⭐️Client Notice⭐️

I know most of you are aware but for the ones that arent up to date I had an accident last Tuesday resulting in me having last week and most of this week off. I'm going to try and come back into work on Thursday and see how I go from there, unfortunately there isn't alot I can do if this isnt the outcome on Thursday, if I can't physically get under a horse there isnt much point in trying to shoe one and causing more damage to myself. If i haven't messaged you to reschedule an appointment yet its because I don't want to book anyone in to let them down so as soon as I know that im fit enough to shoe I'll be in touch. I understand that this isn't ideal especially at this time of year so i'd just like to say thank you to everyone for being so patient.

⭐️Client notice⭐️ - as of Monday the 25th of July I'm sorry to say that due to a few people not paying what they owe (even after i've chased them up) I will no longer be accepting BACS payment AFTER the date of shoeing. I understand that I can't tarnish you all with the same brush and some of you have always been on point with payments so I will still allow for BACS payment, however, it must be before or whilst I carry out the work and not after i've left the yard. No more "I'll pay you when I get paid" or "I'll pay you when I get home" only to get paid 7 days later. Get organised and put money aside for the shoes, for a horse on a 6 week shoeing cycle at £80 you need to put away 13.33p per week and for a set at £85 you need £14.16p per week. I've always considered myself fair with payments knowing how life can be at times but this is getting beyond so I have no other option but to nip this in the bud. Payment must now be made on the day. Failure to do so will result in a late payment fee of £10 per horse, and £5 per day after the expected day of payment.

Hoofcare tip to start the week.

As we come out of a very wet winter and start to experience some welcome dry and warm weather, the ground in turnout paddocks has become very sticky due to mud trying out. This can lead to a misplacement of the hooves during movement with the hind feet colliding with the front limbs and feet. This is known as an over reach and can lead to injury, if your horse is shod this can also result in lost shoes.

To help prevent an over reach, a well fitted pair of over reach boots can be fitted to the front feet during turnout and protect the area most likely to experience impact from the hind feet. These should be fitted so the rear portion of the hoof isn’t visible and there is also a small amount of movement around the rim at the top of the boot. In some rare cases, the top of the boot may start to rub over a period of time. If this happens, a layer of vasoline around the top of the boot can prevent this.

There are also a few options for materials the boots are made from, consult with your farrier about the most suitable option for your horse and their environment.
