Treargel Retreat

Treargel Retreat Treargel is a 'home of retreat' from the world and provides a chance to engage in nature and find peace.

Come to 'Breathe Deeply, Rest Quietly, and Think Clearly'. Treargel is located in five acres surrounded by National Trust coastland with sea views to the Rame peninsular in the distance.

"Walk the labyrinth and from here take a secluded woodland walk down to the hermitage sit on the balcony overlooking a small private lake. The scale is intimate and the peace and tranquility invite rest and pers

onal contemplation." Charlie

There are local footpaths to
The South West Coastal Path where you can walk to Looe, Polperro or beyond.

Please note, because of the nature of the buildings we regret that currently this is an unsuitable destination for guests with wheelchairs, or guests with pets.

Treargel is a member of APR (The Association for Promoting Retreats).

Artie and Clare moved to Looe from Melbourne in 2015 .Their vision is to provide a place of retreat for those in full or part time Christian ministry, and more generally for those who care for others, with little time or resource to take time out for themselves. Treargel is open to those of all faiths and none.

Our pricing is flexible to ensure that everyone can go on retreat whatever their financial circumstances.

Bursaries are also available.

(Can anyone tell me what's in the tree?
I feel it may be something Getafix would collect.)

It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it.

Storm Darragh finally encouraged us to take down our Yurt. Big thanks to the friends that helped us. And apologies to the wildlife that lived in it.

If you are local and want any bits, do let us know. Lots of trellis left over and the crown.

Stillness and Silence.
Mother Teresa encourages us;

"Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

My weekly silence feels like such a small thing, but perhaps I can do it with love.

Stillness and Silence

Yesterday I got stuck in Bristol, trying to get home. All the trains were cancelled due to Storm Bert.

It's interesting to note where our minds go to, when the path ahead is not clear. How about you?

Stillness and Silence

I have lovely childhood memories of this door. The excitement of turning up at my Aunt and Uncle's for a big family party. Wondering who would get to ring their wonderful doorbell.

I am so enjoying travelling round the country to visit my friends and family this week; talking, catching up, being with people I care about. But today I will take a little time out to be still and silent.

My sister lent me a book that tells of St Benedict, who suggests that in the noisiness of our lives we;

"incline the ear of our heart".

Perhaps in our Stillness today, we can try this.

Stillness and Silence Labyrinths, like silence, are a great tool for helping us let go of things.Enjoy.

Today I wrote a short email to my MP asking that she encourage her leaders to keep reviewing the licences we allow for selling Arms.

This post isn't to show off, or to argue my political views. But to encourage us all to keep using our voice to make this world a better place.

I know it's a drop in a huge ocean. But here's hoping for many drops.

For more information on the above, look at the research briefings on the House of Commons and Oxfam websites.

Trying to practice what I preach and go on Retreat myself.

Thanks to .retreats and the wonderful Dr Andrew Mayes for giving me the spaciousness to really consider my spiritual journey.

Considering the physical landscape of the West Bank and Gaza, they encouraged me to think about my inner landscape. Thinking about exposure and enclosure in the loneliness of the desert; the fear of the river and leaving behind the known and comfortable; and enjoying both the sunlight and dark cloud on the mountaintop.

Plus, I felt very welcomed and held under the watchful eye of the amazing Sue Rider and King Zog!
