Thank you so much to the people who donated potted Christmas trees earlier this year 🥰🥰🥰.
They ended up being planted in the lemurs garden who absolutely love them ♥️.
Not only have they been nibbling the ends it has provided hours of sniffing, scent marking and a perfect place for keepers to hide their dinner.
We have got our first Family Zoo Day on the 30th of March if you want to come and visit all the animals who are slowly emerging as we get our first glimpses of spring 🌼🌸🌺🪷🪻

Every year we take part in the BIAZA secret Santa.
This is where lots of BIAZA Zoos will swap gifts to spread some festive cheer. Here's a video of keepers Sam and Ross opening our gift.
Thank you to Askham Bryan Wildlife & Conservation Park for the lovely presents 🥰🥰🥰

Happy World Animal Day! The idea for World Animal Day was started in 1925 by Heinrich Zimmermann to help raise awareness of conservation and welfare issues all over the world.
Here's a video of our Meerkat Mob playing with an old washing basket, novel items are a great form of enrichment giving them something new to explore and sniff.
Show us enrichment you've made for your pets at home in the comments below and don't forget to wish them a Happy World Animal Day! 🐵🦝🐍
Terminology Tuesday -Venomous vs Poisonous
Two terms often used interchangeably to describe an animal which possesses toxins, it is important to understand the differences between animals which are poisonous and venomous.
Interestingly, slow lorises are one of the few venomous mammals in the world!
Can you name any other venomous animals? How about poisonous ones? Let us know in the comments!

Terminology Tuesday - Ectotherm
A common term in the zoology world, referring to animals which rely on external sources to regulate body temperature. A great example of this are the snakes that reside at BCA, having to bask under their heat lamps or sitting in the shade to keep the right temperature 🐍

Serenade of the forest- the Tokay gecko
As many of you have heard from travels or media, a healthy rainforest is often far from quiet. With a mixture of amphibians, reptiles and insects using the cover of darkness to explore, there is so much to be heard whilst most of us are asleep.
A perfect example is our Tokay geckos, making the noise which gave them their name. In fact, did you know that these geckos can change their call depending on how noisy it is? This is certainly useful in the rainforests of South and Southeast Asia where they live.

3) Historically, they have been used to hunt rabbits and rodents in the UK
Good luck, share with your friends, and let us know in the comments who you think Fay and Emily are portraying!
