It’s BISCUIT SALE TIME!!! ❤️VALENTINES SPECIAL! ❤️
In June a team of us from Pinfold Vets will be setting off at sunrise to bike, hike and paddle around a challenging course in a race against the sun, in the Brecon Beacons in Wales.

We are racing in aid of children's charity, Action Medical Research. They have spent over 70 years funding vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled babies, children, and young people. We aim to raise £3000.

To start fundraising, I’ll be going into production of my biscuit boxes for Valentines Day.

It’s quite easy. Just PM our page or comment below. I’ll allocate you a box of 12 love hearts which will be ready for collection on Thursday 13th February from the Vets (I can also post if necessary for those recipients who aren’t local). Then simply make a donation of a minimum of £15 to our Just Giving page - link below.

I’m not a professional biscuiteer - but I have a ridiculous collection of cookie cutters that cover most things. But my love heart boxes are a personal favourite x

Awwwww, we love a happy dog story. This is Myfanwy. She got a little bit excited chasing a muntjac deer out on a walk and ended up lost. Tired, alone, disoriented, and covered in mud, our vet George came across her, wandering in Wysall. He popped her back to the practice and we were able to scan her microchip - search our records, and find out who she belonged to. One phone call later - Myvanwy and her owner were thrilled to be reunited. We also cleaned her up!❤️ Myvanwy’s story highlights the importance of micro-chipping and keeping the details up to date. And remember, compulsory micro-chipping has recently come in to force for cats too! 🐶🐱🩼👏

To all our canine customers - have you left something behind at the Vets? This was left on our steps earlier this week. It’s clearly a well loved stick, and from assessing its condition has been played with plenty, but must also have a very careful owner. I can imagine a stick of this quality is carried around with pride and is very much missed.
If it’s your stick - please nudge your owner - or use your wet nose to draw attention to this post - and pop back to Pinfold to collect your prized possession, and you can also have a sneaky gravy bone from the nice ladies on reception at the same time x ❤️🐶🐾

Alfie says please can we have some more socks! We are very short of children’s socks, especially small baby ones. Don’t throw them away once they’ve been outgrown - we can put them to good use at Pinfold! They are great to stop dogs nibbling/licking at their feet! And much more environmentally friendly than reams of bandage!
If you do have any spare - please drop them in. Odd ones are welcome! 🤪🧦

After a break for the whole team on Christmas Day and today, we will be open as usual from 8.30am tomorrow morning (Friday), and open our usual hours over the weekend, Monday, and New Years Eve. But please be aware, we still have lots of our staff enjoying some down time over the festivities - so won’t be a full team.
For anything non-urgent and routine, please book from the 2nd January onwards, but if you need us beforehand for something more urgent - we are back to it from tomorrow morning x

As we wind down to close for another Christmas Eve, it’s time for what has become a tradition - the Pinfold Christmas Poem. It’s based on our staff party this year, we thought you’d like to hear how it went, and see some pictures! 😉
Merry Christmas to all our customers 🎄, and I’m sure you’d all like to join me, in wishing all our hard-working staff the same - and say a huge thank you for being the most wonderful bunch of people to work with! ❤️

And now - I present - the ninth Pinfold Poem……

‘Twas the night before Christmas and at Pinfold Vets,
Rupert and Lorna were recovering from the best Pinfold night yet!
The staff were all jaded, from the work Christmas party,
There’d been food, there was wine - and we all got quite arty!
This years entertainment was to paint pics of each other,
We picked names out a hat to see who’d paint one another…….

We’d arranged expert tuition to help with this feat,
And with paint and easels laid out - it all looked quite neat!
Work colleagues arrived, and we got on the fizz,
Donned aprons, picked up brushes and got down to biz,
The team that was present were the artistic elite -
(Or maybe just there for something to eat!)
The rest of the staff would be asked to judge and do voting,
To pick out a winner - who could then spend the year gloating.

Some pencilled, some sketched - all concentrating,
Artists with muses, just patiently waiting,
To see what delights could be made with a brush,
We had all evening to go there was no need to rush……..

George painted Emma, but struggled mixing the paint,
He might be a good Vet - but an artist he ain’t!
Emma’s skin ended up a very dark shade,
It went from bad to worse after that - a right mess he made!
Meanwhile Emma’s picture of George was quite the success!
She captured his Greek godly looks with aplomb and finesse!

Amy (Head Nurse) painted Jack from the Uni,
It didn’t go that well - he looked more like Wayne Rooney!
Rupert channelled the impressionists, and produced a work of acclaim
His picture of Lorna we said he should frame!
Lorna did Rupert - the best bit was his beard,
She also mastered his head shape - but his eyes looked quite weird……

Nikki, Sophie, Amy M and Danielle,
Had done this before - you could blatantly tell!
Danielle’s picture of Amy won the Pinfold staff vote,
And Sophie’s cartoon of Nikki was worthy of note,
We devoured a buffet, and drank lots of wine,
It was safe to say, we had a marvellous time!

But vets, nurses, receptionists and support staff are we,
World famous artists - I don’t think we’ll be!
So we’ll stick to what we’re good at - looking after your pets
We wish all of our customers their best Christmas yet! X

Sometimes kennels can be a bit noisy. Today was very quiet. I went to investigate….. and found them all happy and relaxed, and listening to a bit of Classic FM. George Gershwin indeed, and ‘Walking the Dog!’ 🥰🦮

If anyone wants a listen - this is my chat with Ady Dayman on BBC Radio Leicester on Wednesday of last week, talking about the pressures that the profession have faced over the last two years. It’s been a tough couple of years for everyone. And the triple whammy of Brexit, Covid and a boom in pet ownership has made for a bumpy ride for us Vets. We are very fortunate at Pinfold to have overall, very understanding and accommodating clients who have worked with us through these difficult times, but I know of colleagues who have faced quite challenging situations. It was good to chat and mull things over with Ady - and I think the most important message I wanted to get across is; it’s been rubbish times all round - be kind, not just to your Vet, but to everyone 👍🏻❤️

For anyone who wants to listen - this is my radio interview today with Ady Dayman on BBC Radio Leicester - talking about the absolutely barbaric, but sadly increasing practice of ear cropping in dogs. This is on the rise in the UK, particularly in urban areas. It is is illegal to crop dog’s ears in this country - so any puppy with cropped ears in the UK should NOT have had this done. Please let’s stop the crop! 👍🏻
