Today, two of our gorgeous new arrivals had their very first socialisation trips to the park, and we couldn’t be prouder of them!

They handled the experience like absolute superstars and made us fall in love with them even more.

Pongo (white and black boy) was such an amazing boy. He travelled amazingly in the car, laying down straight away. He then went on to see and meet quite a few little humans as it was early in the morning around school time we were down at the park! He then met some little dog friends and received so much love and fuss. He was unfazed by all the traffic and outside life noises. This boy is a gem and we know he will make the most exceptional companion.

Vixey (black female) was very well behaved. She was amazing in the journey over and was happy laying in the car. She then went on to meet plenty of little dog friends who she was completely comfortable and confident around. She received love and fuss from humans which she absolutely loved. She did very well with the traffic and even did the stairs at the park. She is such a confident and inquisitive girl. This girl is amazing and she will make one lucky family incredibly happy!

🐾🩷Meet Our Two New Arrivals: Meena and Faline🩷🐾

This past week has been an exciting one of new arrivals at Clark’s Farm, and on Wednesday, we had the joy of welcoming two stunning girls, Meena and Faline, into our care.

Named after characters from Bambi, these girls embody the beauty and grace of their namesakes, and it’s safe to say we’ve already fallen head over heels for them!

🐾 A little about Meena and Faline:
Both girls passed their dog test with flying colours when introduced to Blossom. They were incredibly gentle, polite, and friendly, showing impeccable manners and happily walking alongside Blossom with no issues!

💛 We believe both Meena and Faline would thrive in homes with children, and their adaptable, easy-going nature suggests they would fit into a variety of living environments. They’re already showing signs of confidence and are settling in beautifully here at Clark’s Farm.

We’re still getting to know their unique quirks and personalities, but one thing is clear: these two are going to make someone’s life complete!

🐾💙 THANKFUL THURSDAY – THANK YOU, CAROLINE COASTAL 💙🐾

Today, our Thankful Thursday shoutout goes to our incredible friends at Caroline Coastal 94.7 & 104.7 FM

You might recognise Caroline Coastal as the amazing team who provided entertainment all day at our Clark’s Farm Show 2024.

Their support didn’t stop after the show—they’ve continued to stand by us and our hounds throughout the year, sharing our posts, spreading the word about greyhounds, and most recently, making Christmas extra special for our dogs.

When they saw our hounds’ Christmas Wish List, they all rallied together and generously purchased almost everything on it!

Their kindness meant we were able to truly spoil our hounds this Christmas. It was such a magical day, and we owe it all to the thoughtful and generous humans at Caroline Coastal.

To top it all off, they even got a special treat of their own—meeting Clark’s Farm’s representative, Ember, who made sure to shower them with plenty of snuggles and laughs! Ember was over the moon for her greyhound friends and even had to test out a few of the toys herself (just to make sure they were up to her standards, of course 🤣)

We can’t express how grateful we are for the ongoing support of everyone at Caroline Coastal. Their generosity and thoughtfulness have made such a difference to our hounds, and we are so lucky to have them by our side.

Their kind hearts, sweet personalities, and gentle souls have left us in awe, and we know they’ll do the same for you❤️

Each of these hounds is wonderfully suited to a variety of homes. Whether you have a family or a quiet adult-only environment, they’ll fit right in. They’re loving, friendly, and outgoing—just waiting for someone to share their big hearts with💘

We’re still discovering all their special quirks, but one thing is already clear—they’re resilient, adaptable, and unfazed by much. These hounds are as gorgeous on the inside as they are on the outside, and their chilled-out, loving nature makes them perfect companions for the right home🏡

💙🐾 DOG OF THE WEEK - JOJO🐾💙

JoJo may not come with a sparkly bow, but her personality will brighten your life just the same!

JoJo is a gentle and sweet soul who has slowly opened her heart to all of us here at Clark’s Farm.

From the moment she arrived, we could see she was a timid and unsure girl, overwhelmed by the world around her. At first, JoJo was so nervous and wary that she kept her true self hidden from us.

She was hand-shy and hesitant, and for a while, we even thought she might not like us. But as time passed and JoJo realised there was no pressure, she began to trust us. Watching her gradually grow in confidence has been an absolute joy, and she has built some strong and loving bonds with the team here.

JoJo’s trust is not given lightly, but that makes earning it all the more rewarding. She’s not the type of dog to show her personality on a first or even second meeting, but for those who take the time to truly get to know her, the rewards are endless.

