and We should wait until tomorrow morning to see how the weather and temperature is. it is 2 degree cooler than today.
All the best, May God Bless you in your thoughts and words.Sunnie
