Last night I had the pleasure of meeting a bouncy 10month old cavapoo called Flossy. She was super well behaved for her first ever nail clip.
Clipping your dogs nails from a young age can be really beneficial to both them and you! It can get them used to having their feet touched and the sensation/ sound of the nails being clipped, making it a lot easier to do in the long run. Secondly, if you’ve got a bouncy puppy that likes to jump up…it can stop them leaving you covered in scratches 😂

Take a look at what to protect your dogs from this Christmas. Working in an emergency veterinary practice I sadly see a lot of poisoning through lack of education for pet owners. If your dog does consume any of these pictures shown be sure to let your vets know ASAP. Keep your loved ones safe this December ❤️

I hope everyone’s pets were ok over the weekend 🎆here is my boy Scamp who took
comfort in sitting on my lap for the evening. It sounds cute but he’s a rather large boy at over 7kg so I had to put up with dead legs to keep him happy 😂💙

The firework period can be a very scary time for our animals, so here are some tips on how to help our fury friends!
- Shut all windows and curtains
- Have the tv on louder than normal or turn on the radio
- Create a den that they can go and hide away in
- With your dogs…try and walk them in the daytime and avoid taking them out as soon as daylight fades
- With your cats…keep them inside as the loud noises may make them run further from home
- Try to ignore the fireworks yourself! Sometimes by paying your pets more attention this can often feed their anxiety and make them feel there really is something to be scared of!

Today I met the lovely Missy for a nail clip. She is an amazing 18 years old so struggles with her nails getting quite long due to enjoying spending all her time indoors now. This is quite often the case with elderly cats as they aren’t as able to self care as well as they used to 💕

A common question I often come across from dog owners is…’how do I know if my dog’s a**l glands need expressing?’

The main signs to watch out for are:

- Scooting their rear end along the floor
- Excessive licking/ itching of the a**l area
- Strong fishy type smell coming from the rear end

Most dogs never need their a**l glands expressing, however some dogs will need help! It is advised that once they have been expressed for them they should then be done every 4-6 weeks.

Please feel free to message if you are unsure if this is something your dog requires or to book in!

I am hoping to offer assistance to the pet owner’s of Allington and surrounding areas, making both their pet’s and their own experience of veterinary services more positive!

From working in the industry for over 8years I have seen first hand how stressful going to the vets can be for some animals!
