4 years since Farmer Dan popped the question

🌻 There’s something magical about sunflowers at Libby’s Patch Farm.

One summer day, 4 years ago in the middle of haymaking and welcoming visitors, Farmer Dan had a little surprise up his sleeve. Right there among the golden blooms, during a simple photo shoot, he dropped to one knee and asked Bethan the question that would change everything 💍.

She said yes — and just like that, the sunflower field wasn’t just a place to pick flowers anymore. It became part of our story, a memory we’ll carry forever.

At Libby’s Patch, every visit creates memories. Some are for a day, some for a lifetime — and some, like this one, are truly unforgettable. ❤️

Someone said we only show horses walking on soft ground so this one is for you guys

2 weeks and 5 days Hector has been enjoying life on our tracks.

In the top videos Hector was on a huge amount of pain relief and EMS drugs

When Hector arrived at GTL we immediately performed an realignment trim and fitted him with Equine Fusion boots and Chimney Sheep Ltd wool pads

We reduced his pain relief to 2 types AM and PM- over the days we slowly weaned him of the pain meds and he’s been totally medication free for the past 6 days.

Hes not been on any of the EMS drugs whilst here.

Hector was walking like the bottom video very quickly (11th August) and he continues to improve.

Whilst track life is important it isn’t what made Hector comfortable - the trim did that.

The source of Hector’s pain was the terribly trimmed and shod hooves he was stood on- even on a deep shavings bed and masses of pain relief it’s clear he was still in a huge amount of pain and distress.

When we unearthed Topcat’s bones, I passed them to Lindsay Setchell—founder of Hoofing Marvellous

She studied the P3s and said, “Look, there’s remodelling at the tip of P3. At some point, he must have been up on the tip of P3 at some point .”

I immediately replied, “No way. His feet were so flat and collapsed when he first arrived.”

But then I pulled out my phone to show Lindsay the photos of his feet. The moment I saw the picture, it hit me—I was looking with fresh eyes. Eyes that now understand the hoof capsule and its true shape.

I had to laugh at myself and admit, “Oh! Ignore me, I was wrong.” 🫣🤯

Now I can clearly see the long heels and the hairline sitting more horizontal than it should have been.

The reason I’m sharing this is because I often see comments like, “My horse had rotation but his feet were perfectly balanced.” When I ask for photos, the response is usually, “It was years ago, I don’t have any.”

But here’s the truth: what we remember and what the reality actually was are often two very different things
