It was a snoozy snuggled Sunday at the maternity ward this morning. Noodle 🍜 and Gyoza 🥟 are very close and were enjoying a lie in 😻🐾💚
A huge thank you to Malvern Canine Hydrotherapy for their support and help with Lolly the lurcher who is on foster to adopt at the moment with her new family. Emma has kindly offered her services for free to help aid lolly’s recovery after her hip operation.
Lolly was brought into us with a dislocated hip, and was never claimed as a stray. She’s been getting along fantastic now and these sessions mean a lot to us and lolly so thank you! 💚🐾
We hope everyone has had a brilliant Easter! 🐣
The Easter bunny visited the shelter over the weekend, here are some of the dogs enjoying their Easter treats, sadly all but Heather the blue Staffordshire bull terrier are all long stays that haven’t had any applications in a while.
Mia the Dutch herder, Gromit the lurcher & Roody the mastiff cross are such people oreintated dogs they thrive in company and have come a long with us at WARS from when they arrived as worried strays.
They’re individually looking for specific homes, if you would like more information to see whether you can provide the home they need check out their profiles here ➡️ https://www.wars.org.uk/our-dogs/ 💚
Update- it’s cleared down at the moment to a level that’s safe to drive through just large puddles.
This is at 8:15 this morning, we have again put our temporary barriers up to stop traffic as last week someone drove through and their car cut out and had to be recovered PLEASE DO NOT RISK IT.
It’s has been reported to the council. It’s up to the top of wellies in the middle just before our turning to the shelter hawthorn lane Wr135bd.
It is due to rain all day today so likely to worsen.
We will update later today and in the morning for access.
Update - SHELTER CLOSURE.
PLEASE DO NOT Attempt TO DRIVE THROUGH.
Today we are having to close to the public; please do not attempt to drive through the lane towards the shelter coming from the A449 Worcester Road. Already on foot the water is nearing tops of wellies and it’s due to rain until 3pm, so most likely will get worse.
The other side/entrance to the shelter, on hawthorn lane is starting to also come across! Please take care on the roads today.
Rest assured all animals and staff are safe and will be cared for throughout the day 💚
Does everyone remember Wednesday? We did a media story on this little lady back at Christmas via social media and our newsletter!
Admitted around Halloween week, riddled in lice & Cat flu at the tender age of 6 weeks she was really suffering and had a long recovery journey ahead of her, she sadly lost her sight due to how severe her infection was in her eyes.
She went into foster after her eye operation with one our experienced foster teams that we are lucky to have on board who really have helped us bring this little lady along and get her ready for her forever home 🏡
We visited Wednesday this week, and saw her thriving and introduced her to her new family.
She goes home next Tuesday & we can’t wait to see her new adventures 😻
Wednesday really is a true example of how resilient and strong animals are, and sadly she probably won’t be the last kitten we see come through our shelter gates in her condition, but with the help of all the amazing support we receive we can continue to change lives like little Wednesdays so THANK YOU!
Spud 🥔 went home today 🏡 😻
Happy adoption day Spud, this happy gentle boy came to us as a stray at the end of October, he was really overweight and his mouth was infected and in desperate need of a dental! He like many strays was never claimed and his journey before here sounds sadly like he was passed on. Spud stole our hearts & true to his breed he adored company and people and loved his comforts and wasn’t too fond of the rain or mud, he was a true princess 👑
Spud found his amazing family recently & their sweet female pug who adore him and have all opened their hearts to him. He will be spend his days snoozing with his new companion and enjoying some family walks, he left the shelter today in his new perfect fit harness & looked like a very dapper boy! Be happy Spud 💚

Meet Lolly, one of the many strays that’s been brought in to us recently. Lolly was brought in via the dog warden and we quickly realised that Lolly needed X rays due to her gait, despite her amazing temperament and beautiful nature this girl was in discomfort! She was X- rayed and placed on some pain medication as her results showed that poor lolly had a disolicated hip 💔 she is due to go to for an operation at the start of this week & will remain with us while we ensure she recovers and then she can find her forever home that she deserves.
Lolly’s operation is estimated at £1500, if you’re able to help in anyway please follow our donation link -
🔗 https://www.wars.org.uk/donate.php
You can add an additional note to say “Lolly’s operation” we really do appreciate everyone’s support at the start of a busy year, your donation will really make a big difference to us this month 💚💚
Thank you! 🐾
Santa Paws shopping preparation is well underway at WARS🛍️
We have some brilliant goodie bags on sale next Sunday for £10 for both dogs and cats they’re all labelled up ready for under the tree 🎄❄️🐾
We like to ensure our cats and dogs have daily enrichment, and on Mondays we have Cat nip kickeroos in the cattery 🤪😻🐱
What better way to build up to Halloween than have our new Pets at Home Halloween kickeroos that we purchased with our lifeline vouchers that we get from the amazing support of the public, that have shopped for their own supplies for their pets at home which has then supported a chosen charity, we would be lost without this additional help for our busy shelter! So a huge thank you to those have chosen us as their #VIPCLUB charity 💚🐾
Here is Lulu, April & pepper having some fun!
Ki 💚🐾
We are so sad that this wonderful boy hasn’t had one single application and he’s been on the website almost 2 months. He’s watched many of our cats go off to their wonderful homes, and sadly like many shy black cats before he’s taking longer to find his family.
Ki deserves so much love he’s so affectionate and sweet and adores company, he just needs someone to take that chance on him and build the bond we know he will make with his lucky owner. Ki was once a stray and for a long time probably hasn’t had the warmth and love of a home 🏡 can you offer him that cozy spot by the fire ready for winter?

