The Pet Butler

The Pet Butler The Pet Butler offers a bespoke range of pet services within Lowestoft and surrounding areas including dog walking and small pet drop in visits.

We have owned a mixture of dogs, cats and rabbits our entire lives which dare I say it, amounts to almost 70 years experience between us. This new business has been a dream of ours for many years and whilst starting this from scratch we are looking forward to meeting lots of new clients over the next few months and hope to expand on the services we offer as our business develops. We will do our b

est to fulfil all your pet’s requirements even if not listed on our list of standard services so if there is anything you don’t see listed please don’t be afraid to ask. Many boarding kennels, catteries and home boarders insist all pets in their care to be neutered and fully vaccinated. If we are caring for your pets in the comfort of their own home this negates the need for this which could make our services an attractive solution to you. We are also able to care for bi***es in season, administer certain medications and have no issue feeding raw or special dietary requirements. The welfare of your pets is our utmost priority and we are not here to stipulate what they should be eating or what their routine should be. We are simply here to provide safe, loving care for your pets. During every visit to your home we will always do the basic spot clean, change water and feed your pets as required alongside any listed services. For times when you are away from home for longer periods we will pick up your post, open and close curtains / turn lights on and off and even do a small shop on your behalf so you can come home to some essentials in your fridge if you wish! Not only will your pets benefit from our regular visits without the hassle and stress of boarding but your house will also be more secure as it will appear somebody is at home. We will carry out a full consultation with yourselves and a meet and greet with your pets prior to any booking. This consultation will be free of charge in your own home at a time to suit you. During the consultation we will ensure we have all the details recorded to enable us to give your pets the best possible care. Multiple pets in the same household can be discussed with discounted prices available. We also offer 5% or 10% discount on block bookings for our listed standard services. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and arrange your free consultation.

Not a post we wanted to be sharing this week but unfortunately we knew it was coming. The lovely black Labrador Arthur passed away yesterday after his horrible cancer returned a few months ago. Arthur was very special to us, especially Katy with Arthur’s owners saying “Arthur truly loved his Auntie Katy and they had a special bond”.

In a way it was a blessing we were prepared for this, at the end of Katy’s last time looking after Arthur we were both able to take him to the beach together one last time and take these photos. We saved these photos for a day we hoped would never come but sadly, yesterday it did.

There is little else we can really say at this point other than how much we loved Arthur and our thoughts our with Jill and Robin.

The (success!) story of Max the Cockapoo

At the end of August we met a rather nervous little guy called Max whose owner asked if we’d be able to look after him for a few days. It was clear from the start, he was definitely not happy with us being in his house and I think it’s safe to say both us and Max’s owners were quite unsure how this would work out.

Hannah started walking Max once a week in September to try get him used to her. It was pretty tough going. The first visit was 40 minutes of Hannah sitting on the kitchen floor trying to bribe Max with treats to even get near to stroke him, let alone put a lead on him, he was barking pretty ferociously, hiding in a corner or under a table and was making his feelings very clear. He was clearly very scared and did not want to cooperate. We were willing to admit defeat as the situation Max was in was clearly very stressful for him and we would never want to be the cause of that for any animal but we did want to try especially with Max being a Cockapoo, a breed although renowned for being problematic, we all know we have a bit of a soft spot for because of our own Cockapoo Peggy.

As each week passed it got a little easier but very slowly. The time spent in the house before managing to get a lead on got shorter and shorter until a few weeks ago he decided to just sit on the bed and give Hannah that well known trademark Cockapoo side eye and let a lead be put on him.

Anyway, the first photo here was poor Max scared in a corner at the start of September, fast forward, and the second photo was Max this weekend, snuggled under the covers asleep next to Hannah!!! We never thought we’d get to this but are so glad to have a happy ending and to finally see the real loving and playful Max 🐶❤️🐶

This week, we had an “emergency” sit for our friends Alba and Arlo in Wenhaston. The family had to get away at very short notice and we were able to move a few things around and be there for the week with them and their guinea pig sisters Rhubarb and Ginger.

We always try our hardest to move things around as best we can to help anybody who needs it, so please, if anybody else finds themselves in a similar situation and need us at short notice, please do ask! We won’t always be able to help but we’ll certainly try!

We do have to say though, none of that would have been possible without Hannah’s parents being able to have our own dog Peggy for the week though so thank you to them!

I think it’s safe to say Alba and Arlo are very grateful and certainly seemed very content for the week.
