Emergency vet referral for Princess, the Persian cat 🐈 ✂️Her coat was fully pelted & was restricting movement in her legs & neck area. A pelt is a hardened matt or knotting that is tight against the skin. This leads to dry & flakey skin as a result of preventing air & moisture reaching the skin. When a cats coat gets this matted, you need to seek out an experienced cat groomer that will remove all of the pelted coat. A pelted coat can be extremely painful for a cat, so we have to work slowly & be precise with the clipper blade on the cats skin. Princess' coat has ended up like this after months of no combing of her coat.
