Happy weekend guys! We made it.
Give your dog a boop and a kiss from me!
Elliot's grooming journey
Session 1: Meet and Greet
So this took place at Elliot's house as he hadn't completed his round of vaccines. Jacquie who will be bathing and drying him (also his nanny) came to introduce herself.
We waited until he felt comfortable to approach her and introduced being handled by her while being given opportunity to escape if he wanted.
As you can see, his favourite food (peanut butter) being provided helped him associate a positive emotion and experience with her to the point he was happy for her to cuddle him for a short period.
Elliot has been slowly introduced to different elements of the grooming procedures over the past few weeks but recently he had his first introductions to the groom room itself.
Scissors
Gutted that I had to say no when Noel asked me to play with him this weekend, but glad he managed to find someone else!
Just a baby
We had our beautiful lion queen Amber in again today! Coming in to her teenage stage, things she was once confident in now become scary again so it was a sunny towel dry in the garden 🧡
The second stage of fear can be hard for our puppies so we are considering developing a new programme for teenage dogs to help them feel confident all over again.
Unlike puppy introductions which includes a bath and groom, we will not be charging for these.
Sh*tzu
During the warmer months, we groom Molly when the weather is a bit cooler, which really helped her being a brachycephalic breed. Tonight specifically it meant that she could slowly acclimate to having a shorter length in this extreme heat. She had a breed specific summer cut which leaves the coat at a suitable length to prevent sun burn and heat exhaustion.
Nb; Molly was in a dog car restraint for the car journey. This was taken as we went to take her to the front door.
Bath time
Some dogs try everything to get out of having a bath 😆 Unfortunately for them, we have heard every excuse in the book!
Miss them
My groom room is filled with little tributes of my childhood dogs ❤
WHEN YOURE MUM IS A GROOMER...
fraid so Elliot
(this is obviously a joke; we always put the dog's comfort before aesthetics!)
Marshmallow
We love Amber so much but we particularly love her beautiful little wrinkles which dance in the blast dryer 🤣
Don't worry eat chimkin
Today we saw this beautiful girl go from being nervous to falling on the sleep and giving kisses 🥰 Such a delight. Patience, love... and a little bit of chicken... goes a long way! I wish I got a video of her running around the garden 🥰
Rainbow snufflemat
Snuffle mats are AMAZING enrichment activities for dogs, particularly spaniel breeds! I bought this for my clients to use today from a small local business The Chiltern Flutterby
Day in the life
I wouldn't have my life any other way than being with all these animals !
