Our Story
This farm has been in the family for more than 100 years, but we have also farmed locally for much, much longer.
We have always had livestock here, but today specialise in rare breeds including Berkshire pigs, Norfolk Horn sheep, Longhorn cattle, Suffolk Punch horses and a sprinkle of rare breed poultry like the Old English Pheasant fowl. We also have many rescue animals living out their days here at the farm, from chickens to rabbits, a goat and a mule, to name a few.
The main aim of the courses held here is to give people who are thinking of keeping livestock - wanting a bit of the "Good Life" factor - but don't know how to go about it, some information on what to do, how to start and how to keep the animals.
Ongoing support is given should it be needed.
They are also a day out with a difference for those who have an interest in the animals and purely want an excuse to spend the day interacting with them and learning about their care.
Wildlife and the environment is an important factor here and great care is taken to support both. This is also reflected on things available to buy at the farm, from environmentally kind products in the ‘eco shop’ along with preloved paraphernalia. Plus there will be a ‘Freecycle and Barter Shack’ opening soon!
