We'd like to please reiterate that we do not tolerate abusive or intimidating behaviour towards our team and ask for our clientโ€™s ongoing kindness and patience when bringing their pets in.

We would like for our teams to be able to continue to look after you and your pets efficiently and without interruption or distress.

We understand the new RCVS rules on dispensing prescription medications are frustrating but they are something we must adhere to.

Thank you ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿšจ Important Update for XL Bully Owners ๐Ÿšจโ€‹

โ€‹The government has announced an extension to the deadline for neutering young XL Bully dogs, following engagement with the veterinary industry.โ€‹

โ€‹๐Ÿ—“๏ธ New Neutering Deadline: For XL Bully dogs under seven months on 31st January 2024, the new deadline is extended to 30th June 2025. This decision aims to ensure the safe management of the XL Bully dog population while balancing their welfare with public safety.โ€‹

โ€‹Neutering Reminders:โ€‹

Dogs aged under 7 months on the 31st January 2024 are now to be neutered by 30th June 2025โ€‹

Dogs aged 7 โ€“ 12 months on 31st January 2024, must be neutered by the end of 2024โ€‹

Older dogs (over 1 year on 31st January 2024) must be neutered by 30th June 2024โ€‹

โ€‹Owners of older dogs are reminded to book a neutering appointment with the vet well in advance of the deadline.โ€‹

โ€‹Failure to provide evidence of neutering by the deadline may result in legal repercussions, including potential seizure of the dog by the police.โ€‹

๐Ÿšซ Breeding and rehoming of XL Bully dogs remain prohibited, regardless of age.โ€‹

For any questions or to schedule a neutering appointment, please contact us as soon as possible. Your cooperation ensures the welfare of your pet and compliance with legal requirements.

Did you know that sneezing isn't the only sign of allergies in our pets?

Cats can experience various symptoms like itching, skin redness, ear infections, or digestive issues. Similarly, our canine companions might be silently battling allergies, showing signs such as itching, excessive licking, watery eyes, or digestive troubles.

These symptoms, whether triggered by food or environmental factors, can make our furry friends uncomfortable and impact their happiness. Have questions or concerns about your pet's health? We're here to help! Reach out to our team to discuss any allergy-related worries your furry friend might be facing. - 01625 668536

26/01/2024

At the end of last year, it was announced there would be changes to how vets are allowed to prescribe some prescription medicines. This included antibiotics and some medicines that treat parasites (like fleas and worms). These changes have now come into effect.

Most significantly, now some parasite products can only legally be prescribed for 12 months and at the time of a clinical examination by a vet. This may mean you need to come in for a consultation with a vet to ensure we can dispense your usual product.

These changes are beyond our control and have been implemented by the RCVS to fight drug resistance and protect the environment.
Any patients without a prescription (including those not seen in the last 12 months) will need a vet check that will be charged at a reduced fee.

If you have any questions, please speak to a team member for more information โ˜Ž๏ธ

Weโ€™ve been delighted to welcome you all back into the surgery with your pets after more than two years of disruption through Covid. It was good to see you all again.

We have some other news for you. After almost 40 years in the profession, and 15 years since he set up Broken Cross Vets, Ray Humphreys is retiring and will be leaving the practice in August.

Weโ€™re sad to see him go, as Ray has become friends with many of you and your pets.

Weโ€™re delighted to say the practice will be in safe hands following Rayโ€™s retirement and all the other familiar faces will still be here.

Our experienced, caring nursing team, who you have come to know, will still be here to provide the best possible care of your pets, and we are delighted to welcome a familiar face back to the practice.

Holly Graham will be joining us and will continue to provide the excellent service and care youโ€™ve come to expect from Broken Cross Vets.

Holly is an experienced vet, who lives locally, and some of you may even have met her as she has worked at the surgery in the past. She is looking forward to welcoming you and your pets to the surgery. If youโ€™ve any questions, please donโ€™t hesitate to get in touch.

