The British Shorthair & British Longhair are one of my top pedigree breeds of cats that I recommend to owners for a first time indoor breed. They are an over all good natured temperament breed. I have had the pleasure of working recently with the British Blue in my cat grooming clinic. Both the shorthair & Longhair, I ove their broad faces & large rounded eyes, which is lovely & calming to be around. Their coat is relatively easy to maintain with a thick dense texture, which needs regular coat comb outs & de-sheds.
The British Longhair, on the other hand, has a very demanding thick dense fluffy coat that needs daily grooming due to the mix of British Shorthair & Persian combination of breeds. Full water baths, blow drys & coat comb outs are required on a regular basis by a professional cat groomer. Many owners are unaware of this before buying a kitten from a breeder. I offer help & advice on all pedigree breeds alongside my years of experience of cat grooming 😸😸
