Fantastic news!

We now need this proposed Bill introduced to the UK Parliament as a matter of urgency, and passed into law before the next General Election.

So who is Rosie Pony and what is she here for?!

I thought I’d wait and give you an update from her previous owner who could also give her full background and why she has now ended up with me . See the photos above of her history and journey so far.

You can see by the post made by her previous owner Heather and daughter India; how much they truly love Rosie. Finding her the right home was super important to them. She is such a well bred Connemara that they could easily have sold her to anyone for quite a considerable sum, even as just a brood mare, but they didn’t. They chose me and I was the lucky one able to buy her. It’s nice to know there are those out there who really and truly care for their horses and that finding the right happy ending is far more important than monetary gains.

I’m so glad they chose me to have her 🥰. She has settled so well and has become a firm favourite of my big horse Dougal 🤣.

I am so pleased to have Rosie here and cannot wait to start my own KC home bred ponies!

Paddy has found a new home!

Yesterday I said farewell to the gorgeous Paddy, now to be called Oakley. It was love at first sight for these two. He is to become this girls new best friend after recently selling her much smaller best friend onto pastures new.

These guys wanted a quality youngster to bring on and break in themselves and he fit the bill perfectly. Such a gentle lovely soul. Within moments of meeting him in the school he was following her everywhere which was just wonderful to see such an instant connection 💗💙.

This wonderful pony loaded up without even a hesitation, travelled home with no issues and then out to meet his new chestnut buddy at his new home. He has settled really well and so his new chapter begins. Wishing all the luck in the world to his new owners, who are just lovely and have promised him a forever home.

Cannot wait to watch these two grow together 🥰.

Lovely to get an update on Fiona yesterday.

Her new rider Max, who will be doing 148cms on her in the coming years; had his first proper jump on her at home yesterday.

She is currently being trained by his big sister whilst he’s still on the smaller ponies jumping in those classes.

Great to see them coming together as a partnership and excited for further updates!

Update!!! How special is this beautiful dun 4 year old mare…

Narla left me as an unbroken 3 year old. Due to personal circumstances I had to let her go earlier than I’d have liked but what a perfect choice this was… just look at her now! She went to the most wonderful of homes, to a mum and daughter who I now call my friends 🥰.

They have done the most amazing job with her. After doing lots of additional groundwork with her themselves, she then went off for professional breaking. They could have done it themselves, Brooke had already sat on her and could have continued from there… Brooke is a wonderful jockey, and her mum Laura has a great understanding of horses, but that was the right choice for them at the time… and she came back to them prepped and ready to go!

… and my my, was she ready to go! They have done lots of slow and steady training to begin with… beach rides, fun outings! They’ve then gone on to go out hunting numerous times, where Narla behaved impeccably! Since then, more showjumping, cross country and lessons at their new lovely yard.

So happy to watch this star pony continue her education! Lots more fun to be had this year for and her jockey Brooke. I cannot wait to follow their journey further, give them a follow as well to see another beautiful Connemara having the best life!

Update! You won’t believe this…

The gorgeous Fiona has been with her wonderful new owners now over three months!! …and what fun they have had with her since she arrived home. From arena hires, to popping cross country fences… and even some shows… she’s just gone from strength to strength and it’s so wonderful to see her doing what she is bred for and most importantly; LOVING IT!

It’s so important for me to find suitable homes for all my babies I produce. I bring them over from Ireland as complete blank canvasses and put a lot of groundwork in on all of them. Followed by the start of their ridden careers after breaking in. No ponies are ever rushed, and Fiona definitely needed time to settle when she first arrived! The transporter that dropped her off even said ‘you’ve got a sharp one here!’. He wasn’t wrong, she’d hardly been handled at all before I got her and was a challenge at the start.. but just goes to show you what a lovely breed they are, that with a little time, patience and understanding.. they come great in the end!

I truly couldn’t be happier with how she is getting on, and it’s wonderful to maintain contact with lovely new owners who send me updates and pictures, they are as proud of her as I am! This pony is being aimed at 148cm Showjumping classes with her junior jockey in the coming years. I really cannot wait to go and see them in some of the big finals at the top shows; as I just know Princess Fiona is destined to be a Top Track Pony on the circuit!

Happy New Year! Better late than never right! (I think today is the cut off for new years greetings so I’m getting mine in!).

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Our families were all hit with the dreaded viruses that are going about, and all Christmas plans went out the window! With a family, horses, various other animals and general life to deal with including spinal surgeries, Strep A and recovery it’s been hard work to say the least! Hence being so quiet on here (new years resolution, be more active!) Oh well, we carry on! 🙌🏼👍🏼🙏🏼

Here’s hoping 2023 is a little smoother than 2022 was for us!(…and for you if 2022 wasn’t your favourite either!)

I have some very exciting things planned for this year.. can’t wait to share them with you all.

There is a place that you go,
No matter what you believe,
While all those who love you,
Take time to grieve.

The sweet smell of hay,
And the greenest of grass,
Gentle soft muzzles,
A place time doesn’t pass.

Your loss will be felt,
But we’ll take comfort and know,
The day that you left,
We knew where you’d go.

Reunited with loved ones,
No more to depend,
Reins in one hand,
Your ride never ends.

While we all mourn,
While we’ve lost someone great,
We know that so many,
Wait for you at the gate.

Thank you, your majesty,
For all that you’ve done,
Gather up the reins now,
It’s your time to ride on.

So as I had a jumping lane up…

…. I thought I’d give this chap a jump. I’ve never seen him leave the ground properly until today and well what a happy boy he was to have a pop! He loved it!

He took himself around the school and down to the jumps with no need for any encouragement at all.

