The Emmipet Ultrasonic teeth cleaning service. Here are some fabulous results on a couple of this weeks regulars. These two beauties only had a minor case of plaque build up, so their pearly whites were achievable just after one 15-20 minute session!

Emmipet is a safe and reliable treatment to get those plaque stained teeth and gums back into great shape. The cost of this treatment will be dependant on how severe the build up is on your pets teeth and the results will vary dependant on how regularly you keep up with the treatments. If your pets teeth are in bad shape, you can expect weekly 1 hour deep cleaning sessions to be needed to restore a healthy smile and gums. Maintenance cleans (15-30 minute sessions) will then need to be carried out regularly (with every 1-2 grooms) to keep on top of that new smile to keep them in tip top shape (as well as keep the cost low!)

What a great invention to keep our pets teeth healthy - meaning no costly or risky treatments under anaesthetic at the vet.

This handsome little man here is called Lockie and he is a Cockerpoo. Lockie and his owners came to me around a year ago now, after struggling to find a groomer that Lockie could really bond with as he struggles with a lot of general anxiety in his daily life.

In the beginning, we really struggled to get Lockie through my door for his grooms, he would hide away in the back of the car and put his 4 brakes on, refusing to come inside and ultimately would need to be carried in.

Like his past groomers, I couldn’t really get near certain areas. His length was causing him discomfort, and his owners struggled to keep on top of it at home due to his negative outlook on grooming.

Fast forward to now, Lockie has been coming to me regularly while his owners have been putting in tons of hard work at home to improve his quality of life, reducing his anxiety, and of course theirs too. He now runs into my salon with a wagging tail, very obviously happy to visit me, and is no longer reactive with any part of his groom. We agreed on a short haircut to keep him comfortable and knot free, making his grooms an all round positive and stress free experience. His owners love the look and the little maintenance his coat needs between grooms and are just overjoyed that he is comfortable and happy.

This just goes to show that when owners do put the work in at home, with both the coat and the behaviour, a reactive and unhappy mindset in any dog can be turned around.

It’s a real breath of fresh air for all groomers to have this type of customer. It doesn’t come easy these days, with lots of ‘teddy breed’ dogs not having their hair maintained properly or at all for the several weeks between grooms, and the owner expecting the groomer to work miracles; to do the impossible.

Your pet’s haircut should always be suited to their lifestyle and how much work you are willing to put in at home. If you are continuously bringing a knotty, matted dog to their grooming appointment, you will always have a very unhappy pet and groomer no matter where you go. At the end of the day, hair grows back really quickly, the priority is and always will be the comfort of the animals, there are laws we as groomers and animal lovers have to follow, we are advocates for these dogs and no good dog groomer will ever put any animal through the pain and torture of having an unkept coat brushed out or risk a horrific grooming related injury for the sake of a fluffy haircut. 🩵🐾🩵

A selfie of me & Bertie mid groom! Bertie was pretty much un-groomable when he first came to me a couple years back. Now he is one of my best pals. Though he’ll never totally love being groomed, and his haircuts will never be perfect, he has come such a long way and his Mum is just always so pleased that I can get him done so that he’s tidy, comfortable and not stressed during his visits. ❤️

Bailey the Pomeranian is a regular at The Cabin in the Woofs and is one of my star pupils! He had a few issues with his coat before coming to me for the first visit a couple years back now, common in this breed once the coat has been clipped down too short. Since he started visiting me regularly for his grooms, I’ve been nursing his coat and skin back to health and he really does look so much better for it. It will never be perfect but what an improvement over time. Trust the process! 🩵 He is definitely telling me to talk to the hand in his after pic 😂

Not long to go now! 😁 Slowly but surely getting through my list! 😅

It’s lovely to see Neville and Nelson taking care of little Norris since losing his beloved companion. ❤️ It’s extremely uncommon for rabbits to get along in groups and so are mostly kept in pairs (you know what they say, 3’s a crowd!) But it seems Norris has been welcomed with open paws! 🥰🐇