When meeting new people, JoJo may often look to those she trusts for reassurance, sometimes even hiding behind them for comfort. But once she gets going on her walks, all her worries seem to fade away. She happily trots along, enjoying her time outdoors, and it’s clear to see how much she loves it.

For those lucky enough to gain JoJo’s trust, she transforms into the most loving, playful, and even a little sassy companion. She has a calming, comforting presence and a magical way of making you feel special.

She doesn’t demand attention, but when it’s offered, she is more than happy to soak it all up. Her laid-back nature and patient personality mean she’s never pushy, but she’s always quietly ready for cuddles and affection.

We’ve recently started to see glimpses of JoJo’s playful and cheeky side, and it’s utterly delightful. She loves to zoom around, booping you with her nose as if inviting you to join in her fun. It’s a joy to watch, and we know with time, love, and patience, her confident and sassy side will shine even brighter.

JoJo is truly beautiful, both inside and out. She has so much love to give, and we’re confident she will one day be someone’s perfect soul dog—their everything.

She will bring calm, warmth, and quiet joy to her forever home, making an incredible difference in the lives of the lucky humans who get to call her theirs. We cannot wait for JoJo to find her perfect family, a home where she can thrive, be loved, and finally be seen for the amazing dog she is.

JoJo’s nervous nature means she will need a calm and quiet home where she can truly be herself and thrive. A busy household with lots of noise and activity, especially with young children, would be overwhelming for her and could cause her to shut down, which is the last thing we want for this sweet girl.

Instead, JoJo would thrive in an adult-only home or one with older, understanding teenagers who can offer her the gentle reassurance she needs to feel safe. Everyone in her forever home will need to be patient, kind, and sensitive to JoJo’s unique personality and quirks.

At the kennels, JoJo currently shares her space with Bronte, one of our long-term residents, and the two have formed a strong bond. Because of this, we think JoJo would benefit from living with another hound in her forever home. A confident male or female greyhound could show her the ropes and help her see that life isn’t so scary after all.

That said, with the right humans to support her, JoJo could also thrive as an only dog. She is wonderfully social with other hounds and is with humans once she's knows them fully and they have her trust.

We saw just how much she loves canine companionship during her dog test, where her face lit up the moment she spotted Blossom. She greeted Blossom with the gentlest sniffs and was calm, polite, and happy in her presence. The two even went for a walk together, and JoJo seemed completely at ease as if they had been friends for years.

JoJo’s love for other dogs means she may have the potential to live with breeds other than greyhounds in her forever home, as long as introductions are done properly. Being around other dogs seems to give her an extra boost of confidence, and their companionship helps her feel more secure.

Wherever she ends up, whether as part of a pack or with her humans all to herself, JoJo has so much love to give.

JoJo is truly a special girl. In the right environment, surrounded by patient, kind humans who will give her the time and space she needs, JoJo has the potential to blossom into the most exceptional and loving companion.

💙🐾THANKFUL THURSDAY - A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING COMMUNITY🐾💙

Today’s Thankful Thursday is dedicated to all the incredible humans who answered our urgent plea for kibble and donated to all the hounds in our care!

Just last week, we were facing a difficult situation, running dangerously low on food and wondering how we were going to manage. We always feel reluctant to ask for help because you already do so much for us and our hounds, but once again, you’ve proven just how extraordinary and selfless you all are.

When we posted our plea, we hoped for enough food to last a week or so, but what happened next completely blew us away…

Bag after bag of Step Up kibble started arriving at the kennels, and when we finally finished counting (after several arm workouts!), we realised that you had sent around 115 bags of food!

Thanks to your generosity, we now have enough food to keep our hounds happy, healthy, and well-fed for the next 2-3 months.

Words can’t express how much this means to us. Your kindness and love for these amazing hounds never fail to inspire us, and honestly, I could cry just thinking about how lucky we are to have such an incredible community.

Knowing that you care as much as we do about the greyhounds is what keeps us going through the tough days.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and supported us during this time. You’ve made such a difference for our hounds, and we couldn’t do what we do without you.

Another year has begun, and these beautiful souls are still patiently waiting in our kennels, hoping for their chance to be loved and seen for the incredible dogs they are💙🐾

🐕Alan & Lemon: These two boys are full of personality and love but need some extra training and experience due to being reactive. They may need a little extra time and attention , but the rewards and love they give is immeasurable.
🐕Edith: Our quirky, special girl is looking for a special home that will understand and love all her unique personality and quirks.
🐕Amber: This shy sweetheart struggles to show her true self to new people and needs a calm, understanding home who can help her blossom.
🐕Bronte & Robby: After overcoming health issues, these two are finally on the mend and closer to being ready for their forever homes!

