A huge thank you to each and every person that has stopped by to donate presents for the shelter animals, & all our cards and treats for the staff too! 🎄 🎁 The generosity has been amazing and the animals will be opening their shoe boxes and gifts over Christmas, we will of course be filming their big days too while they receive all the love & care by our amazing team the Christmas period. Hopefully it’s not too long before all the animals spending this Christmas in care will be settled & loved with their new family’s 💚 🏡

So this is lovely Moss, he was lucky enough to win our Dog Hamper Raffle prize, which he kindly gifted back to all the dogs in our care.

As the year is drawing to an end we would like to say a huge thank you to our regular bakers that kindly bake some amazing cakes and sweet treats for us ready for our fundraising days throughout the year & to Guilt Trip Coffee and Donuts for their support at Santa paws for freshly baked donuts ready on the morning.. as always the plates were cleared! 🍩🍰🧁

Meet our wonderful volunteer Gene, who cleans with us three mornings a week on our kennel block. Gene has been a long standing supporter of WARS & other local animal charities for many years and those who are lucky to know him will know his kindness and amazing talents of his art work! For those that regularly visit us at the shelter you will see all of the portraits of some of the previous animals in care that are placed around reception & in our Rehoming room.

Well all of these were done by Gene and every single penny of the commission when they’re bought, comes to us as a charity.
Gene has recently came up with the idea of painting our animals that are due to be adopted, for their adopters to purchase their new pets portrait at a small donation of £35.00 this includes the frame cost price of £10 that Gene purchases himself prior. (WARS will receive £25)

Here is Gene with the beautiful Slyvia he has painted for her family, who has recently gone into foster to adopt with her new family and she is settling so well after spending all year in kennels 💔 we are so pleased for this beautiful girl! 🏡

If you’re adopting an animal from us in the future please keep an eye out in reception for your animals painting as they will be available to purchase on the day of adoption thanks to Genes amazing work!

Little 15 week old shadow came in as a single kitten with her beautiful, mum Bo. Sadly Shadow hasn't had one application, this little lady adores attention and human company. She loves to climb on you some love and fuss. Can you offer this sweetie a forever home in time for Christmas?

She will make a family home very lucky and can live with other pets and older children 5+.

We have a fabulous dog hamper, the obligatory alcohol and chocolates and not forgetting a beautifully hand decorated Christmas cake, lovingly baked by a big supporter of ours, the lovely Ginny.

Thank you so much to every single person that came to support us yesterday at our Santa Paws event 🎄
We made £1100, which is amazing considering the storm and power cut!
The power went at around 1pm! That lasted right up until 4pm! But we made the most of it & it was a lovely turn out despite the awful storm we have all been on the tail of ☔️ 💨 the team of staff and volunteers worked tirelessly yesterday running the event & making sure our animals were safe and cosy.

We really are grateful to our brilliant supporters yesterday, that came out in the rain to help us raise money for our lovely animals in care this festive season. All of the dogs were wonderful & it was so lovely to see so many happy waggy tails!
All of the photos will be edited and emailed out mid week, we can’t wait to see them.

SANTA PAWS - we are going ahead today with Santa Paws🎅🐾. The weather isn’t going to stop Santa, he has arrived and is polishing his boots.

Shopping and refreshments are inside away from the elements and we are all excited to welcome everyone from 11am.

It’s almost time … we are busy preparing!

Come & Join us at the shelter this Saturday the 7th for Santa Paws 11-2pm for walk in photos & 2-3pm for bookable slots for nervous/reactive dogs - email [email protected] to book in! Slots are now limited for this hour.

For £5 per dog you will receive professional copies via email in time for Christmas for uploading and printing.

This year we have turned our homing room into Santas grotto so we have a double door system to make it much more relaxed and calm for when your dog is being photographed.

Our community room will be full of shopping at bargain prices! And gift bags for your pets, while you await your photo booth turn, stop by at the festive refreshments counter including -
• Tea, Coffee, hot chocolate and non alcoholic mulled wine
• freshly baked cakes 🧁& guilt trip donuts! 🍩
• Freshly baked festive sausage rolls (vegan)

We will be allowing all dogs to use our shelter play pens & chill out rooms on the day, there will be signage around the shelter & please do ask a member of the team for any help on the day!

We can’t wait to see your wonderful four legged companions for some festive fun, while fundraising for our shelter animals in care this Christmas
