Hi everyone. I know I’ve been neglecting this a little bit. Things were just really difficult for a while after losing Monty and I completely lost my passion for it.
The good news is that A) we have a new Equimont horse called Maggie who will never replace Monty but has helped the healing and B ) As we pass the 1 year anniversary of the business starting I am back and bursting with ideas for this business so keep and eye out for new and exciting things coming up xx

This is a PSA of a kind. If anyone is currently waiting on parcels from me please hang in there. I have had a few returned the last few days and a few more go completely missing so I am sending out replacements. Anyone who is expecting to receive a parcel by the end of this week if it hasn’t arrived please let me know and I will look in to it and/or organise a replacement. I am a one-woman business and postage is the only section of the process outside of my control so this is as frustrating for me as it is for you x

Not to gender stereotype but I’m always conscious of having a balance of masculine and feminine prints in my standard collection. Although the equestrian world is overwhelmingly female dominated I see no reason why men and little boys can’t have fun prints too

The process pt2 - a customised stock item

This is the most basic of customisations. All of the same steps are taken as in the previous post to create the stock item. I then discuss with the customer any basic changes or additions they would like such as the addition or removal of girth patches and straps or customisation with the horses/riders name. Where necessary the customer receives a new mock up of the item and then I make the item using the same templates as for the basic stock item, modifying as I go.

The process: a stock item

Creating stock items is the most straight forward of all my creation processes but also slightly backwaters as I usually start with the fabric so there is less actual ‘design’

1. See a fabric I love, purchase a sample to check suitability and then (if ok) order enough for an initial test run.
2. Create the digital mock-up using the Thinksy app to finalise binding, thread, layout, pattern and fabric choices.
3. Create the initial mock up - these are rough mock ups of the finished product and never sold.
4. Fit test - when I’m happy with the mock up I perform a rough fit test on Monty and take any promotional images ready to start selling.
5. Basic versions of the item are made and stocked ready for sale.

This can be the end of the design process but not always. The bumblebee pad for example has recently been adjusted to include a reinforced, smoother spine for less bull and increased horse and rider comfort.

We’ve had a tough week over here at Equimont HQ with the loss of our smallest mascot (with the biggest personality) Jack. Although he had been ill for some time that didn’t make it any easier. He will be greatly missed. Give your equines an extra squeeze tonight and treasure every moment.

2. A basic custom item (or customised stock item)
3. A complex completely custom item

Apologies for being a bit quiet on here, I’ve had the small matter of a broken wrist to deal with (yes a horse related injury) so I’ve been a bit slower at getting orders out and things haven’t been very active on the design/mock-up from. The good news is I’m much better now and have moved from a cast to a splint so am hoping to get back to normal.