We only did a few pops around the school as he’s only 2… but my my… he’s a natural. Cannot wait to start breaking him in if he’s not snapped up by someone before then that is.

So much love for her that she deserves another post following my last one!

Look at those knees and her back end… well up and over! (Considering she is the size of a house due to lack of work and the house move) she still just comes out the field and does this with ease.

She is such a lovely genuine mare. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for her.

Today I had a play with Fifi in my new school. My goodness this mare can jump 💗 💗 #148

Firstly… Happy long bank holiday weekend everyone!

Now… Would you even think this was the same pony in the two photographs?!

No?! Well it sure is! The lovely Class 1 Purebred Connemara Gelding, Paddy.

Paddy arrived over from Ireland on the 20th March, not looking the best to be honest, even the transporter asked if I’d rehomed a neglected one 🤦🏼‍♀️. I carefully selected photos of him at the time when he arrived to post on here. As excited as I was to get him I didn’t want to show him looking quite so poor.

I knew I liked him when I saw him move in the videos I viewed… and goes to show that you need to sometimes look beyond the surface and imagine the end goal! I remember thinking to myself before I bought him, there is something special about this boy; something I like that I can’t quite put my finger on.. so I went for it and got him home.

I could see what a lovely chap he could become and was happy to take a chance on him… and boy am I glad I did!
He has just turned 2 years old in April and looks more like a four year old in the photo taken today!

It Just goes to show you that a with a bit of TLC, some decent grass and a simple/basic feed regime (that doesn’t need to cost the earth and doesn’t need to be all these super duper balancers and supplements)… that it can make all the difference in such a short space of time.

I am one happy Connemara mama!

…. So where has Fiona gone?!

The lovely Fifi has gone to be ridden and competed by the wonderful family who bought Narla (Dun Filly) from me last year.

The talented .x will be continuing her education and getting her out to some clinics and competitions. She is a cracking little mare who is rising 5 this year.

Having been left to mature over the winter she is now ready to come back into work and have some fun, gain some experience and start her successful competition career. This lovely mare having not been ridden for a few weeks, happily loaded up into the trailer, got off the other end and settled really well straight away. Brooke then tacked her up and she happily had a lovely ride in the school as if she had only been ridden yesterday.

Future Plans….

Ideally she will be aimed at a showjumping, and more so eventing career as she has the scope and ability to do all three disciplines very well 🤞🏼. She has fantastic breeding and is bred to jump!

Brooke is a very competent and capable jockey so it seemed the perfect choice to let her have some fun with Fi, and have the chance to compete this super Connemara mare. Brooke still has two years left in junior competitions so the possibility to affiliate is there 🤞🏼 .

As she is now based just up the road from me, it also means I can also continue her education as and when I get the chance (around running my yard and looking after the family!).

Fun times ahead for sure, which is the most important part of all of this. As long as you’re having fun with your ponies and horses, then that’s all that really matters 🥰

Introducing ‘Paddy’. Full Connemara (class 1 breeding) rising 2 this year.

This lovely boy arrived last night. Happily walked off the lorry and into the quarantine barn for the night. He will stay here for a couple of weeks just until we know he’s not picked anything up on his way over.

Meeting him properly this morning he is lovely. Very kind and affectionate. Walked out the stable nicely (a few manners to learn like walking totally in his own space, but he’s only a baby so as expected!).

I let him off in the paddock with a head collar on (just incase he is a bu**er to catch)… and he had a little play.. then head down and straight to grazing! I then walked up to him numerous times no bother, so took his head collar off and let him be.. he’s going to be no problem to catch and that was very quick to see… so he is now having a lovely afternoon in the sun.

Hopefully this week sees the weather stay warm and he can have a much needed bath! Until then, he can just relax and be a pony in the field, and recover from his journey over from Ireland.

Very pleased with him indeed. He’s got a beautiful head and will be a contender for the show ring when he matures and fills out. Looking forward to watching him blossom with the spring grass in the coming months.

Well how lovely is this…

The lovely lady I purchased both Binky and Paddy from, sent me a card and gifts with the transporter this evening who dropped Paddy off; wishing us all the best with our upcoming house move.

What a truly lovely surprise this was. 🥰

In the scary world we live in today it’s so wonderful that there are those who are still so kind, selfless and most of all, thoughtful. There was no need to do this, but she just ‘did’ ❤️🥰.

Now let’s just appreciate this little superstar!

Narla (was Lily) who I sold back in September last year, this week started her ridden career. Taking everything in her stride like an absolute pro.

Her owners .laura.xx39 & .x … have done an absolutely amazing job over the winter with her. Taking it one step at a time, continuing her groundwork education with lots of various activities, much more lunging and long reigning meaning that she was more than ready for the next step this week… to be sat on and ridden away.

Great job guys and makes me so proud and happy that she is fulfilling her potential with you. There is so much fun to be had this spring and summer! I absolutely cannot wait to see the coming months… and hope to come and visit and watch for myself 🥰.

The opening sale of 2022 at the Connemara Pony Sales saw the highest price in almost 15 years. Judith Faherty reports

Now just look at this for a jumper. Knows his job for sure! Look at that back end!

He’s always been a very special Connemara for me and I kept him a lot longer than originally planned… but watching this, you can see why I fell in love with him!

Harry is now flying over hedges in style with his new owner .sj , who continues to do an amazing job with him!

Such a pleasure to see ponies you’ve sold onto their new homes, thriving and doing all they were ever meant to.. and most of all; enjoying themselves and bringing so much pleasure to their rider! Makes it all worth while 🥰

Picking the good ones is something I hope to continue to do, with the new ponies coming through the ranks being produced in 2022. I always go for good breeding and that certain little something you can’t quite put your finger on, but you know like it 😜.
