This beautiful boy is Barney. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his family today as they are struggling with his behaviour on lead. He is such a softie at heart and I am so excited to be working with him 🥰

Just because a dog is muzzled, does not mean it's a "bad" dog. Muzzle training your dog is never a bad thing to do and genuinely it could be the best thing for your dog to feel safe and secure. Do it well and your dog will love their muzzle!

Today I met this little guy! Handsome little Billy, a proper little firecracker of a chap, he does not have an off switch bless him.

So we need to encourage sleep, we need to look at his diet and increase his focus on his owners, there is a lot going on with this lad but he is also a total sweetheart 💕

Now you may have heard that you cannot feed your dogs something that is frozen, I can tell you that is not true! My dogs love to have ice cubes in their water, frozen veggie treats, I even freeze their filled kongs in order to make it more interesting and longer lasting for them! 🐕

Did you know reward based training doesn't have to be about food?

You can use anything your dog loves to do as a reward for doing something you have asked of them.

This is my youngest girl, working on her recall and being rewarded by being allowed to go in the water, she loves it! 🐕 💧

Management is key!

This is why we go to management before we try to train. Training itself takes time and patience and often comes with set backs so we must make sure that our dogs are always managed correctly, it keeps them safe, it keeps us safe and it keeps others safe as well.

For example my youngest dog is incredibly scent driven, she always has her nose to the ground following a variety of scents and anyone who's had a spaniel will tell you, when their nose is engaged, their ears are turned off! 😂

This means that her recall is still a work in progress (basically she's "deaf" when we're out!) So I keep her on a long line or, as in this picture ⬆️ I join my leads together so she can go out a little further but we're still able to keep her in hand.
