We’d like to extend our deepest sympathies to Paul’s family and friends. To millions Paul O’Grady is the popular TV and radio presenter and comedian who lit up their screens with his razor-sharp humour and perpetual generosity and warmth. Battersea will forever remember Paul as a devoted animal lover with the biggest heart, who fell in love with every dog he met at our centres. Paul will always be associated with Battersea, and we are truly saddened to have lost such a true friend and huge part of our charity.

Update on Chaya's Kittens 💚

Back in February we introduced you to lovely Chaya and her kittens which were the first litter of kittens born at The Centre this year. We are pleased to update you on their progress now that they are now 5 weeks old. Chaya is a doting mummy who looks after her kittens perfectly. At 5 weeks old the kittens eyesight is now fully developed and their coordination is now better. This means that they are getting very playful and they love to explore. They still have their kitten blue eyes but they should start to develop their eye pigmentation when they are six weeks old. Their ears are now nearly fully upright rather then the flat ears you get with little kittens 😻

The black kitten does have a mild case of "swimmer syndrome" which means that his hind legs splay laterally a bit. But this is now improving as he practices his walking and should correct itself by the time he is older. Apart from this they are all growing perfectly and are so cute as they are starting to get their personalities 😽

Since Chaya had her kittens back in February we have had two more litters born here at The Centre, a litter of 3 week old kittens brought in and we currently have two more mummy cats ready to give birth any day now. Kitten season is already well under way this year 🙀

All kittens at The Centre are rehomed when they are 12 weeks old and have been neutered/ spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. We do not reserve kittens before having their operations so please check the website regularly if you looking to adopt 😍

So Alex & Ron were up at 4am yesterday to run 21 miles (!!) as part of their training for this huge challenge! If you can donate even £1, please please click the link (Facebook - link in comments, Instagram - link in bio).

If you can't donate, please share and encourage friends and family to support.

It might be tempting to give your dog some Christmas leftovers but some of the foods are actually toxic. ⚠️ So, take care to keep dangerous foods far away from your pet.

PLEASE SHARE

Our appeal for help - we are at crisis point.

Here is our little new arrival Bruni. He is a 8 week old Malinois who has a broken leg.
Things couldn’t be much worse for us at the moment we are struggling massively to keep up with the bills and our bank account is draining fast. But how could we turn this little guy away? Or any of the many other animals we are asked to help everyday.

The cost of living is having a massive knock on effect and people are having to part with their pets for often genuine reasons and sadly many of our supporters are having to cancel their standing orders. We want to continue to help as many people and animals as we can but for the first time we are being forced to consider closing our doors.

If you are a supporter of ours and are having to consider cancelling your standing order then maybe you could just reduce it instead, even if its £1 a month it still helps.

We appreciate that these are difficult times for everyone but if you can make a donation no matter how small you can do by using the button below or by following the link. If you aren’t in a position to donate then you can still help but sharing this appeal.

My Story

From a young age I have always had a passion to work with animals & was brought up around all kinds of pets. I have an understanding of how important your pets are to you and they will always be treated with as much love & devotion as if they were my own. I am currently studying under the University of Greenwich at Hadlow, and already have Level 2 in Pet Sitting, Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management which includes Animal First Aid as a completed module. I have done previous volunteering and work experience since the age of 14 at Happy Endings Rescue, Eagle Heights, RSPCA & a Veterinary Clinic.