Each of these hounds has stolen our hearts and become a big part of the Clark’s Farm family. They’ve been with us for anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, and we’ve built incredible bonds with every one of them🥰

This confident and outgoing girl has a zest for life that’s unmatched. Jinx thrives on the attention and affection of humans, and she’s not shy about showing her appreciation. Jinx has been with us for a few months now, and it’s hard to understand why this gorgeous girl hasn’t captured anyone’s heart yet. Each time she’s brought out to meet someone, she’s sadly overlooked or dismissed, and it’s absolutely heartbreaking.

There is nothing negative to say about Jinx – she’s sweet, funny, adaptable, and full of love. It’s clear that she’s waiting for the right person to see her for the wonderful companion she is, and I know when that person comes along, they’ll make her feel truly loved and cherished.

Jinx currently shares her kennel with Gable, and the two of them get on so well. She’s previously kennelled with other boys and always formed lovely friendships, so we know she’d be more than happy to live alongside another dog in her forever home.

That said, Jinx is also an independent girl who’s perfectly content having a bed all to herself, so she’d also thrive as the only dog in the household. Her adaptable nature makes her a fantastic match for a variety of homes.

She’s a social butterfly who would love to be part of a family. Jinx is great with dog-savvy children, teenagers, and adults alike, though very young children may not be the best match for her.

She’s comfortable around other breeds, which is so lovely to see. Jinx’s outgoing nature and confident personality mean very little phases her, making her a joy to be around.

This exceptional girl truly deserves to find someone who loves her as much as she loves them.

🐾‼️ FEED A DOG FRIDAY ‼️🐾

Good Morning Everyone!

Today, we’re reaching out with an urgent plea for help. Unfortunately, we are dangerously low on kibble for our dogs and are beginning to struggle. With so many mouths to feed, we go through two full bags of kibble every single day.

We understand that times are tough for everyone, and we don’t ask lightly but we are struggling. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference to these beautiful dogs.

We are in desperate need of Step Up kibble, which works best for their sensitive stomachs (photos attached for reference). Even one bag could provide a meal for every dog in our care.

🐾🥳 HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! 🥳🐾

As we welcome 2025, we want to take a moment to wish you and your hounds a year filled with love, laughter, and plenty of happy memories. Here’s to a fresh chapter full of joy and happy tails!

This post showcases just a few of the incredible families who opened their hearts and homes to give our hounds the perfect forever homes they deserve this year.

Looking back on 2024, we are truly overwhelmed by all that has been achieved here at Clark’s Farm. This year, we were able to rehome 129 greyhounds and our very special lurcher, Ember. It’s incredible to reflect on how many hounds have found loving homes and how many wonderful humans have stepped forward to give them the most amazing lives!

💙Harder-to-Home Hounds

One of the most heartwarming milestones this year was finding homes for 16 of our harder-to-home hounds. These are the dogs who face challenges like reactivity or behavioral issues that make their journeys to adoption a bit tougher. To the amazing adopters who saw beyond those hurdles and embraced these hounds with open hearts—we cannot thank you enough. Your love and compassion have changed their lives forever.

💙Special Cases

2024 also brought us some very special cases, including Ember and Lucky, two beautiful lurchers who arrived at the farm in heartbreaking conditions. Despite their difficult starts, these dogs have found, or are on the path to finding, homes where they are cherished. Across the year, we’ve cared for nine special cases—each one a testament to the resilience of these incredible dogs and the kindness of their new families.

💙An Outpouring of Support

The support we’ve received this year has been nothing short of extraordinary. Several of our TikTok videos went viral, bringing waves of awareness and love to our greyhounds. Our Facebook and Instagram posts have reached thousands, resulting in even more hounds finding their forever homes.

We were especially moved by the response to Ember’s fundraiser. After a devastating setback in faith, you all came through for us in just two hours, reminding us of the immense kindness that exists in the world. Your unwavering support has meant so much to our dogs and our team—we cannot thank you enough.

💙The Clark’s Farm Show

This year also marked the return of the Clark’s Farm Show, which was a huge success! Together, we raised £2,400, all of which has gone towards helping our hounds as they wait for their perfect families. The love and generosity shown by this community has been truly inspiring.