🐱
-Adult only home as I can be shy and sudden movements worry me
- I need to be the only cat
- no dogs please
Play time for Libby!!
Libby, has been at the shelter for 3 months now. We cannot understand why nobody has shown an interest in her yet. Libby is a very playful cat. Libby is a young outgoing girl with with bags of character. She will always greet you with a hello at the door.
She will need access in her new home to explore and play. Can anyone offer this young lady a home?

Kitten season is well and truly upon us, we have seen a huge increase in pregnant female cats needing our help, in the last 8 weeks which can lead to many long months for all the nursing mums to be in care before they can finally get their chance and time to be in a loving home, we can’t wait to see our beautiful mums all settled like they deserve. For now it’s almost time for some of our kittens to find their forever families, we will be contacting people on our kitten list over the next upcoming days to weeks so if you’re on our list patiently waiting to give a kitten their forever home make sure you have all your contact details up to date 🙂

Happy bank holiday Sunday! Walter is busy learning on his bank holiday and is hoping to find his forever family very soon 💚
He’s a super affectionate, outgoing boy that adores his friends!
🐾 I need to be the only pet in my new home
🐾 I need to build my confidence around other dogs slowly
🐾 I’m very clever & active and would suit a family that enjoys walking and teaching me things
🐾 I could live with children 14 +

Meet Albert, this poor boy came to us as a stray 💔
Yet again another male not neutered or chipped and sadly was found with an awful break in his front leg, Albert was in a lot of pain and we operated as soon as we could, for his welfare. We were hoping to be able to pin the break but sadly he has had to have his leg amputated. Alberts recovering well with our great vets and despite being a shy boy, he’s the biggest love bug and adores his food and is getting some well deserved tender loving care. We have no doubt Albert was once someone’s pet, and has been wandering for some time, sadly it won’t be the last Cat we see like this. Neutering your cats significantly reduces your cats from roaming too far from your home and this then reduces chances of accidents like poor Albert had. Hopefully this boy will continue a good recovery and get himself in a loving home very soon 💚🐾
Meet Toby! A young clever active greyhound that’s longing to find his family 🏡💚 Look how clever this boy is, he adores to play & when you’re out walking he will nuzzle his head into you for some fuss, Toby is very affectionate and gentle. Once you meet Toby you will have a friend straight away.
We currently have three Greyhounds on our website, and we will be showing all three this week through videos to show their wonderful individual personalities!
Often this breed sadly gets left behind a little compared to our other dogs that are up for adoption, greyhounds are very placid, gentle and are often able to live with other suitable dogs. They also can make fantastic first time dogs for owners that are a little unsure of what breed they would be suited too, this laid back breed are often happy to go for a nice leisurely walk and then snooze all day on their bed… or yours!
We assess all of our dogs to ensure we know exactly what type of home they require, and when an ex racing greyhound is looking for the loving home they deserve we get them as ready as possible for their new family! We are at hand to give advice and support throughout your adoption so if you think you can offer this beautiful boy his forever home please check out his profile to fill an application in https://www.wars.org.uk/toby.php
🐾Toby is looking for a home with older children 15+
🐾 He could live with another dog
🐾 He needs a home where he will have understanding & patient owners to help him transition into being a contented pet
Meet Florence, a very special girl that’s been with us getting ready to find her second chance. Florence sadly was brought in via a member of the public that found her abandoned on the side of a very busy A Road, most likely dumped after she had been used for years of breeding 💔 Florence came to us in very poor condition her body score sat at a 2 out of 5 meaning you could see her ribs and hip bones she had very little body fat and was covered in her own faeces. We noticed quickly Florence had an abnormal gait, upon arrival and we booked her in for X rays which showed us her spine was fused at her T6 vertebrate, this sadly this can be passed through genetics and it was very clear she had recently had a litter of puppies through her showing signs of lactation upon arrival.
This was heartbreaking to later find out when we neutered her she had evidence of having multiple litters, she is now 6 years old and thankfully safe in our care and neutered so she will be no longer be used for breeding and can be treasured like she has always deserved.
Florence is now fit & well and ready to be find her forever family, she is the sweetest girl with so much love to give, she is very sociable and adores greeting everyone on her walks and she loves her dog friends that she goes on her adventures with!
We are looking for a family home with children 14+ and she could live with other pets, a loving understanding home is essential, it’s very important if you’re interested in adopting Florence you read her profile and we are here to chat and answer any further questions potential adopters may have - https://www.wars.org.uk/florence.php
Florence sadly isn’t the last female we will see that’s been bred most likely for profit not taking into consideration her poor health and genetics which could have been passed to her previous puppies.
We urge anyone that’s looking to purchase a puppy privately to read this link- https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/getting-a-dog/buying-a-do
Dorothy- https://www.wars.org.uk/dorothy.php
A total fuss pot & will melt your heart the moment you meet her. Dorothy is 10 years old so hasn’t had much interest like our other cats however she’s super healthy & just had a dental yesterday and she is so desperate to find her family she has much love to give 🐾💚
