I have been animal crazy since I was born and have had a range of animals over the years but the one constant in my life has been dogs. I grew up with Chow Chows and Pyrenean Mountain dogs as family dogs. As a young child I helped train my neighbours Doberman and a family friends Rottweiler and German Shepard (she told me I was 5 when I spent all my time in her garden with both dogs and they learn

t something new after every visit). Later on my parents had an aggressive at everything Shih Tzu which I helped his reactivity and loved the challenge a reactive dog brings and watch them grow. During my 20’s my friend and I helped a charity take dogs from mistreated homes and transported them to their foster home before they were rehomed. These days my parents have a fairly quite in comparison (only dog aggressive to some dogs) Larzarapso and my husband and I have a “Son” (as I don’t do human children), a Doberman who’s 2.5 years. My house, however is always full of all kinds of breeds as 2 of my close friends are dog walkers and 1 is a trainer and the dogs learn to hang out in the same room and not having to interact all the time while we drink coffee - win,win 🤣
Over the years friends and family have told me to qualify as a trainer as they’ve always felt I would be good but life has excuses. My career has always been extremely busy (I travel the country training surgeons and nurses in all things eye surgery and am hardly at home). This year (2023) I’ve decided to allow myself to do something for me and now am qualifying under the "Dog Training College" to put a dream into action!

There is obviously a lot of emotions right now around XL Bullies.

Draconian Dogs Act helps those who are affected by BSL - Breed Specific Legislation and have a free advice line should you or your clients need it.

Please arm your clients with as many resources as you can such as Draconian Dogs Act, My Dog Has Bitten - DDA UK , DDA Watch , Cooper & Co: Doglaw

Also I am copying below Senior Trainer Clair Litster-Huckle's advice on what you can be doing/recommending to clients with XL Bullies or those that may look similar

Clair has written 'At moment we don’t know what the plan for this ban is. But for my clients I am calming them and getting them prepared and being proactive.

Ensure all dogs are insured with a minimum of 3rd party cover. You can pay £25 a year to dogs trust for 3rd party liability cover.

Make sure microchips are working and information on the database is up to date.

Muzzle training.

Behaviour report - nothing emotive just how you have seen this dog behave in a number of different situations.

Neutering - not ideal sadly as we know how detrimental this can be but it is non-negotiable for dogs on the exemption list

None of this mitigates what may happen but the police and legal system will see that you are being responsible and it could speed up the process should your dog be typed.'

This post is purely for advice. We understand that there are going to be lots of worried dog parents out there right now

People need teaching on how to bring up their dogs compulsory training so dogs don’t get blamed anymore for their irresponsible owners

“ITS OK HE’S FRIENDLY”

When an owner shouts “it’s ok he’s friendly” as their dog is advancing at break neck speed towards your, under control on lead dog, what he’s actually saying is “my dog is totally out of my control and has absolutely no recall because I’m too lazy to train him”.

The “it’s ok he’s friendly” dog owner believes it’s his right to have his friendly dog off lead harassing others no matter where he is and we can safely assume therefore he has no manners himself either!

The “it’s ok he’s friendly” dog owner has no idea about dogs and is too lazy to learn. He doesn’t therefore understand that your dog may be recovering from an operation, may be nervous or anxious, or that you may actually be training your dog! He doesn’t really even care!

The “it’s ok he’s friendly” dog owner is generally looking for your dog or another person’s dog to entertain or wear his dog out so that he doesn’t have to do it himself!

The “it’s ok he’s friendly” dog owner often thinks that you, the owner who is being responsible and keeping their dog on a lead and under control, is actually the problem and that you shouldn’t be walking where his “friendly dog” with no training or recall has the right to run free!

The reality is that the “it’s ok he’s friendly” dog owner is a selfish and ignorant dog owner!

Don’t be an “it’s ok he’s friendly” dog owner.

Take responsibility & Train your dog and be aware of etiquette and other’s needs and rights too.

Hi and Welcome to my page! I have a wealth of history working with dogs, but this year have decided to make it official. I am currently qualifying under "Dog Training College" and will be mentoring a friend who is a very established & highly thought after trainer.
While I continue to grow my experience and qualify I will be offering half price 121 lessons so I can help you at a fair price and you know I also have the backing of multiple mentors, both at my college and people closer to home.
