This is an X-ray of a dog’s bent front leg. See that tiny white spec? That’s a microchip! It has migrated down the leg....far from where it was inserted, between the dog’s shoulders. This is actually quite common.....

When lost pets are scanned, the entire body SHOULD be scanned to catch any that have migrated. But, as an owner, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AT THEIR YEARLY VET EXAM, to ask for a quick scan to make sure that: (1) the chip is still working, (2) the location of the chip is good, and (3) that the chip info is correct.

Remember microchips save lives and reunite families with their pet.... just have it checked regularly!

🌍💖Today is World Kindness Day - a day dedicated to focusing on compassion, generosity, and small acts that make a big impact. It’s all about inspiring people to be a little kinder and build a world that feels just a bit warmer for everyone.

For us, that means showing some love to our furry friends! Whether it’s treating your pet to their favourite meal, giving them some extra playtime, or just spending quality time together, animals are a huge part of our lives, and they deserve all the kindness, love and attention we can offer.

Let’s make this World Kindness Day a reminder to be good to one another - and our animal companions. 🐾✨

🌺 Honouring Sacrifice and Service on Remembrance Day🌺

Today on Remembrance Sunday, we pause to honour and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. We wear our poppies as a symbol of gratitude and respect for those who have given their lives in times of war and conflict.

The red poppy is a tribute to the courage of men and women in the armed forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice. It reminds us of the fields of Flanders, where these bright flowers grew amidst the destruction of World War I - a poignant reminder of resilience and remembrance.

The purple poppy is worn to honour the animals who served and suffered alongside humans, from horses and dogs to cats and carrier pigeons. These animals were vital companions, performing tasks that saved countless lives and brought comfort in moments of hardship.

As we observe a moment of silence today, may we reflect on the bravery and selflessness shown by both people and animals, and may we strive to create a future of peace. Lest we forget. 🌹💜

🎃🐾 Happy Halloween from Petpals! 🐾🎃

Halloween is a fun time for everyone, but it’s important to keep our pets safe during all the festivities! Here are some tips to make sure your furry friends stay happy and healthy tonight:

🍬 Keep Sweets Out of Reach: Many treats, especially chocolate, are dangerous for pets. Make sure sweet bowls are in safe spots, and remind little trick-or-treaters not to share with their furry friends!

🎇 Mind the Decorations: Some Halloween decorations can be tempting to explore or chew on. Keep electrical cords, candles, and breakable decor out of reach.

👻 Costume Comfort: Don't force your pets to wear costumes! If however your pet enjoys dressing up, make sure costumes are comfortable, fit well, and don’t restrict movement, breathing, or vision.

🚪 Reduce Doorbell Stress: Constant doorbell rings can stress some pets. Set up a quiet room with their favourite toys and a cosy bed where they can feel safe if things get too lively.

🏡 Keep Pets Indoors: Loud noises and extra foot traffic can cause pets to bolt. Keep them indoors and ensure your pet’s ID tags and microchip info are up-to-date, just in case.

Have a safe and spooky Halloween! 🎃 🐶🐱
