Not too hot for a few games of ballie! Here we have Bertie (colourful Woolly), Whiskey (big splotchy), Noodles (Golden and wispy), Cookie (little old lady Beagle with a lot to say), Boomer (also a mature Beagle with loud opinions), Monsieur Alphonse (Frenchie x and a noisy ball obsessed nut job) plus my scruffy Waffles and Roxy (the other ball obsessed Staffie nut job). The rest of my crew were having nothing to do with it. Cookie didn't come outside to play but to complain about the excitement.

Strange coincidences recently here at the Hotel as everyone seems to be in a pair! . . . - two black labs - not together . . . two mature Beagles . . . also not together . . .two Bedlington X's . . . you guessed it, not together and two of the called Noodles. Is it any wonder I get confused easily these days 🤣x

Informal Doggy 1st Aid Lesson

Sunday 18th August 11am at the Best - not very exotic- Doggy Hotel

In light of a recent even when a dog in my care suffered anaphylactic shock after what was most likely a bee sting (he’s fine) a few of my friends told me they wouldn’t have known what to do. So, with this in mind, I thought I might hold a basics session for anyone who might want a few tips based on my experience.

I’m not going to charge for this as I’m not doing it on a professional basis but as a fun sharing of knowledge and experiences.

If you are interested please text me

Love M x

Morning walkies . . . in theory before it got too hot . . . in reality it was rather warm! but there was some decent shade too so we had a gentle potter around (well, some of us did!)

Scout the lab has just arrived for his hols - much to Sid the Boxer's delight as he has a big playmate now - but, sadly, it's Oaty's last day. Vinnie, Lulu and Rosie are all enjoying their stays too. The paddling pool has already seen plenty of paw cooling this morning and the cottage is wonderfully cool too.

My old camera has gradually become more and more temperamental (like it's old owner) so I have just invested in a new one and thought I'd give it a try out to get the hang of things and see what it can do . . . I'm in love! Hope you enjoy this selection as they are not all dogs this time! M x

Well at least the sun is putting in an odd appearance for Wilbur the Dobie on his first taster day! (Although I am wearing a jumper . . . what's that about in July?!) Also here are Bailey Beagle for his first sleep over, Bobbi the tiny Cockerpoo back for her annual hols, Ozzie the Destroyer (ok Min Pin) and Oxana the Springer and Juno gasp who are still enjoying their stays. Also not forgetting Pickle the Pickle who is just having a play day today plus, of course, my crew. Wilbur was a little shy to start with but has really hit it off with Bailey which is great to watch. Oz and Bobbi are well suited for a play too. Finally the Buzzard watched them all from my fence!

I’m delighted to say that I’ve heard Daisy has got a new home now - and thank you so much to all you kind hearted people who enquired after her.

If you are looking for a dog I do hope you have luck in your search - I’m a fatalist and really believe the right one will come along!

I’m afraid I don’t have any more details as I just put her on my site as a favour.

Oxana the Springer has come for her first holiday here - she's a quiet girl and a little shy but has really found her paws now! She had great fun with the two Judos - GSP Juno and Visla Baby Juno - bombing around in the long grass, it was just joyful to watch ( . . . although I must admit I am now losing my sense of humour with grass seed removal duties! especially from my Misty's coat ahhh)

Please note that your dog’s arrival and collection times are by appointment and should be requested in advance of the day and agreed. Whilst I can usually be flexible if you want/need to change the time we scheduled please run it by me first as the new time may not work for me!

For info:-

Arrival time is at an agreed time between 7.30am - 4.30pm. (I begin feeding at 5pm so like to have everypawdy settled in before then)

Collection time is at an agreed time between 10am - 5pm.

Please let me know your timings in advance as it helps me organise my day.

For info:- my “office” hours are 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday plus Monday and Saturday 10am to 12pm only for bookings etc as I occasionally have a life too! Yea! Get me! And, much as I am fond of you all, please respect my down time (unless you are just being sociable of course 😁) as the dogs all keep me pretty busy too and have their own needs and demands! Also please let me know your timings in advance as it helps me to organise my day. The best way to get hold of me is by text as I’m finding messages arrive in so many different ways I forget where I saw them and then forget to reply! No help for me …

Thanks so much Michelle ###

Oaty has come for his first holiday here and is really getting into the swing of things! At last it's stopped raining (although too windy for Noodles to make an appearance without a jacket) so had a lovely play in the field today. I love a group photo - there are in fact 12 dogs posing for me - Roxy (and her Ballie) is also there but she buried herself with it in the long grass! What wonderful pupsters!

Meet Luther the Basset and Freddie the Visla - it seemed an unlikely friendship but they really hit it off! I love watching dogs play - if you watch carefully you will notice good play involves taking turns rather than bullying so that neither is really acting dominant.

Wow! The sun is out and its warm and everything! So we had playtime in the buttercups - just beautiful! The two young Vislas just came for the day (Freddie and Juno) they actually come from separate homes but had great fun together. Beah, Fox and Poppy are all back for their holidays at the moment and even Bailey the Bulldog fancied a romp in the field.

Mabel, Waffles and the Squeaky Monster . . . what is it about terriers that mean the only good toy is the destroyed toy! No squeaker shall be born to live . . . and must be extracted (even from supposedly "tough" toys). I loved watching these two's antics and phots do give you the chance to realise just how much they throw themselves around!

Say hello to 3 new noses here at the Hotel! Obi and Wren the GSPs have come for a short break and have been joined today by Oxana the Springer who has come for a sleep over to find her paws. Its so lovely the sun is out . . . at long last . . . so playing in the garden today has been joyful.

We have had a happy event here at the Hotel - my Waffles has tied the lead with his darling Poppy. It was a lovely do and the happy couple looked amazing! (Although Waffles didn't really think he needed a bath for it . . . he did.)

Also it is Cockerpoo-O'Clock here at the moment with two new comers (from different homes) - Florence the golden girl and Gracie the shady lady. They are having a ball. Literally!

Little Florence was such a shy girlie when she first came to the Hotel but she has really got the hang of things now. It really helps to let the more timid kids come for a few taster days to get used to socialising with the rest of the gang and then when they come for their holidays it is home from home for them.

At last it's not raining - I was getting seriously fed up with mud and lack of photo fun! Anyway a big welcome to new girlie Skye the Champagne GSD who is holidaying here with her pal Dougie the Lab. Dougie has been here before and thought she would enjoy it. Also staying are the dynamic duo Kip and Parfit the Kelpies and, of course, my big cuddle buddy Cooper the Boxer.
