Dog Boarding with our Host Families
A great alternative to putting your dog in a boarding kennel. We offer home boarding in a home from home environment on an individual basis with a host family. All

our hosts are completely covered under our insurance and fully licensed with their local council. Our host families will treat your dog as if it was one of their own, and give it all the love and attention it needs in your absence. Pet Transportation
We transport dogs, cats or any other pet in our specially designed Animal Ambulance, we are DEFRA and State Veterinary licensed. We are available for transport 24 hours a day, so in an emergency you know who to call. Dog Walking
Working late at the office? Away for the day? Let us give your dog the daily exercise it needs. Worry about your dog being walked within big groups with a dog walker? We only walk dogs on a one to one basis, unlike many of our competitors. This ensures your dog has our full attention for the duration of his walk. Cat Care (Alternative to a Cattery)
Going away? Have your cat looked after in their own home. Our cat sitting service is less stressful than putting your friend into a cattery. Cats are much happier if left in their home environment, so if you have to go away, make the caring choice. We offer daily and twice daily visits to your fluffy friends. We will ensure food and water bowls are cleaned, litter trays are cleaned, we will feed your cat in line with your instructions and will spend some time with them so they’re not lonely in your absence. Pet / House Sitter
Who will live in your property to ensure security and peace of mind in your absence? Our team of house sitters have full CRB Disclosures, and have been hand selected by us to ensure we provide you the best possible service. Our house sitters will live in your property to care for your pets 24/7. They will follow the same routine as your pets normal routine to ensure your pets have a stress free time in your absence. This is also available to clients with small holdings including horses, chickens, geese, goats and pigs.

We are very sad to announce that it is time for us to move on.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been life changing for so many, ourselves included.

Moyra got the chance to stop and breathe and think about what was going to be important for her moving forward, her children and grandchild (soon to be grandchildren!), her friends and her family.

Kathryn got the chance to stop and re-educate herself and is now running a new dog training business based in East Lothian.

We realised our lives were going in a new direction and that we could no longer give the business what it needed from us.

Our franchise is for sale. Nothing will change in the coming months. We will continue to provide all services as normal until a sale has been agreed. Even then, nothing will change for our clients, our successors will continue to provide top quality, professional, friendly and reliable pet care.

We have complete faith that the MDs of Animals at Home will ensure the torch is passed to the right person/people and we will do everything we can to support them and you during the handover period. Any enquiries regarding the sale of the franchise can be directed to [email protected]

We will post updates when we know more information, but until then we will continue to serve you as we have done for so many years.

Animals at Home Edinburgh & Lothian’s, is a family business, run by myself Moyra and my daughter Kathryn.

Our house has always been filled with animals – dogs, cats, horses, goldfish and guinea pigs to name just a few.

In 2010 a redundancy offered me the opportunity to look at what I really wanted to do. I knew I wanted to work with animals and people, and to have a job that I really enjoyed that had me hopping out of bed eager to start my day.

This is where our journey with Animals at Home began, and it has continued to grow and develop over the years.

We understand what its like to leave your pet when you go away, you want a good safe environment. One where your dog is going to be walked in fun exciting places, enjoy canine enrichment, have a comfy warm place to lay their head after all their adventures, one where your cat is going to be routinely and reliably visited, fed, watered and well cared for.

Your pets can’t tell you how they have been looked after while you were away which makes the quality of the service we give to them all the more important. We send regular video and picture updates while your pets are in our care, so you can see for yourself they are happy and healthy.

To ensure we provide the best care we are trained in the following:

Animal Handling ✅

Pet First Aid & Pet First Aid for Professionals Level 3 ✅

Pet Nutrition ✅

Level 2 City & Guilds Competence in Dog Walking ✅

Feline Behaviour and Psychology – Diploma (Distinction) ✅

We are always keen to develop our skills and knowledge and at present Kathryn is studying an Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour.

We are fully insured and CRB checked, holding a Home Boarding Licence issued by East Lothian Council which allows us to legally provide Home Boarding to Animals at Home clients. We are full members of the International Society of Animal Professionals.

At the foundation of it all, we are very passionate about animals and providing them with the best care, in turn allowing you to be able to be away knowing your pets are in safe hands.

We look forward to meeting you and your pets and exploring how best to meet their needs when they are in our care.

This really had me giggling this week 🤣🐾 Juno loves water, when we walk down by the river she often just bombs ahead to nip down to the river and bring me a rock 🪨 Thursday afternoon with Barley and Magic, the sun was shining and the dogs were all full of the joys of Spring ☀️ Juno bombed off ahead as usual to nip down into the river swiftly followed by Barley who rarely swims and barely even paddles. When I caught up with them this was he scene 🤣 two happy little dogs don’t you think?! 🐾

Juno and Lola totally love a hoolie together and the Gullane bents make the perfect racetrack! Delighted to report all dog-walking dogs were superstars as always this week 🐾🤩

This little memory popped up in my phone this morning and it was too cute not to share. Lovely girl Tia showing some love at Christmas 2018 🥰

If this isn’t job satisfaction I don’t know what is. . Sil hasn’t been off lead with us up until now due to his hip dysplasia, but his humans have been quietly working away at hydrotherapy and building up exercise that he’s now strong enough for short spells off lead. . With his humans permission (and encouragement!) we headed to the beach first thing this morning for a low distraction environment to set Sil up for a successful off lead playtime with Juno. He absolutely smashed it, recalled every time and lovely check ins between paddling with Juno and keeping an eye on me. Super Sil, you have made my day, we are so proud of you!