🌈 Remembering Our Beloved Hounds

While we’ve celebrated many happy endings, we also want to take a moment to remember the beautiful hounds we lost this year. Personally, I said goodbye to my soul dog, Tilly, and I know how hard it is to face the new year without your soulmate by your side. These hounds lived lives full of love and kindness, and their memories will forever be a part of us.

💙Looking Ahead to 2025

As we step into a new year, we are excited for what’s to come. Our mission remains the same: to find as many hounds as possible their forever homes and to continue connecting with the incredible humans who make this possible. We’re already looking forward to Clark’s Farm Show 2025 and everything else the year has in store for us!

🥳NEW YEARS MESSAGE-🥳

As Jeff says “Hello There.”

The staff and Trustees would like to wish everyone a very happy new year. We would like to thank all the staff and volunteers. 2025 is 26 years since the site was purchased. From a position where everyone and their cat were opposed to the kennels, we are now one of the country’s leading single-breed homing kennels.

Since starting we have found loving families for thousands of greyhounds. Long may this continue…

In 2025, we are planning to build a new kennel block for the greyhounds who need that extra time to adjust to home life. Some of the greyhounds have been institutionalised, much like many service personnel leaving the forces. At Clarks Farm, the staff does excellent work turning these greyhounds lives around. we will be applying for grants to carry out this important project.

In 2024 we used a lot of money expanding the car park with new fences, new pens and better landscaping. things can only continue to get better (we hope).

We want to say a huge thank you to all those who continue to support the kennels with monthly donations. We did not get around to sending all our thank you cards out due to the cost of postage but we are all incredibly grateful to everyone who supports us.

Thank you to all the volunteers who give their time at the kennels, whether working on-site, off-site, walking the dogs, or conducting home checks. In 2025, we are looking for some volunteers to help out with gardening and little maintenance jobs on-site. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in this!

We must mention all our staff. Chia, who came back just over a year ago now takes on the day to day management on the kennels. This is a stressful job but pays back with the results and achievements from Chia and her team. And Aimee who looks after our social media and is on top of her game. I am sure she makes you smile with some of her posts.

We must mention the other staff as without them we would not have a team: Emma, Erin, Demi, Dean, Julie, Josh, Hope and not forgetting Peter!

Thank you to Friends of Crayford, Entain, the GBGB and everyone in the greyhound industry who support us.

The cost of running the kennels is a big expense and as time moves on it only rises. If you’d like to support the kennels please contact the office. In 2024 we had our first first show since Covid thanks to Liam and Kelly for all they did. Every year Liam says “I’m not doing it again” but this year our show will return September 14th at the usual place of the plantation hall.

Thank you to everyone who supports the appeals for money to get the treatment for the greyhounds of complex issues. These are now all in loving homes. Finally we want to remind you that there are still hundreds of greyhounds still looking for their forever homes. If you can spread the word please do even if you just share one of our social media posts it will make a big difference.

On the tenth day of Christmas, the Clark’s Farm Kennel Team said to me…
“Our greatest wish is for all of our greyhounds to find the most perfect forever homes. Every single one of them deserves a family who will love and cherish them unconditionally. We dream of an amazing 2025 filled with happy endings, where we can see as many hounds as possible walk out of our doors and into the arms of their forever families…”

This year has been extraordinary, filled with countless happy endings as so many hounds found their perfect forever homes. We’ve been lucky to meet an amazing group of humans who’ve opened their hearts and homes to our greyhounds, and for that, we are endlessly grateful.

But our work isn’t done. There are still so many beautiful and kind-hearted greyhounds here with us, wishing for their forever. Over the past 10 days, we’ve shared the stories and wishes of some of these incredible hounds, and we hope with all our hearts that their Christmas wishes will come true.

Our Story

Clarks Farm Greyhounds is a registered charity in its own right and is the Maldon branch of the Greyhound Trust. Working alongside the Greyhound Trust and Friends of Crayford Retired Greyhounds we take in ex racing/ retired greyhounds and find permanent loving homes for them.

Thousands of Greyhounds retire from racing every year. Some are less than two years old; the majority are aged around three and four. Many people do not realise that greyhounds make excellent family pets. They are gentle, loving and adapt to home life easily. Contrary to common belief they are actually very lazy and only need two 20 minute walks each day. When re-homed responsibly they can live with other breeds of dogs and other pets such as cats.

Our expert team at the kennels can work with you to match the right greyhound to your circumstances, as all our greyhounds are socialised and cat tested prior to re-homing.
