APPRENTICESHIP – TRAINEE GROOM

You will work a 40 hour paid week at the Government Apprentice rate which is currently £6.40 per hour. In addition to this we would pay for all your outside training, BHS Membership and BHS Exams. The holiday entitlement is 4 weeks per annum - or pro-rata for your length of employment. In addition to the 4 weeks of your choice you will be paid for Bank Holidays.

You will receive training ‘in-house’ from the senior members of the staff in both riding, horse care and stable management. You will also receive instruction and training at least once a week from Julie Gould [who is a BHS recommended Instructor.] with a view to obtaining your BHS Qualifications, going through the stages annually. In addition, you will receive assessment and instruction from KEITS with a view to also obtaining your B-Tech at all levels.

You may be asked to occasionally work on a Bank Holiday - as we have to be here 365 days a year to care for the horses. However, you would get the time back in lieu. The early shifts start at 7.30 am and the latest shift ends at 7.30 pm. Initially you would work a regular shift of 9am – 6.00pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, then either Friday and Saturday or Sunday and Monday. Then the shift would be 7.30am - 4.30pm or 8.00am – 4.00pm.

Please check journey planner as this event will block up a lot of routes Use A13 and not the other regular routes leading to us. !!! OWN A PONY !!!
Have you ever wanted the opportunity to own a Pony? Well here’s your moment. We are offering you the chance to own one of our beautiful Ponies for the day on Tuesday 28th May. From 10am - 3pm, the day will consist of stable management, general education on horses, feeding and grooming your horse as well as a riding lesson from one of our amazing instructors. You will receive all of this at the cost of £45 (for our current clients) or £55 (for those who are new to the Centre). We recently had a surprise visit from a BHS (British Horse Society) inspector after a complaint was made about our Centre. As some of you may know the BHS is the the governing body of all things associated with equine care. Their job is to protect and promote the interests of all horses. We are very proud and happy to say that we received an amazing review from them. The inspector commented on the great condition and care of the horses, the stables and the treatment that our horses receive. We were also told that they couldn’t understand how or why we received any negative comments. For those who have voiced concerns, we follow strict guidelines on how many hours our horses work and how much weight is allowed on each individual horse. This is assessed every single morning before we begin our lessons. In regards to our Pony Rides, we offer this session at a cheap rate as we are aware that horse riding is an expensive sport. Our goal is to give people the chance to experience this activity without having to “break the bank”. As a charity, we are very community based and this will not change. The cheap price in no way reflects the treatment of our horses. As we all know, for every 10 great comments there’s going to be at least 1 bad one, but we want to say a big thank you for those who continue to support the Centre. Everyone who works here does it for the love of the horses and their well-being is our main priority.

Own a Pony day is coming back on Tues 28th May from 10.00 am - 3.00 pm!
The cost for the day is £45 per person if you are a client here. If you do not ride here at this time the cost is £55 per rider. All participants must be a minimum of 5 years old and 1 metre tall.



During the day each child is nominated a pony that is theirs for the day. They get a full riding lesson, learn about the ponies and how to care for them including feeding and grooming . Please provide a packed lunch for your child. Each child has either a member of staff or a senior volunteer with them at all times.

Last Chance to Own A Pony this Easter Holiday! Come and join us tomorrow, 9th April, to experience this amazing session. From 10-3 you will be assigned a horse and will learn to feed, groom and take care of him or her. On top of that you will have a horse riding lesson taught by one of our amazing instructors! End this Easter Holiday on a high note and come by tomorrow morning at 10am. All you need is a packed lunch. No need to book, just come by!

This week we had to say a very hard and sudden fairwell to one of the most loved and incredible Queen bees of the yard, our Dancer. Without question the queen of speed and the only pony who could out jump even the likes of Hades as if it was nothing! This week we had to say a very sad fairwell to our wonderful Jake: a one in a million horse, gentle and dependable, though with a slight cheeky streak that popped out now and again to keep things interesting!
He was and will always be a firm favourite of all riders as well as staff and volunteers, and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

During pony rides we do ask that an adult accompanies anyone under the age of 10 yrs old.
Adults and Children MUST wear enclosed shoes and face masks are still a must for everyone whilst here (trainers are fine for adults walking with children)
We ask that parents/ guardians wait until the end of the child's laps before taking any photos as using phones whilst walking around can cause accidents.

It is with great sadness that we're having to post this.
On Sunday 27th we had to say goodbye to our lovely Erin.
She was a favourite for staff and clients alike.
Fly high beautiful girl, you will be missed by all.

Last Saturday was another terribly sad day for us. We're all heartbroken because we lost another one of a ponies, Our handsome boy Duke. He will be truly missed, he truly was one in a million and we know he will be missed by so many. Run free handsome boy.
