I often get asked what’s the best way to produce a flawless clip, no lines or snags.
I say :
BATH, BATH, BATH!! 🛀
Bathing your ponies the night before or morning before a clip is the best way.
• removes the grease from your horses coat
• allows the clippers to glide through the coat easier
• no rough patches on a silky well groomed coat
• finish of with a bath after a clip removing any loose hair and allows for a nice fresh finish 🤩

I cannot stress enough about how important ground work is for your ponies!
Ground work is the key to success and reaching your goals, not only will it help your horses manners but also gives them variation in their work.
Tonight I long reined cassie, I have owned cassie 2 months now and we started long reining in an inclosed area to ensure she was listening to the aids asked, she was a star 🤩

Ground work is something I do with all my schooling clients not only to asses the horse but also to ensure the horse is happy and enjoying their work without putting to much pressure on them at once 😊

This means a lot of us are going to be washing our ponies down after rides and given them a good scrub before competitions 🧼
• Leaving suds of a horse can really affect their health, this will cause sores and will cause irritation to their skin which can lead to them loosing their cost and scratching a lot
• After a ride during warm weather, leaving the water to Evaporate of their coat is a much more efficient way to Cool your horse down rather then sweat scraping the water of, not only will the sun evaporate excess water but also any sweat and heat that the horse may have left underneath the coat.
• we shouldn’t bath our horses everyday as the natural grease on their coat provides sufficient protection to the elements whilst also allowing our horses to sweat on their own terms whilst still having that natural shine in their coat

Duke was amazing and did really well , I spent a bit of time getting Duke use to the clippers round his face and ears, he wasn’t enjoying it so we left his ears and gave him a good experience ready for next time 🥰
