It’s that time of year again I’m afraid.
With the forever increase in gas and electric and now the minimum wage high increase as a small family run business we have no choice but to increase our prices again.
I have kept them as low as we possibly can but without this increase we would be unable to stay open to care for your pets.
In a more upbeat note.
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas and New Year and we look forward to seeing you next year.
Any booking made before the increase in 2nd January 2024 will be honoured at last years prices.

Can anyone help?
Charnwood kennels in Blackpool have dog coats, blankets and bags of dog food which we want to donate to homeless people with dogs but we can’t find any.
Does anyone know where they are likely to be during both the day and night time?
Also any donation at Charnwood, division lane are greatly appreciated and any volunteers to help us distribute the donations are greatly appreciated.

I’m trying to get feedback from our boarders.
We have recently done level 3 courses in daycare as well as boarding and are thinking about opening daycare to our boarders.
This would mean that whilst your dog is boarding with us for an additional fee they could go into daycare for half or full days and play with other dogs, extra toys etc.
They would still have their usual walks and kennel but would spend the majority of their days in daycare rather than kennels?
Would this be of any interest to anyone.
It would be space depending and wouldn’t have to be everyday.

Following last years price increase due to our industry receiving no help throughout covid I was hoping this year we would be able to hold our prices.
However due to the current financial situation with inflation, utility bills and minimum wage I have no choice but to increase our prices again at the beginning of 2023.
Any booking for 2023 will be honoured at our current prices.
I am currently working on our price increase to make it as low as possible and as soon as I have the new prices I will post them.

We now have downloadable PDF forms on our website.

These can be printed out at home and filled in at home then brought in on arrival.

This should help us to speed up our checking in service.

I don't think any of us was quite expecting the jubilee bank holiday quite to be as busy!! So we apologise for any delays caused.

In time (once I manage to work out how)! I hope to also have the forms avaialble on facebook.

We have limited availability now so please get in youch asap with any bookings to avoid disappointment.

Polite reminder.

We are closing at 12.00 midday on spring bank holiday and platinum jubilee.

Also we are encouraging as many arrivals and departures to be in the morning.
As we are so busy we are trying to keep the afternoons as free as possible to concentrate on feed and walking.

In addition to our previous status regarding updating our terms and conditions.
We realise that response times for emails, messages etc can sometimes be longer than we would like due to our job being mainly hands on.
Therefore, fingers crossed we may have a full time admin manager who can start to take care of our messages, emails and calls so that this side runs more smoothly.
We will keep you all posted and as Winn as training has been done hopefully we will be able to send registration forms etc via email to reduce arrival time waits in reception. 🤞

We are currently updating all of our booking in forms and data inline with new licensing and defra regulations.

This may cause a slightl delay in reception on arrival.

Please be patient and we will process arrivals as quickly as possible.

Anyone who wishes to collect a new form in advance are more than welcome to do so between 9.30-12.00.

Unfortunately due to how busy our staff are it isn’t possible for us to email the new forms to everyone.

These are the main signs that we look out for. Luckily our kennels are cool in the summer and we work our walking times around the weather and check water bowls on a regular basis.
It’s worth a look so that owners know the signs too.

With the warmer weather ahead, owners should be mindful of the signs of heatstroke. 🌡️ Heatstroke is a serious illness that develops when a dog gets too hot and is unable to lower its temperature. Left untreated, heatstroke can lead to seizures, organ failure and even death.

Any dog can develop heatstroke, but overweight, young, elderly, flat-faced, giant-breed, and thick-coated dogs are particularly at risk, even from just sitting out in hot weather.

Some of the most common triggers for heatstroke include:
🥵 Overheating during exercise - accounts for 74% of cases
☀️ Being outside in hot weather (even just sitting still) - accounts for 12.9% of cases
🚘♨️ Being trapped in a hot car - accounts for 5.2% of cases

🧊 Please note that ice cubes are perfectly safe for dogs to use as a treat to cool down on a hot day. It is when a dog is suffering from heatstroke that the drastic change in temperature from the ice can cause shock, and therefore should be avoided. As I am sure a lot of our regular clients already know, since good Friday we have had major phone problems with both our landline and mobile.
The landline is diverted permanently to my mobile so that we can provide a 24/7 service.
The landline stopped diverting.
So a new iPhone 13 (thinking it was the mobile phone), swapping networks (thinking it was the network after a lot of trial and error investigations! Only to move to a network where we all get very sketchy signal in the kennels, cattery and house. And now moving back to our original provider. Only to find out it was the landline that had an issue!!!! (Of course we called the landline provider straight away but they was unaware of the problem at that time!
Anyway…… tomorrow 12th may. We may be unavailable on the phone whilst hopefully all of our problems are fixed. We have to turn all of our phones off whilst it is all transferred and fixed!
Our phones hopefully will be diverted to our kennel manager jade Devlin. This also means Facebook, Google and yell may also be unavailable.

We are very busy and have staff with covid so our priority is caring for our animals.
Viewings are time consuming.
We will be doing them again after 24th April anyway 10.00-12.00.
