Do you like travelling? A bit of "me" time? Here's a role which suits those who would like to make an important contribution to several of our teams and also to our clients. Our team of van drivers cover a lot of miles in a day visiting our own clinics as well as other veterinary practices and some farms. You get to see the countryside and country lanes as well as the main roads.
The day can be varied, and subject to change if the roads become congested or closed, so we seek someone who can plan routes but also adapt if things change. You may someone who is looking for a couple of days every week and who would enjoy travelling around the countryside in this lovely part of the world.
Please share. For more information visit our website for this and other opportunities. https://www.georgevetgroup.co.uk/current-opportunities/
Well, it's been seven years since there has been an opportunity like this within our equine team. Sadly, Anna will be leaving us later this year- more on that closer to the time to recognise her contribution.
We are now offering a part-time role, working alongside Jennie in our spacious Malmesbury office. There is a requirement to work Fridays and also to be able to flex up to provide holiday cover. The closing date for applications is 30th August, so please share now with anyone who you feel would be a great fit for our team in assisting both our clients and our vets in this part-time role.

For those of you who asked for more bandaging top tips…
Bandaging a horse’s leg can be a tricky business and more harm than good can come from poor bandage techniques. Below are our top tips and an example of Meghan applying a two layer lower limb bandage.
Our top tips:
- Always ask your vet for advice for management of any wounds. Sometimes the most innocuous wounds can be of the biggest concern.
- Ensure that your horse is stood quietly in a clean area and weight bearing on the limb. It is sensible to have another pair of hands to hold the horse for your safety.
- Make sure you have all bandage material within easy reach.
- Always make sure to not over tighten any layers.
- If you are unsure of the correct bandage technique, please get in touch.

Can you name any of the kit which our vets carry with us in their cars?
As a practice we have all the portable equipment needed to ensure that thorough investigations can be carried out at your yard.
Sometimes, one of the hardest parts of our job is figuring out how to fit it all in the car together!

Have you ever struggled to put a foot bandage or poultice on your horse, pony or donkey?! Because we have and we can’t be the only ones!
Here is Meghan showing an example of how this is done…
Our top tips:
- Make sure you get your duct tape square ready ahead of bandaging
- Ensure you or your assistant have a good secure grip of the horses leg
- Have all bandage material to hand within easy reach
- Always use a padded layer, such as soffban, before applying any vet wrap to minimise rubbing
- Ensure that you work in a figure of 8 motion to include all parts of the foot up to the pastern for a secure fit
