I have a few clients in the Sittingbourne and Isle of Sheppey area and I'll be covering that area on Thursday this week and a day next week. I'm looking to build my clientele in here and surrounding areas, as it means I can keep my prices reasonable for you.

How I run my diary currently is on a Sunday afternoon, I get my groom schedule for the upcoming week and I then allocate days and times for massage around that. Mondays are the best days for an early morning appointment but I'm often available late morning/early afternoon onwards, with Tuesday and Thursdays the best days for early evening appointments.

Today I was at a local riding school massaging their ponies. Its so disheartening to see so many riding schools closing these days and because I know how hard these guys have it with overheads etc, I offer a really competitive rate.

I'm also really passionate about the fact that if we aren't born into the Whitaker family, our local riding schools are often the first and for some, the only place kids get to experience horse riding and being around horses. It's important for me to support riding schools, RDA and any equine establishment that give children and young adults opportunities.

Have you ever looked at a zebra and wondered why we don't ride them like we do horses?
Well good news!
You aren't alone, and in fact, humans have tried to domesticate them!
But zebras said no and we said ok and this picture reminds me of that fact

You guys see me post pics of jack here on my page quite a lot! But I do actually have 2 other horses aswell! (I know, crazy! 🤣).

Here is ziggy 🥰

Ziggy was my first horse and definitely by far the trickiest. When we first got ziggy we figured he was an absolute gentlemen to ride and had the sweetest nature around both adults and kids, but we also figured quite quickly that he would not load, and other tasks such as having his shoes and teeth done were near on impossible to do!

After working at these tasks, slowly but surely we had lots of improvement! We we’re then able to have much more fun, we attended clinics and some low level dressage, where we both started to build more of a partnership and things really started to come together.

One day we visited a neighbouring yard (as they had a much bigger school then we did at home) for a lesson. After a great lesson ziggy decided he didn’t want to load to go home! And after a massive almighty rear.… ziggy had fallen backwards and landed square on his wither, fracturing it! Quite quickly, our ridden days were put on pause, and his rest and rehab was a very very long one! We were absolutely devastated!

Not only did ziggy make me a better rider… but he definitely taught me a level of patience… and still does!
We are back riding and ziggy still enjoys it just as much as he did before ☺️🙌🏼 His wither just looks a little flat!

I would say he is the reason I’m so into rehab, seeing him happy after so much pain is so rewarding!

There's a Saturday slot available and some late afternoon appointments this week and next.

It is important to understand that ALL horses can benefit from massage, from performance horses to happy hackers, but also our retired horses that spend their days grazing ☺️

Treatment when used for maintenance can:

-Maintain healthy muscles
-Maintain strength and suppleness
-Prevent atrophy (wasting)
-Help with stiffness
-Enhance tissue repair

Treatment used pre or post competition has the same effect, and for a horse with a heavier workload, it is recommended that treatment is made regular.

Signs of potential stiffness and/or discomfort, that massage will benefit:

-when your horse has a significantly better rein.
-when they struggle to find the correct lead when picking up canter.
-Started bucking or rearing.
-Cold backed when tacking up or mounting.
-shows discomfort while being groomed
-Head tilt or lack of poll flexion.
-Holds tail to one side.
-Uneven stride length.

Had great fun meeting this 21 years young mare this morning. All credit to her responsible owner that understands the importance of these kind of maintenance sessions. 🙌

Can we believe it’s already June!

5 weeks ago, I visited him at his loan home, and ended up taking him home the same day! Let’s just say he was put through it a little bit 😥 (post to follow) 5 weeks later he is happy, feeling and looking healthy again!

By far one of my favourite visits in a long time! 🥰

These two lovely young ladies asked lots of question during their ponies massage, on both skeletal and muscle groups. It was very apparent that they had done their research and were very keen to improve their ponies well being.

A lot of the time when us therapists blabber on about muscle groups, it can get a little technical and some information doesn’t ‘soak in’ 😂 but I made sure to quiz them, and they scored a wonderful 10/10!

Due to a busy diary and the lovely change in weather, I am opening up my evenings and weekends to bookings 🙂