04/03/2022

Thanks to all our wonderful clients for their understanding whilst we have had to reduce our service during Ray Humphreys's sick leave.
Our vet is now back at work and we are providing normal weekday surgery times and consultations 9-5 Mon to Fri [not weekends]
We have now also started to allow everyone back into the building, although we are still for the moment limiting numbers in the waiting room at the same time.
Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you and you pets if you need us.

29/12/2021

We hope all our wonderful clients have had a happy and healthy Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year
As you all well know the last 2 years have been very challenging and we are grateful to you for putting up with us having to work in less conventional ways to continue to provide veterinary services for your pets.We look forward to the time when we can welcome you back into our surgery in a normal manner.
During January and early February we will have reduced vet cover for a while, although our excellent nurses will be here and available as usual and they will be able to provide a whole range of services and advice for you. We will be able to confirm consulting hours and dates in the New Year if you contact the surgery. We will be able to triage urgent or serious cases as necessary.Rest assured we will still strive to provide the best possible service and by the end of February something nearer normal service should be resumed.
Thanks in advance and best wishes for 2022

26/03/2021

Hope all our clients are keeping safe & well. For the moment we are keeping to our limited opening of Mon-Friday 9-5 and doing our best to offer a full range of services and appointments.
Please do not try to message us via the facebook message link as we are currently unable to access the messages and so cannot respond.Either telephone the surgery on 01625 668536 or use the email link on our website [email protected] and we can reply to queries this way ( although it is easier to book appointments via the telephone)

To all our clients.
Unfortunately, due to staffing issues in the present lockdown and changes in current RCVS and government guidance, we are again forced to reduce our opening hours to 9-5 Monday to Friday. We will also be reducing the number of routine procedures we can perform.Rest assured we remain staffed and available during these hours and will attend to urgent and emergency cases as promptly as possible.Other issues will be triaged on a case by case basis. As ever we thank you for your understanding and assistance in this matter at this difficult time for everyone.
Please phone as usual for an appointment on 01625 668536. If you are unwell, Covid symptomatic or self isolating please do not attend the surgery.
We hope this situation does not last too long and we will update as soon as there is any change.

31/12/2020

Happy New Year to all our wonderful clients and their pets.Back to normal[Covid] hours on Jan 4th.
Hope you've all managed a good Christmas and staying safe in the latest version of lockdown.
Perhaps we can all get back to normal during 2021.BEST WISHES ALL.

04/11/2020

Hope all our clients and their pets are keeping safe and well.Following the recent announcement of a month long lockdown in England we are sure everyone is worrying whether we will be shutting down to emergencies only as in March. Subject to Royal College guidance we will continue to see as many patients as we can, subject to inidividual risk assessment, whilst still not allowing anyone onto the premises( as has been the case since March) .We are likely to postpone routine procedures such as nail trims etc but will continue to try to catch up on vaccinations and will still be performing surgery where appropriate. Please ring for an appointment if you need one.If you or any of your family have symptoms of Covid 19 ,have been in contact or are self isolating please DO NOT attend the surgery.
We're here to help.

20/08/2020

It's time for another Covid update from Broken Cross Vet Surgery.
Many thanks again to all our wonderful clients for their continued support and understanding in these extraordinary times.
We are now performing all routine surgeries and appointments, when appropriate and considering RCVS and Public Health guidelines.
Our opening hours are now 9-6 Monday to Friday but we are unable to open weekends for the moment.
Out of hours and emergencies are still covered by the team at A& E vets, please call 0161 486 2355 if you need help.[this number is also on our answerphone message]
We are still operating a closed door policy and allowing only animals on the premises, avoiding risk of infection to staff or clients and the consequent closure of the surgery.
Please pre -order repeat medications and where possible book appointments well in advance. We are very busy in this catchup period and there will be sometimes be a wait to be seen ,especially as everything by necessity takes a little longer in this new way of working. We do our best to run to time but it is not always possible, apologies if this sometimes causes inconvenience..

We will update you if and when any further changes take place.
