Lungworm
🐄 Do you vaccinate for lungworm? 🐄
🪱 We have seen a rise in lungworm cases in recent months and want to ensure preventative health care for your herd.
🐄 In some herds, clinical lungworm may not be seen for many years. This can lead to complacency about preventative measures and, in a year when the conditions favour the parasite, outbreaks can occur.
🪱 Usually, calves in their first grazing season are at greatest risk of disease, although older animals can still become infected. Often, but not always, it is characterised by the classic “husk” cough.

Cattle Housing
🏠🐄 Winter housing can be a very stressful time for cattle, particularly if you are moving animals, changing diets and mixing groups, and it can have a negative impact on their immune system efficiency, which can result in an increase in the spread of disease 🏠🐄
It does however give you a chance to give cattle a thorough MOT - not only are vaccines vital but its worth checking for fluke (we have had a very wet year), mites, lice and sucking parasites.
