We are proud to announce the launch of our latest website, designed for the Wote Street Club in Basingstoke. It can be found at www.wotestreetclub.co.uk/about.php and is designed to give staff and committee members the chance to update news, forthcoming events and much more without the need of any programming skills.

Built in a similar vein to the Westside Social Club website we designed last year, this site is much more mobile friendly and offers the authorised users an extra degree of ease and support when it comes to them msking their day-to-day updates.

The site is designed using a number of different programming languages, from HTML5 (for general layout) to PHP & MySql (for database management) and Javascript (to allow an interactive experience.)

The Wote Street Club is a friendly social club in the heart of Basingstoke Town Centre. With live music every weekend and regular week-night activities such as pool, darts and crib, there is something to appeal to all ages and new members are always welcomed.

It's become apparent to many developers that Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) will display an error message or simply not run many websites using Javascript. In our opinion, this is another example of how Microsoft try to own the web by favoring their own programming languages over more established web-friendly ones.

If your scripts don't run on IE9 we've found that this can be rectified by declaring your variables at the beginning of the script. This seems a step backwards because Javascript was designed to be easy to use without the need to declare variables but it seems that Microsoft are either too blind to see this fault with their browser or are trying to force developers down a certain route.

For example, if you use a variable called "name" to store a user's moniker then the script:
{
name="(WHATEVER INPUT IS RECEIVED)";
}
will display an error message or not work.

first declare the variable as an empty string;
{
var name="";
}
then when the input is received the new name can be transferred to that variable without disruption.

Have now competed the Westside Community Centre website.
This may appear a very standard website but there are very complex features built in that allows an administrator to edit the various adverts, forthcoming events and regular activities.
This involves a lot of database programming so that user settings can be stored and updated and a user interface to allow easy editing by the administrator with no need for knowledge in HTML.

www.hot-brushin.co.uk is now complete. The home page and the contact page contain a merging slideshow while the other pages are galleries of work done under each heading. By moving the mouse over a thumbnailed pic you get an enlarged image on the right of the page. The contact page will automatically open the visitors email should they wish to contact this way. All this plus free hosting for a year just £300

Asked what the string of numbers were before the address. 79.170.44.155 is the IP(Internet Protocol)address of the server the site is stored on. This is like a phone number and is how PCs talk to each other.The actual address such as hot-brusin.co.uk or facebook.com is for human benefit.When you visit a site your Internet Service Provider changes the address to the set of numbers so your PC can access the site.
