Guinea Pig Appreciation Day
It’s #GuineaPigAppreciationDay! To celebrate these wonderful little creatures, here’s a few guinea pig facts for you 🐹
1. Guinea pigs have four toes on their front feet and three on their hind feet
2. A female guinea pig is a sow, a male is a boar and babies are pups
3. Two percent of UK households have a pet guinea pig
4. Guinea pigs have 20 teeth, but they’re very hard to see under their fatty cheeks
5. Guinea pigs are very fertile – rumour has it that a male impregnated 100 females at Hatton Adventure World in Warwick after ending up in the female enclosure!

Fireworks can cause stress, anxiety, and even aggression in pets. The fireworks season can leave some pets traumatised, and in some cases cause sudden death from exhaustion and sudden heart attacks.
During this season, here is some ways to make sure your pet can stay safe.
🎆Walk your dog during daylight hours to avoid times when fireworks are likely to be set off
🎆Close windows and curtains to muffle the sound of fireworks
🎆Put on some music or tv to mask the firework sounds
🎆Create a quiet space where your dog/cat can feel in control
🎆Create some hiding safe places around your home
🎆Cover outside animals with cage covers to settle them 🐇🐹🐔
🎆Where possible bring those outside animals inside for the night.
🎆Try to keep pet cats indoors
🎆Animals should at least be microchipped in case they escape
🔥You could also try Praising your pet for calm behaviour, and but don’t try to force them out of their desired hiding places if they are safe, You could also try to desensitise them at home by playing firework noises at a low level, rewarding them for calm behaviour, and building gradually up to normal noise level.
Some public displays may still be off this year, but we still expect if not more there may still be private fireworks displays at home 🎆

Our little "stray" friend from earlier is now safely back with her owner. Her owner is elderly and thus isolating so nurse Kiri walked her home at the end of the day - with assistance from Fergus and Edie of course! Both Blossom and her owner very happy to be reunited!
