We finally decided to take a break and recharge our batteries after what has been a difficult 2 years. Consequently the salon will be closed until Monday 15th July... I will respond to all messages on my return.

A new dog paddock has recently opened in Trottiscliffe which I visited today. You can book 1/2 slots for £5 or £10 for an hour. I have to say I found it quite tranquil and very peaceful. Juliet (the owner) is still doing some works there but there is water and p**p bags available. For more details and to book you can click on the link below

I cannot believe I'm even writing this so soon after loosing our beautiful Maddison and Charlie-Girl but last night we had to say goodbye to our very special Manisha. She blessed us with 16 wonderful years. I'm so lucky to have had you in our lives. You'll be forever missed

Given the extreme heatwave we are experiencing today and tomorrow with temperatures of 37-38 degrees I decided to close the salon for a couple of days.

Please keep your furbabies safe... We are struggling to stay cool ourselves in this heat and we don't have fur coats on.

Welfare has to come first and I cannot run the risk of a dog overheating even without the dryers on. Thank you to those of you who I've already contacted and for your understanding. I will be contacting the remainder of customers booked in to reschedule.

When the weather is hot, it can be difficult to make sure your dog is getting their daily exercise safely. 🐶 Here are 9 top tips from our vets:

♨️ If in doubt, don't go out. If you can't safely exercise your dog, missing a day won't hurt. Remember, .
🌞 Avoid the hottest part of the day which is usually between 8am - 5pm. The midday sun is when they're at most risk of overheating.
🌡️ Watch out for hot pavements, roads and sand. If it's too hot for you to hold your hand or bare foot on the floor for 5 seconds - it's too hot for your dog!
💦 Keep them hydrated. Always bring a travel water bowl and stop for regular drink breaks.
🐌 Take it slow. Running will only make them warmer and put them at risk of heatstroke.
☂️ Find the shade. Find natural, tree-lined paths for summer walks and avoid open spaces such as fields.
🚶‍♀️ Shorter walks. If it's too hot to go on their normal longer walk, there's no harm in keeping it short and sweet.
🌊 Be mindful around water. Avoid dangerous waters such as canals, reservoirs, fast-flowing water or rough seas.
🥵 Look out for the signs of heatstroke. Heatstroke is a life-threatening emergency, act fast and call your vet.

I just want to post a little message given the current ‘heatwave’ we are experiencing.

Firstly the salon stays nice and cool so while you might see us looking a bit hot and weary the dogs are absolutely fine.

We will ensure they have water and are using the dryers on cool.

However that does mean that the process can sometimes take a little longer but your dogs health and well being is paramount.

This may mean we leave dogs a little damp if the drying is getting to much especially those who don’t like the dryers.

This may affect the overall quality of the groom which while we hate to send the dogs home anything less than perfect, in this weather we will do whatever is necessary to keep them happy but more importantly safe!

Sadly just a few months after loosing our beautiful Maddison we also had to say goodbye to our darling Charlie-Girl. We had a wonderful 22 years together but however long it's just never enough.
Maddison and Charlie-Girl were such good friends and so I take from these two sudden losses some comfort knowing they are together again.
My heart is broken yet again but I was so lucky to have had you in my life.

Dear Mum and Dad,

Let me stay home. It's too hot for me to walk and run next to you. But because I am a loyal dog, I often go beyond my limits. So I walk and run beside you, standing still if I have to.

And feel my paws burn.
I'm looking at you for a moment, but you do not understand. Because in a little over 5 minutes we're at the cool puddle, right? But those little 5 minutes
can be fatal to me. Because I sweat through my paws, and in this heat I just cannot get rid of the sweat. My whole body is boiling, but I keep going
And then I end up on the tarmac. In the heat and in the sun. With my tongue out of my mouth and my eyes flashing in the sun. My paws are burning, my
tongue is dry and my head is pounding in the heat that my body cannot get rid of…

Instead, let me stay at home where I can enjoy the sun, with a large bowl of cool water, somewhere in the shade. And best of all like in a cool area with grass.
